Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jaylen Samuels isn't in 'the category of a lock' to make the 53-man roster, according to Bob Labriola of Steelers.com.
| Footballguys view: The Steelers have a jam-packed backfield with more talent added this offseason in the draft (Anthony McFarland). However, no player in that backfield is as versatile as Samuels. He's a jack-of-all-trades as a running back and can be used as a slot receiver or gadget quarterback if called upon. The Steelers don't seem to have a clue how to use Samuels properly and he seems to be miscast in this offense. We'll see this battle shake out in training camp and will monitor Samuels in dynasty leagues. |

Pittsburgh Steelers OG Ramon Foster (concussion) and RB Benny Snell (knee) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts. RB James Conner (shoulder) also did not practice all week and is listed as doubtful. FB Roosevelt Nix (knee) was limited Friday, Nov. 1, after being added to the injury report and is listed as questionable. DT Daniel McCullers (ankle), C Maurkice Pouncey (calf), LB Ulysees Gilbert III (back), TE Vance McDonald (non-injury) and RB Jaylen Samuels practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report. LB Mark Barron (non-injury) was not given a practice designation Friday but has also been removed from the injury report.
