Summary

Olsen made his way back from a foot injury after consecutive lost seasons and didn't embarrass himself at age-34 (TE13 in PPR scoring). When you consider he played with a compromised Cam Newton, erratic Kyle Allen, and way-too-green Will Grier as his quarterbacks, Olsen could very well have another TE1 season left in the tank before he inevitably retires to pursue a TV analyst job. He's stepping into an intriguing opportunity in Seattle. The combination of Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister accounted for six weekly top-10 tight end fantasy finishes last season, which was the same as Darren Waller and one more than Austin Hooper. Whether or not Olsen will get the lion's share of snaps likely depends on Dissly's recovery from a torn Achilles. Dissly has an outside chance of being fully rehabbed by the start of the season (he recovered quickly from a ruptured patellar tendon a year prior) but faces an uphill battle. Olsen is positioned for boring-but-adequate low-end TE1 numbers, at least until Dissly returns. (May 6)

Latest News

Seahawks | Greg Olsen out at least a month (Tue Nov 24, 04:02 PM) - Updating previous reports, Seattle Seahawks TE Greg Olsen (foot) has reportedly been given about a four- to six-week timetable to return from his torn plantar fascia, although the situation remains 'unclear for now,' according to comments made by head coach Pete Carroll on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Our View: Seattle has put Olsen on Injured Reserve, forcing him from action for at least three weeks. However, with the severity of this injury and his age we might have seen the final snaps of Olsen's career. He has promised to return and finish on his terms but the NFL doesn't really allow that for some players.

Seahawks | Greg Olsen suffers foot injury (Fri Nov 20, 02:39 AM) - Seattle Seahawks TE Greg Olsen (foot) suffered a fascia tear in his left foot during the team's Week 11 game against the Arizona Cardinals. The team fears it may be a complete rupture, and it's unclear if Olsen will be able to return this season.

Our View: Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister have a little more appeal as desperation plays with Olsen out of the mix. The Seahawks are probably better equipped to handle an injury at tight end than any team in the league.
