Browns | Baker Mayfield viewed as long-term QB (Mon Jan 18, 02:19 AM) - Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield could be approached about a contract extension during the offseason, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who said that the team is now 'all in' and believes that Mayfield is their 'franchise quarterback.' Rapoport also added that there is 'no rush' on the extension with Mayfield under team control for the next two seasons if the club exercises its fifth-year option. Our View: The Browns have to make a decision on Mayfield's fifth-year option this offseason. That will keep him under contract for the next two seasons if implemented and give them time to find a good price tag for a long-term deal. Mayfield could get a contract that makes him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.link to story Browns | Cleveland's playoff run ends (Sun Jan 17, 06:30 PM) - Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield went 23-for-37 for 204 yards, one touchdown and one interception against Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round playoff game. RB Nick Chubb rushed for 69 yards on 13 carries, while RB Kareem Hunt rushed for 32 yards and one touchdown on six carries. WR Rashard Higgins caught five passes for 88 yards on seven targets, TE David Njoku caught four passes for 59 yards on five targets and WR Jarvis Landry caught seven passes for 20 yards and one touchdown on 10 targets. Our View: It was a valiant effort by the Browns. They had a chance to win it at the end but the Chiefs would not give them the ball back with time dwindling. Cleveland made great strides this season under first-year head coach Kevin Stefanski. We're excited to see what their future holds as the team continues to build from being a playoff contender to a Super Bowl contender.
