Summary

The Broncos have always liked Devontae Booker. He's a big back they picked up in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft with the idea that he could beat out then starter C.J. Anderson and become the next great Broncos back. Neither one of those things happened. Instead, Booker has been banged up and produced at a disappointing level when healthy. Booker is now the third-string back for the Broncos behind Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman. He provides the team with valuable veteran depth but there are not going to be a lot of touches in store for the veteran unless someone is hurt above him on the depth chart. Booker does have great hands and perhaps could be used effectively as a receiver out of the backfield in 2019. In the final year of his contract, we'll see if Booker can get some snaps and impress enough to earn a larger opportunity elsewhere because with Lindsay and Freeman both entering their second year in the pros there just isn't any opportunity for Booker.
