2013 Game Summaries

Week 3 - Khiry Robinson entered the game with just over four minutes remaining and carried the ball four straight plays for a total of 38 yards to become the Saints' leading rusher on the day. He ran very strong and displayed some speed to go along with his 220-pound frame.

Week 4 - Robinson got a rushing opportunity on the Saints’ first possession, running hard up the middle for four yards. Robinson lost two on his next carry as the Saints offensive line struggled with the defensive front. Robinson carried again on the first play of the fifth offensive series, but gained only 1 yard. Robinson kicked off the Saints’ final scoring drive with a nice 6-yard run, a cut-back that actually had a little break in the defensive line. Robinson finally broke free for some positive rushing yardage as the Dolphins appeared to tire at the beginning of the fourth quarter. He followed the blocking well as they opened a nice hole on the right side and fell forward for 11-yards and another first down. The next play was a sweep to the left and Robinson got outside again falling forward for ten yards and another first down. On the next play, the linebackers stepped up, but he kept his legs churning and ground out another 6-yard gain. Robinson was the team’s leading rusher, but only gained 37 yards on 12 carries as the team managed only 68 yards total on the ground on 24 attempts.

Week 5 - Khiry Robinson got his first carry on the Saints' third possession and gained eight yards and a first down as the pile was shoved forward by Jed Collins. He managed only two more carries on the day and was not targeted.

Week 6 - Khiry Robinson did not have a carry in the first half, but got one on the Saints' first TD drive of the second half, driving though a big hole and showing quickness on a 16 yard gain for a first down. Robinson's second carry went for three yards and a TD. Robinson again got the call on the Saints' final TD drive, first carrying for a huge 20 yard gain down the Patriots 35-yard line. The next play, he again hit the middle for another four yards. His last three rushes gained another ten yards.

Week 8 - Khiry Robinson entered the game early and got back to back carries on the Saints' second possession. He gained 1 yard, but was met in the backfield and lost two on the third down carry. He wound up with 7 total carries, but never had any room to run and totaled only 9 yards on the game. He was not targeted in the passing game.

Week 15 - Khiry Robinson got a carry in a goal to go situation and almost stretched the ball in for a score, but was ruled just short.

Week 16 - Robinson entered the game a short time after Ingram was injured. He ran hard and had some success early. His first three carries went for 3, 7, and 5 yards and picked up one first down. His next two found little operating room and gained only 3 yards combined. All these carries came on the Saints TD drive, which was one of the few times all day that the Panthers defense seemed vulnerable. Robinson had another carry late in the game as the Saints attempted to run out the clock, but was stopped for no gain.

Week 17 - Robinson received the most carries of any Saints back on the afternoon thanks to a significant lead. All of Robinson's carries came late in the 3rd or 4th quarter when the game was out of hand. Despite only playing in mop up duty, Robinson ran hard. He shows great tackle breaking ability. His low center of gravity makes him difficult to bring down. He has great leg drive once he is wrapped up, enabling him to gain extra yards. Late in the third quarter, Robinson took the hand off and raced around the left end of the line of scrimmage and into Bucs territory for 25 yards. The remainder of his carries were tough plodding carries for only a few yards. But Robinson did what the Saints asked, grinding out tough yards in the closing minutes of the game.

Week 18 - Khiry Robinson made some vital plays for the Saints in critical situations. He showed patience and ran physical. He always made positive yardage and was a factor in the Saints getting into a lot of 3rd and short yardage situations. He carried the ball three times in the Saints game winning drive, including gains of 13, 4, and 6 yards. His final carry set up the 3rd down and short play that Brees followed up with a quarterback sneak to convert the first down and run out the clock. His production might have been only half of what Ingramís was, but his contribution was critical as the Saints were missing Pierre Thomas.

Week 19 - Robinson started the game and ran hard for the Saints. He ran decisively and made several good cuts, but still averaged only 4.4 ypc for the game. He also had one target and caught the pass, gaining 13 yards and a first down. He carried three times in the 1st quarter, gaining 4 yards each on two carries and was stopped for no gain on the other. He had two long runs in the 2nd quarter, carrying for 13 and 17 yards and making a first down on each carry. On the 13 yard gain, it looked like he had been tackled, but he managed to keep his feet moving as he fell across a defender and kept moving forward to add yardage. Immediately after the 17 yard gain, he carried three consecutive plays but managed only 6 yards. It was telling that he was in the backfield for consecutive carries inside the 5-yard line as the Saints drove for their 1st TD, which was scored by Robinson on a one yard carry off right tackle.
