Chicago Bears LB Roquan Smith requested a trade Tuesday, Aug. 9. The Bears offended Smith with a backloaded offer, which wouldn't make him the highest paid in actual salary, included proposed de-escalators that no player out of the 94 non-QB, $15-plus million players have.
| Footballguys view: Smith is under his fifth-year option, which would put him on the books for $9.7 million in 2022. A first-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft, Smith is one of the best in the game at his position and he wants to be valued as such.
