Summary
Williams entered the league as an undrafted free agent and spent four years with the Chargers, highlighted by a 2016 season in which he had 69 catches for 1,059 receiving yards. He signed a four-year, $44M contract with the Raiders in 2019 and got off to a hot start in his first season before injuring his foot during a Week 4 matchup against the Colts. He was on pace for 68 catches, over 800 yards, and 16 touchdowns when the injury occurred. Williams missed two games and when he did finally return in Week 8, he did not have the same burst and was a fantasy non-factor the rest of the way. He finished with just 42 catches for 651 yards and 6 touchdowns. Now healthy, the 28-year old should enter the 2020 season as the Raiders top outside receiver over promising rookies Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards. However, the Raiders are suddenly loaded with quality depth at both wide receiver and tight end, which will make it difficult for Williams to see enough targets to make a fantasy impact. Raiders | Tyrell Williams could be let go (Sat Jan 16, 10:17 PM) - Las Vegas Raiders WR Tyrell Williams may be a cap casualty this season because the team would save $11.6 million in salary cap space if they release him. Our View: No surprise here. Things haven't gone the way the Raiders planned since they picked Williams up. Injury or ineffectiveness (miscast as their no.1 receiver a year ago) have plagued his time with the Raiders. They have a nice collection of young WR talent like Henry Ruggs, Hunter Renfrow and Bryan Edwards to move forward with.link to story
