Summary

Between injury and inconsistent play, 2018 could not have gone worse for the second-round draft pick. Jones' highlight rushing performance was a meager 2.9 yards-per-carry early in the season on 10 rushes and Jones averaged less than 5.0 yards-per-reception on the year as well. Peyton Barber maintained the starting role without challenge in 2018 and the depth chart remains unchanged to begin 2019. (May 22)

Buccaneers | Ronald Jones turned heads in spring (Tue Jul 16, 05:54 PM) - Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones 'received only raves' from the new coaching staff, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, who noted his standout spring came without pads.

Our View: We'll see if Jones can actually start playing up to his potential this year. A highly-touted second-round pick out of USC in 2018, Jones had an incredibly disappointing rookie season. He appeared in only nine games, rushing the ball 23 times for just 44 yards. Jones has a chance to beat out Peyton Barber in training camp this year for the top spot on the Bucs depth chart.

Buccaneers | Ronald Jones bulked up for 2019 (Sat Jul 13, 11:25 PM) - Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones said he added muscle this offseason, going from 208 to 221 pounds. 'I've been training with my guy, eating four or five meals a day, protein shakes right after workouts,' Jones said. 'I'm bigger.'

Our View: Jones has plenty of speed to make big plays but he disappointed during his rookie season in 2018. If he puts his physical tools together and starts to play up to his potential, then Jones could be a quality starter. Jones is going to battle with Peyton Barber for the top spot on the Bucs depth chart. His current ADP is RB37 (8.05) while Barber is coming off the board at RB50 (11.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.
