Former Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward did not mention QB Ben Roethlisberger during his retirement press conference. Roethlisberger was also not in attendance during the press conference. The ex-teammates were reportedly not considered chummy.

Footballguys view: Some thought Ward would end up in Arizona where he could be reunited with Ken Whisenhunt. The team needs help at the WR position, but Ward is nowhere near the player he used to be. The Jaguars may be a landing spot for Ward, but we can't imagine many teams interested in the veteran WR.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward, who will be released by the team, said Wednesday, Feb. 29, he will resume his career in 2012 with another team. 'I gave my heart and soul for you every down and I will always bleed black and gold. I do feel that I still have more football left in me and I am looking forward to playing in the NFL, again, this upcoming season,' Ward said in a statement.

Footballguys view: It's going to be very odd seeing him in a different jersey. He's not the same player he used to be but we could see him reuniting with Ken Whisenhunt in Arizona.

Footballguys view: Ward has already stated he'd be willing to restructure his deal in order to stay with the Steelers. We'll see if the two sides can come to a mutual agreement. We'd hate to see Ward in any other jersey in 2012.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward plead guilty to reckless driving Wednesday, Feb. 22, after driving under the influence charges were dropped which he was originally charged with in an arrest in July. Ward was sentenced to serve 12 months' probation, 80 hours of community service and a $2,000 fine.

'That's fine with me. I recognize that. I'm telling you I want to be here, I'm telling you I'm willing to do that. And I understand the ramifications - we have the cap number and stuff, but I want to be here.'

Footballguys view: We don't want to see Ward with another team, so perhaps by reducing his salary he could stay with the team that drafted him.

'I'm not even thinking about that,' Ward said Sunday, Jan. 8. Ward's production was way down this season, as he had just 46 catches for 381 yards and two scores in 15 games (nine starts). Each of those numbers were his lowest since his rookie season of 1998.

Footballguys view: Ward's not the same player he used to be. It wouldn't surprise us to see him hang up his cleats for good.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward had five grabs for 24 yards in Week 17 against the Cleveland Browns. Ward has not had more than 32 receiving yards since Week 6. His season high was 67 yards, set back in Week 1. He was able to snag his 1,000th career reception, becoming the eighth player in NFL history to accomplish that feat.

Footballguys view: We're witnessing the end of Hines Ward being a factor in the Steelers passing game. Simply put, Cotchery is doing more with his targets than Ward is. Hines is one of the greatest Steelers of all time but shouldn't be much of a fantasy factor going forward.

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Sunday, Nov. 6, after the Week 9 game against the Baltimore Ravens that WR Hines Ward (concussion) had concussion-like symptoms, which is why he did not return. However, Tomlin said the concussion is 'minor.'

Footballguys view: Ward might not miss next week based on this, but the pattern of nicks and bumps as an older player is clear. Expect Antonio Brown to retain value down the stretch.
