2013 Game Summaries

Week 3 - Taylor split some time with Andrew Quarless at tight end once Jermichael Finley left the game with a concussion. Taylor, like Quarless, is a significant step down from Finley in terms of ability and didn't have much luck getting open or making any plays once he got the ball. He did do a nice job on a short out route where he caught the ball and immediately turned upfield for the first down.

Week 5 - A seventh round pick in 2011, Ryan Taylor has been a perennial bench player and special teamer and his one target on Sunday reinforced why that is. On the play Taylor got behind the linebackers and the safety was late coming over to help—so Taylor was as wide open as you can get. Aaron Rodgers threw a perfect ball to him—right on the money and right through his hands. He may not have made it to the end zone, but he would have been very close.

Week 10 - The only target Ryan Taylor had was a short dump pass for a first down, which he fumbled while turning upfield. Luckily he recovered his own fumble.

Week 11 - The only target Ryan Taylor had was a short dump pass for a first down, which he fumbled while turning upfield. Luckily he recovered his own fumble.

Week 13 - Tight end Ryan Taylor had just one catch, a nice eight-yard reception on a short “out” slant route during which he got destroyed by Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy after the catch. Ryan held onto the ball, but the hit knocked him out of the game as well.

Week 14 - Primarily used as a blocking tight end, Ryan Taylor only saw two targets—a short out he almost converted for a first down and a screen pass that Atlanta sniffed out and shut down immediately.

Week 15 - Taylor’s only target came late in the first half. Taykor ran a short out route but Matt Flynn threw the ball too far off target and Taylor couldn’t make a play. The ball went off his fingertips.
