Recent Game Summaries

2019 Week 17 vs TEN (7 / 5 / 54 / 0 rec)

Jordan Akins was the only Texans tight end really in the game plan, and he continues to make plays when the ball is in his hand. One thing is for sure when Akins gets the ball in his hands, he is going to break tackles, and he was able to do that once again versus the Titans defense. Akins longest reception was 20 yards and was able to do work on underneath routes too.

2019 Week 14 vs DEN (9 / 4 / 49 / 0 rec)

Akins had 49 yards receiving on the day and has slowly become Watson's primary target in the passing game at the tight end position. Even with Darren Fells and Jordan Thomas on the field, Akins is getting the looks in the passing game. Akins' ability to break tackles makes him a good option for the offense to eat up yards when they need vital plays.

2019 Week 4 vs CAR (4 / 3 / 21 / 0 rec)

Jordan Akins is slowly turning into Watson's favorite tight end in the offense, especially in the check down game. With so much attention being put on others, Akins is finding opportunities sneaking into the creases of the defense. Akins had a 10-yard first down reception late in the game to jump-start the offense looking for any type of life.

2019 Week 3 vs LAC (5 / 3 / 73 / 2 rec)

It was the first time in a while that the tight end group was utilized in the passing game and they came up big. Akins only had three receptions but two went for touchdowns. The first was a 15-yard strike with him running up the seam and the other was a 53-yard catch and run where he worked in tandem with Deshaun Watson to get open. Akins showed his athletic ability to get open and run untouched down the field for the socre. Akins has been getting plenty of work as the Texans second tight end and maybe this will help get him more targets in a crowded skill group.
