Best Case

McKinnon steps in to a backup role behind Adrian Peterson. Heís not going to see a lot of playing time. That being said, Peterson isnít getting younger and the Vikings may want to give him a few more plays off each week. McKinnon could see 60 or more touches this season as Petersonís backup and even more if Peterson goes down to injury.

Worst Case

Adrian Peterson continues to defy the standard running back measurements and turns in another top five season. With McKinnon filling in with just a couple carries each game, his fantasy impact is very minimal this season

Outlook

Anyone who fills in for Adrian Peterson needs to have a lot of patience. Just ask Toby Gerhart. However, Peterson showed signs of slowing down last season, and McKinnon could get a few more carries than backs in previous seasons. Until proven otherwise though, expect Peterson to be the guy that gets the majority of the carries this season.
