Recent Game Summaries
2019 Week 17 vs IND (10 / 33 / 0 rush, 9 / 5 / 52 / 1 rec)
His first touch of the game was a wide-open check down off Play Action. He gained a total of 24 yards on the play before getting tackled downfield at the 6-yard line. A few plays later, the Jaguars ran the exact same play, and Armstead dropped a wide-open pass that would have gone for an easy touchdown (the throw was slightly high and required an adjustment). He was merely adequate as a runner Ð picking up what was blocked but doing little in terms of creating on his own or adding additional yardage. He did score later in the game on the same exact concept Minshew missed him on during the first drive.
2019 Week 15 vs OAK (1 / 1 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Ryquell Armstead played only two snaps, getting one carry for one yard. With Leonard Fournette in the fold, Armstead isn't going to see the field.
2019 Week 11 vs IND (1 / 6 / 0 rush, 2 / 2 / 13 / 0 rec)
Ryquell Armstead had one early carry for six yards but did not receive another carry for the rest of the game. He caught each of his two targets for a total of 13 yards and was used by Jacksonville more as a pass blocker on third downs than he has in past games, so that is really the lone noticeable development for the rookie running back.
2019 Week 9 vs HOU (0 / 0 / 0 rush, 5 / 5 / 65 / 0 rec)
He didn't get much work in the run game. He did however get some usage as a pass catcher. He converted the first first down of the game for the Jaguars, catching a dumpoff from Minshew, leaking out after pass protecting. It was the biggest play for the Jaguar offense for most of the game, until Keelan Cole's deep 30-yarder down the right sideline in garbage time.
2019 Week 8 vs NYJ (6 / 7 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Rookie running back Ryquell Armstead played the most snaps he has played all season but he had the same tough sledding that Leonard Fournette had, carrying it six times for only seven yards. Like Fournette, Armstead simply had zero running room. He did get a few red-zone carries and was the primary running back every time Fournette was not on the field, so the hope is he can still poach a touchdown here and there.
2019 Week 7 vs CIN (3 / 3 / 0 rush, 1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Rookie running back Ryquell Armstead only played seven snaps on Sunday in relief of Fournette. He had three carries for three yards, though one of his carries went for six yards. Inconsistent blocking and no real pattern of usage hindered him this game.
2019 Week 6 vs NO (1 / 1 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Armstead had only one touch in Sunday's game, a one-yard goal line run. Outside of the team's Week 4 victory over the Denver Broncos, Armstead has simply not been given nearly any opportunities at all.
2019 Week 5 vs CAR (1 / -1 / 0 rush, 1 / 1 / 7 / 0 rec)
Despite playing a large role in Week 4's game against Denver, Armstead only touched the ball twice against Carolina. One was a negative yards carry that was blown up by Carolina's front seven, while the other was a checkdown pass on a short curl route. He is a talented player but his usage remains inconsistent from game to game.
2019 Week 4 vs DEN (8 / 42 / 0 rush, 1 / 1 / 7 / 1 rec)
After three games and one carry, the Jaguars started easing Armstead into the offense against Denver and he performed very well for them. He first checked into the game on the second drive in the first quarter. He scored his first touchdown of the season on a redzone catch, where he converted a flat pass upfield while Garnder Minshew evaded the rush. He showed good power and acceleration on his carries when subbing for Fournette in the second half as well. They compliment each other well, as Armstead is basically a slightly lighter, more agile version of Fournette.
