Chiefs | Extension for Patrick Mahomes may wait (Tue Jan 28, 03:21 PM) - Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is eligible for an contract extension, but team chairman Clark Hunt said the two sides may not reach an agreement this offseason. Hunt said signing Mahomes to an extension is a priority, but it needs to be at the right time for both sides.

Our View: Mahomes is eligible to get a contract extension this offseason and the sooner the better for the Chiefs because his price is just going to keep going up. We will see him be the highest-paid player in the NFL when the Chiefs do end up giving him an extension. According to OverTheCap.com, the Chiefs only have around $18 million in cap space at this time.

Chiefs | Brett Favre sees self in Patrick Mahomes (Sat Jan 25, 12:25 PM) - Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes reminds retired QB Brett Favre of himself with some of the traits he has displayed on the field. 'I see the comparison,″ Favre said. 'He may not admit this but he probably feels there is no throw he can't make or no angle he can't make it from. Whether he's flushed left or to the right, his vision always is down the field. I was always looking for the big play first and knew I could always react underneath if I needed, too. You have to have a certain confidence or air about you that you can make any throw, and it has been proven he can make any throw.'

Our View: It's always difficult throwing around GOAT comparisons for young players but Mahomes certainly fits the bill. Favre made unorthodox plays but was a great passer...just like Mahomes. We think Mahomes has a bit of John Elway to his games as well with a level of athleticism that Favre didn't have. How is that for comparisons?

Chiefs | Patrick Mahomes piling up records (Sun Jan 19, 10:56 PM) - Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes' 87 passing touchdowns in his first 35 games, including playoffs, are the most in NFL history. His 11 passing touchdowns and 142 pass attempts without an interception to begin his playoff career are both the most on record, and he is one of just two players to have at least 250 passing yards, three or more passing touchdowns and at least 50 rushing yards in multiple career playoff games.

He also ran for 53 yards and a touchdown. RB Damien Williams rushed 17 times for 45 yards and a touchdown, adding five receptions for 44 yards.
