2013 Game Summaries

Week 4 - Collins was targeted once and ran hard till he was brought down by a couple of defenders managing a 6-yard gain.

Week 5 - Jed Collins was targeted on the first drive catching a swing pass out of the backfield for 5 yards and a first down. Collins had another red-zone target that fell incomplete in the end zone. In the Saints' first TD drive, Collins caught his second pass and stretched out for the goal line, but came up two yards short as he gained five yards. It was his third target inside the ten-yard line. He continued to be heavily featured in the conservative play calling getting four receptions on five targets and rushing the ball three times. This game was likely the career high for Jed Collins being discussed in a telecast and he was a definite positive factor in the Saints' victory.

Week 6 - Jed Collins caught a pass for a short gain that converted a first down. That was his only target in the game. Late in the Saints' final scoring drive, he had a carry for a one yard gain.

Week 8 - Jed Collins caught his only target for a gain of 8 yards and a first down.

Week 9 - Jed Collins had one carry and ran well behind good blocking for a gain of 7 yards taking the Saints into the red zone. His other play was one of the gameís lowlights for the Saints. Collins was targeted on a 3rd and 1 yard to go and should have easily converted the first down, but flat out dropped the pass. The Saints went for it on 4th down and failed to convert, which was a huge turning point on the game.

Week 10 - Collins did not show up in the stat sheet, but along with the offensive line blocked very well all game as the Saints rushed for 242 yards, easily their best rushing game of the season.

Week 11 - Jed Collins made a reception on the Saints first scoring drive, gaining 3 yards to give them a little breathing room to the 6-yard line. Collins took his first carry for one yard and a TD to close out the first half scoring. Collins had another carry on a short yardage situation in the 3rd quarter, running hard for a gain of 1 yard and a first down. He had limited touches as normal, but had great production on each opportunity.

Week 13 - Jed Collins made the first big play for the Saints gaining 12 yards and the Saints initial first down to close out the first quarter. Collins made a difficult catch late in the first half, but gained only one yard.

Week 14 - Jed Collins had one carry for no gain and caught one pass for a meager 4-yard gain. He was Johnny on the spot late in the 4th quarter, recovering the fumble as Drew Brees was sacked and lost the ball.

Week 15 - Jed Collins had a target early in the 4th quarter as the Saints drove for their first touchdown, but the pass fell incomplete as the defender undercut Collins and almost made the interception.

Week 16 - Collins had a carry on the first drive and converted the short yardage play for a gain of 2 yards and a first down. He was targeted once in the first half and caught a check down by Brees, but lost 2 yards. Collins had a 3rd down carry in the storm and gained 3 yards picking up a first down. He had another carry late in the 3rd quarter, but the play gained only 2 yards. He caught a screen pass on the next play, but gained only 6 yards.

Week 18 - Jed Collins had one target, but the pass fell incomplete. He made perhaps his best play of the game hitting Brees in the back on one of his quarterback sneaks and powering him forward to pick up the first down.
