2013 Game Summaries
Week 3 - Scheffler was a seldom-used possession target with two short targets. Both were defended quickly by the Washington defenders, including one that was stuffed for a loss on third down. Rookie Joseph Fauria looks to be getting incorporated into the offense more than Scheffler.
Week 4 - Scheffler converted a quick slant into a big gain with yards after the catch on his lone reception against the Bears. On his only other opportunity in the passing game, Scheffler dropped a third down target. The Lions had to settle for a field goal on the drive.
Week 5 - Scheffler had more targets in this game than the previous four weeks combined. He was used as a split-out receiver with regularity. While he possesses the ability to beat linebackers and safeties down the field, his glaring inconsistency was apparent against Green Bay. Scheffler contributed two big receptions late in the game, but Detroit was already down by multiple scores. Earlier in the fourth quarter, Scheffler dropped a pass on a key third down.
