Outlook
With Doug Martin coming off a season-ending shoulder injury and missing 10 games in 2013, Tampa Bay selected Charles Sims in the third round of the NFL draft. Sims is a well-rounded back with his greatest strength coming in the passing game. Sims is one of best pass-catching backs coming out of college in the past 15 years, averaging more than 40 receiving yards per game in three straight seasons. He has above-average straight-line speed and explosion, but lacks the agility to consistently break down defenders in one-on-one situations. However, he suffered a serious right ankle injury that will require surgery and a 12-14 week recovery frame (as of August 15, 2014). He'll likely be placed on IR/designated to return if the surgeons confirm the 12-14 week estimate after the surgical repair. In any case, Sim's redraft appeal for this season has taken a serious hit - he's more of a waiver-wire, mid-season pickup candidate at this point during August.
