The Colts are loaded with receiving talent heading into the 2014 season. Andrew Luck will have plenty of options to choose from, including third year tight end, Dwayne Allen. Bad news fell upon Allen in week one last year when he was lost for the season with a hip injury. After months of rehabilitating from surgery, he is ready to return to the field as a dominant in-line tight end. What makes Allen special is his ability to block and also turn up field and create mismatches against opposing linebackers and safeties. The combination of tight ends Allen and Coby Fleener adds an extra dimension to the Colts passing game. A multitude of weapons is at the disposal of the athletic and accurate Andrew Luck. With so many mouths to feed on offense, Dwayne Allen could struggle to find consistent production on a week to week basis.

2013 Game Summaries

Week 1 - Dwayne Allen only needed one target to get himself a TD, off a nice play action from Luck, Allen caught it at the 5 and had to fight to reach pay dirt, ultimately doing so. On Allen's second target though, Luck left him out to dry and when Allen came down from trying to grab it, he landed awkwardly on his back. After the game it was acknowledged by Coach Pagano to be some sort of a hip injury, needing an MRI Monday morning. At the time this article was published, news on the MRI had not yet been released however it definitely is something Allen owners will want to pay attention to.
