Summary

Pettis was a pleasant surprise as a rookie, stepping into a major role in Week 10 and immediately establishing as the 49ers' top wideout. Flanked by one-dimensional speedster Marquise Goodwin and a handful of low-impact slot men, Pettis closed 2018 in dazzling fashion. Over Weeks 12-16, only 13 players produced more receiving yardage, and only one (Amari Cooper) caught more touchdowns. The youngster flashed the ability to win both inside and out, and he's reportedly focused on adding weight and strength during the offseason. His versatility should appeal greatly to Jimmy Garoppolo, who shoehorned Goodwin into that inside-out role in 2017 to great results (77 yards a game). Pettis may not dominate targets like other No. 1s - he'll likely fall well behind tight end George Kittle in the pecking order, and rookie Deebo Samuel brings a versatile skillset of his own. But Pettis is a big-play dynamo who can help win fantasy weeks, and he boasts the upside to catch 60-65 high-upside balls. A fantasy WR3 finish is well within his range of outcomes. (May 9)

49ers | Week 14 injury report for San Francisco (Fri Dec 6, 03:43 PM) - San Francisco 49ers S Jaquiski Tartt (ribs) and DT Jullian Taylor (elbow) were unable to practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints. WR Dante Pettis (knee), OT Joe Staley (finger) and WR Marquise Goodwin (knee, foot) were limited Friday, Dec. 6, and are listed as questionable. RB Matt Breida (ankle), DE Dee Ford (quad, hamstring), DL D.J. Jones (ankle), TE George Kittle (knee, ankle), WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder), WR Emmanuel Sanders (ribs) and CB Richard Sherman (knee) were able to practice in full Friday and have been removed from the injury report.

Our View: Staley's status is key for an offensive line that will need all hands on deck to slow down a hot Saints pass rush.
