McCaffrey is week to week with a shoulder injury and is unlikely to play in Week 11

Summary

Last season, the NFL's ultimate offensive weapon was on the field for 93% of the Panthers snaps, which includes Week 17 where he rested for half of the game. Christian McCaffrey is a versatile do-everything back and receiver who also can score. He was the #1 fantasy running back in all formats last season, scoring 151 more points than the next closest running back (Aaron Jones) in PPR format. Perhaps last season's accomplishment of 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards will be the pinnacle performance of his career, but he is still a highly productive running back with no sign of stopping. The 2020 season brings change to the Panthers offense with a new head coach in Matt Rhule, a new offensive coordinator, Joe Brady, and a new quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater. While the coaching staff contends they will utilize McCaffrey as the weapon that he is, it's possible and expected that he will see fewer reps in an effort to not abuse his skills and keep him rested for the betterment of his career. Having said that, Joe Brady is coming from an offense that produced record-breaking numbers at LSU. McCaffrey may not reach the 1,000/1,000 Club again, but his unique skill set and versatility as an all-purpose back makes him a viable candidate to repeat his top fantasy ranking. (April 30)

Panthers | Christian McCaffrey to miss more time? (Mon Nov 23, 03:38 PM) - Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) was deemed 'week-to-week' by head coach Matt Rhule on Monday, Nov. 23.

Our View: McCaffrey needs more time to get right. There was initial optimism surrounding this injury but that has proven to be a bit off. McCaffrey will get the proper time to heal which means we may not see him for some time. Mike Davis continues as the starter for the Panthers.

Our View: PJ Walker will get the start, which isn't a good development for your Panthers offensive pieces and might nudge you to play the Lions defense today.

Panthers | Christian McCaffrey to miss another game (Fri Nov 20, 04:04 PM) - Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 20, and has been ruled out for Week 11.

Our View: The Panthers have a Week 13 bye, so it's looking more likely by the day that Week 14 will be the earliest return date for McCaffrey.
