Denver Broncos QBs Drew Lock, Brett Rypien and Blake Bortles were activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Dec. 1.
Footballguys view: The Broncos should have Drew Lock on the field as their starter on Sunday night against the Chiefs. There could be some discipline for Lock from the team or the league but we doubt that includes a benching. We could see fines for the quarterback room after they failed to follow COVID protocol and all had to miss the game against the Saints in Week 12. |

Denver Broncos QB Drew Lock, QB Brett Rypien and QB Blake Bortles tested negative Tuesday, Dec. 1, for COVID-19 and have cleared protocols.
Footballguys view: Lock should be under center for the Broncos on Sunday night against the Chiefs in Week 13. There might be some discipline from the team or the league since this quarterback room violated COVID protocols last week and were all unavailable to play in Week 12. Lock is running out of time to prove himself as a potential franchise quarterback for the Broncos. Right now, Lock is just trying to prove that he can be adequate consistently. |

Updating a previous story, Denver Broncos QBs Drew Lock, Brett Rypien and Blake Bortles have been ruled ineligible for the game Sunday, Nov. 29, against the New Orleans Saints due to COVID-19 contact tracing, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Absolutely huge news for the Broncos here. They are not going to forfeit this game but have to move forward with RB Royce Freeman (their emergency quarterback) as the starter. They can run Wildcat formation with RBs Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay if they choose. Also, it has been suggested that practice squad WR Kendall Hinton (a three-year starting QB at Wake Forest) could step into the role. Stay tuned. |

Denver Broncos QB Drew Lock (shoulder) has a 50-50 chance to play in the Week 5 game, according to head coach Vic Fangio. QB Brett Rypien will continue to start if Lock is not able to play.
Footballguys view: So much for our hopes of seeing Blake Bortles on an NFL field again. |

Denver Broncos QB Brett Rypien completed 19 of his 31 passes for 242 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions against the New York Jets on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Footballguys view: Rypien had some excellent passes on Thursday night, but also made too many mistakes, which is to be expected. He did enough to hang around as a third quarterback with aspirations to be a backup, but Drew Lock could be back next week and the Broncos could also go with Blake Bortles against New England, so Rypien's 2QB/Superflex value is hanging by a thread. |

Denver Broncos QB Brett Rypien is expected to be named the starting quarterback for Week 4 against the New York Jets, according to multiple sources.
Footballguys view: That sounds about right. Rypien came in for the Broncos on their last drive and moved the team into scoring position before tossing an interception (targeted for Jerry Jeudy) in the end zone. He's a smart quarterback with good footwork but an average arm at best. The Broncos should try and run the ball more with an inexperienced quarterback making his first start. We'll see if OC Pat Shurmur shows more creativity against the Jets. |

Free-agent QB Brett Rypien, WR Trinity Benson, WR Fred Brown, OL Patrick Morris, T Quinn Bailey, T Darrin Paulo, T Jake Rodgers, RB LeVante Bellamy, RB Jeremy Cox, OLB Derrek Tuszka, LB Josh Watson, S Alijah Holder, S P.J. Locke, CB De'Vante Bausby and DL DeShawn Williams were signed to the Denver Broncos practice squad Sunday, Sept. 6.
Footballguys view: Look out for Bellamy here in deep dynasty formats. He's built like Phillip Lindsay and runs like him too. Bellamy was a sponge in camp, learning as much from Lindsay as possible...and he performed well in practice too. Royce Freeman is likely gone in 2021 and Lindsay might be too. That makes Bellamy a player to watch. |

Locke, C Pat Morris, T Darrin Paulo, T Jake Rodgers, QB Brett Rypien, OLB Derrek Tuszka, LB Josh Watson, OT Hunter Watts, WR Cody White, DL DeShawn Williams and WR Juwann Winfree on Saturday, Sept. 5, were placed on waivers. Also Saturday, CB De'Vante Bausby was released and TE Troy Fumagalli (infection) was placed on the Waived/Injured list.

Denver Broncos QB Brett Rypien, WR Trinity Benson, Juwann Winfree, LB Derrek Tuszka, RB Jeremy Cox, OT Darrin Paulo, S P.J. Locke, OT Tyler Jones, WR Kendall Hinton, OT Hunter Watts, LB Justin Hollins, OL Patrick Morris, S Alijah Holder, LB Malik Carney, WR Fred Brown, RB LeVante Bellamy and TE Troy Fumagalli were placed on waivers Saturday, Sept., 5, while CB De'Vante Bausby, OT Jake Rodgers and DL DeShawn Williams were released, according to source.
Footballguys view: Winfree had a groin injury for most of camp that kept him out of action. Bellamy looked really good in practice, kind of like a version of Phillip Lindsay (similar running styles), so the team will try to keep him on the practice squad. |

Denver Broncos QB Brett Rypien is not expected to make the final roster but likely will be a practice squad option if he cleared waivers.
Footballguys view: Rypien looked like a camp arm last year. He's a developmental quarterback the team could keep around on the PS. Drew Lock is the clear-cut starter and veteran Jeff Driskel was added this offseason to be his primary backup. |

Free-agent QB Brett Rypien (Broncos) was signed to the practice squad of the Denver Broncos Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Footballguys view: Rypien is a pro-style quarterback who was serving as the backup to Brandon Allen for a few weeks. With Drew Lock starting, the team made Allen the backup and have put Rypien back on the practice. He was undrafted out of Boise State this year and is a prospect we will continue to monitor but only in deep dynasty formats. |

Free-agent QB Brett Rypien will be signed to the Denver Broncos practice squad.
Footballguys view: Rypien was the backup to Brandon Allen, but with Drew Lock healthy the team wanted to make room for their 2019 second-round pick and potential franchise quarterback. They cut Rypien with the idea of adding him to the practice squad and here he is. Rypien is a good pro-style quarterback we will monitor in super deep dynasty formats. |

Denver Broncos QB Drew Lock (thumb) on Saturday, Nov. 30, was activated off the Reserve/Injured list. In a corresponding move, QB Brett Rypien was waived.
Footballguys view: Lock is likely to start on Sunday against the Chargers. The team hasn't made that announcement yet, but Lock took 75 percent of the starter's reps in practice this week. The rookie second-round pick has a rocket arm and is quite athletic. We'll see if he can flash the signs that he's the Broncos quarterback of the future over the next five games. |

Denver Broncos QB Brett Rypien will be elevated from the practice squad to the active roster and serve as backup to QB Brandon Allen in Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns, according to the Denver Post's Kyle Newman.
Footballguys view: It's going to be the undrafted rookie and not the team's second-round rookie (Drew Lock). That's not as big of a deal as some want to make it out to be because Lock is still on Injured Reserve. Rypien has been running the scout team and throwing passes in practice. When Lock is activated, the team could release Rypien and put him back on the practice squad. |

The Denver Broncos added CB Alijah Holder, QB Brett Rypien, DT Deyon Sizer, DL Ahmad Gooden, OT Quinn Bailey, WR Fred Brown and OT Tyler Jones to their practice squad Sunday, Sept. 1.
Footballguys view: Rypien is a player we'll monitor in crazy deep dynasty formats. He's confident and accurate as a passer on short-to-intermediate routes. We'll see if he can develop on the practice squad for Denver. |

Denver Broncos SS Shamarko Thomas was released Saturday, Aug. 31. CB Dymonte Thomas (undisclosed) was waived/injured. The Broncos also let go of FB George Aston, OT Quinn Bailey, WR Trinity Benson, LB Keishawn Bierria, QB Brett Rypien, S Jamal Carter, LB Joe Dineen Jr., DL Ahmad Gooden, CB Alijah Holder, RB Devontae Jackson, OG Sam Jones, OT Tyler Jones, OL John Leglue, WR Kelvin McKnight, RB Khalfani Muhammad, DT Deyon Sizer and TE Moral Stephens.

Denver Broncos QB Brett Rypien impressed head coach Vic Fangio with his performance against the first-team defense Sunday, July 21. 'Brett, I think, maybe, he's got a future,' Fangio said.
Footballguys view: Rypien got a big bonus for an undrafted rookie and should be able to beat out Kevin Hogan to be the third quarterback, assuming second-round pick Drew Lock is ready to back up Joe Flacco. |
