Dallas Cowboys QB Garrett Gilbert is expected to start Week 9's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, since he has received the majority of reps in practice during the week, according to multiple sources.
Footballguys view: The Cowboys don't have great choices with Andy Dalton out of action. Gilbert is the lead quarterback, beating out Cooper Rush for that distinction in Week 9. |

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys QB Ben DiNucci will not get the start in place of an injured Andy Dalton in Week 9 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Footballguys view: The Cowboys will instead have practice-squaders Garrett Gilbert and Cooper Rush compete for the job in practice this week. Fantasy GMs with guys like RB Ezekiel Elliott and WR Amari Cooper (and others) will once again be dropping expectations for their assets with the Cowboys quarterback situation being problematic. |

Dallas Cowboys QB Cooper Rush has yet to be activated from the practice squad, but the team is reportedly 'seriously contemplating' making him their starting quarterback in Week 9 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Footballguys view: Rush has to compete with Garrett Gilbert for the starting job. It's a terrible matchup against a tough Steelers defense, so don't expect much from the Cowboys offense no matter who gets the start. |

Footballguys view: The Giants have a collection of receivers here to watch in crazy deep leagues. They've also kept around Rush as a developmental quarterback. There were supporters of Rush in the Cowboys organization so perhaps he can work his way onto the active roster with the Giants. |

New York Giants QBs Colt McCoy and Alex Tanney will compete for the No. 2 quarterback job during training camp. QB Cooper Rush could also have a chance to compete for the job.
Footballguys view: Rush is the new guy as he was released by the Cowboys after they signed QB Andy Dalton off the open market. He was a player we were watching in Dallas but only in crazy deep dynasty formats. That's the view we'll take with him now that he's with the Giants. Rush is really the only exciting player from this group behind Daniel Jones in such formats. |

Dallas Cowboys QB Cooper Rush was waived Monday, May 4.
Footballguys view: The team had to make some room for Andy Dalton on the roster. Rush was kind of a cult favorite in Dallas but now he will try to latch on with another team as more than a camp arm this summer. |

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys restricted free-agent QB Cooper Rush received the original round tender from the Cowboys.
Footballguys view: Rush getting an original round tender means the Cowboys would not receive any compensation if some team signs him away. |

Dallas Cowboys restricted free-agent QB Cooper Rush was tendered Thursday, March 12.
Footballguys view: It's an original round tender and because Rush was undrafted out of Central Michigan the Cowboys would not receive any compensation if he was signed away from them. Rush is set to be the backup to Dak Prescott once again this season. |

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys restricted free-agent QB Cooper Rush is expected to receive the original round tender this offseason, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Rush was undrafted out of Central Michigan in 2017. That means his tender would not come with any compensation if another team signs him away from the Cowboys. We don't think anybody will do that, so Rush should return as a backup option behind Dak Prescott in 2020. |

Dallas Cowboys QB Cooper Rush took first-team reps in practice Wednesday, Dec. 18 with QB Dak Prescott (shoulder) ailing. In three NFL seasons he has seen time in just five games with one completion in three total attempts.
Footballguys view: No worries here as Prescott is expected to play in Week 16. Just double check on Friday to see what his practice status is. Prescott is a QB1 for Fantasy GMs in championship week in this matchup against the Eagles on Sunday. |

Dallas Cowboys QB Mike White and QB Cooper Rush both have a 'clean slate' in the competition for the backup quarterback spot, according to quarterbacks coach Jon Kitna.
Footballguys view: White and Rush would both be upgrades at backup for some teams, so it will be interesting to see if the team fields offers for whoever ends up at #3. Assuming they sign Dak Prescott to a long term deal, they won't need both, but either could be coveted elsewhere. |
