Williams is out for Week 3

Summary

Filling in for Kareem Hunt after the Chiefs cut its star runner, Williams scored six touchdowns during the final four weeks of the 2018 season--include two games with over 100 yards from scrimmage. Williams has excellent long speed and consistent hands. He runs with enough pad level and balance to earn yards through contact. He earned a free agent contact with the Chiefs last year after proving trustworthy as a third-down back and change-of-pace option for the Dolphins. A capable runner and receiver, Williams lacks dynamic creativity that top starters possess in the NFL. Although LeSean McCoy and Darwin Thompson have more upside, Williams' strengths make him a safe fantasy option if called upon to lead the backfield due to a McCoy injury or ineffectiveness. Chiefs | Damien Williams ruled out (Fri Sep 20, 02:27 PM) - Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams (knee) on Friday, Sept. 20, was ruled out for the team's Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Our View: LeSean McCoy is a solid RB2 choice as long as he plays, although Darrel Williams and Darwin Thompson could get auditions and chances to earn a piece of a very valuable backfield. Thompson should be owned in every league and Williams should be added in deep leagues.

Chiefs | Damien Williams to miss another day (Thu Sep 19, 12:49 PM) - Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams (knee) will be held out of a second straight day of practice Thursday, Sept. 19.

Our View: The Chiefs have a banged up RB corps with Williams missing practice and LeSean McCoy dealing with an ankle injury. We might see more of Darwin Thompson in Week 3.

Chiefs | Damien Williams out of practice (Wed Sep 18, 01:19 PM) - Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams (knee) won't practice Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Our View: Williams is banged up and so is LeSean McCoy (ankle). Check back on their practice status for Friday. Darwin Thompson would be the next man up if either Williams or McCoy (or both) have to miss time.
