The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released TE Jerramy Stevens, the team announced Monday, Oct. 25.
Footballguys view: Not a surprise here. Jerramy Stevens has failed to stay out of trouble during his entire career. This latest incident was the final straw, and the Bucs decided to let him go. |

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have declared DL Alex Magee, DL Brian Price, FB Earnest Graham, CB Elbert Mack, C Jeff Faine, TE Jerramy Stevens, OG Keydrick Vincent, QB Rudy Carpenter inactive for Week 7.
Footballguys view: With Price out expect Steven Jackson to have an even easier time running the ball against a defense that has failed to hold an opposing starting RB under 140 yards the last three weeks. |

CBSSports.com notes the Tampa Tribune reports Tampa Bay TE Jerramy Stevens, who caught only 15 passes for 130 yards and one touchdown last year, hopes to be more involved this season and play in tandem with starting TE Kellen Winslow. "The plan was to have both Kellen and I on the field for us to have our greatest advantage, but we got away from that for whatever reason and it was definitely frustrating," Stevens said Tuesday. "Now, it's my job to remind Josh Freeman that I'm here and I'm going to make plays for you." Offensive coordinator Greg Olson is determined to utilize Stevens more. "Both Jerramy and Kellen are very talented targets," Olson said. "We have to try and get our best 11 players on the field. I'm confident there has been an opportunity during this offseason for Jerramy and Josh to develop a relationship. There's no question Jerramy Stevens needs to be a bigger part of this offense."
Footballguys view: Stevens is a big, athletic target who has had a few good games here and there throughout his career. He's unlikely to see much playing time this year unless Kellen Winslow gets hurt. |

Buccaneers.com reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Kellen Winslow is not taking part in team drills Tuesday, Aug. 18. He is running around with the team's other tight ends, but not wearing pads.
Footballguys view: No injury concern for Winslow here as he's not banged up, the team just has him on a one-practice-a-day schedule. The Bucs rotate in Jerramy Stevens when Winslow is out, and vice versa. |
