Titans | Run blocking was no issue for Jonnu Smith    Mon May 25, 10:42 PM

Tennessee Titans TE Jonnu Smith was charged with only one blown block on 331 rushing snaps in 2019, tying him with Kyle Rudolph for the lowest blown block rate among tight ends with at least 200 rushing snaps (0.3).

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph showed off hands in 2019    Sun May 17, 06:44 PM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph did not record a drop in 2019, allowing him to join Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki as the only tight ends to achieve that feat while seeing at least 40 targets.

Footballguys view: Rudolph is a favorite target of QB Kirk Cousins and the Gary Kubiak offense is quite tight end friendly. Rudolph will continue to split time at the position with Irv Smith. He was the no.15 fantasy tight end in 2019 but Rudolph is going late in drafts at this time if he's even getting picked at all.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph has nose for end zone    Sun May 10, 09:54 PM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph and Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce are the only two tight ends with at least 30 receiving touchdowns since the start of the 2015 season

Footballguys view: Rudolph is a talented veteran and clearly a favorite target of QB Kirk Cousins. It's not only his nose for the end zone but it's mainly his reliability and consistency as a target. Rudolph knows how to sit down in a zone and square his shoulders to give his quarterback the largest possible target. Last year, Rudolph and Irv Smith split the targets at the position almost equally (49 for Rudolph, 47 for Smith) and that should continue in 2020. That makes Rudolph a low-end TE2 for Fantasy GMs this upcoming season.

Vikings | Minnesota sees 2019 season end    Sat Jan 11, 07:31 PM

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins went 21-for-29 for 172 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round playoff game. RB Dalvin Cook rushed for 18 yards on nine carries and caught six passes for eight yards during the game. WR Stefon Diggs caught two passes for 57 yards and one touchdown on five targets. WR Adam Thielen caught five passes for 50 yards on seven targets. TE Irv Smith caught three passes for 39 yards on three targets, while TE Kyle Rudolph caught two passes for four yards on three targets.

Footballguys view: It was a good run for the Vikings this season. They failed to make the palyoffs last year but made it to the Divisional Round this year. Next season, in the final season of Kirk Cousins contract, the Vikings are hoping to make the NFC Championship at least. We'll see if they can make that happen. This offseason, the secondary is a part of the team they'll need to improve to make that run.

Vikings | Minnesota moving on to next round    Sun Jan 5, 04:36 PM

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins went 19-for-31 for 242 yards and one touchdown against the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card playoff game. RB Dalvin Cook rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries and caught three passes for 36 yards. RB Alexander Mattison rushed for 20 yards on five carries and caught one pass for 10 yards. WR Adam Thielen caught seven passes for 129 yards on nine targets. TE Kyle Rudolph caught four passes for 31 yards and one touchdown on seven targets, while WR Stefon Diggs caught two passes for 19 yards on three targets.

Footballguys view: Cousins was able to make big plays when it counted...essentially for the first time in his career. He was not known for making plays in big or primetime games but Cousins was money on Sunday. The Vikings ran the ball well and controlled the tempo of the game with their rushing attack. It will be a battle of two similarly structured offenses in the Divisional Round as they take on the 49ers.

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (groin) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 13, and is not on the injury report for Week 15.

Footballguys view: Rudolph has been slowing down in fantasy scoring lately and Adam Thielen will be back this week to lower his ceiling further. He's not a preferred streamer against the Chargers.

Vikings | Another TD for Kyle Rudolph    Sun Nov 17, 06:27 PM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph ended up with five grabs for 67 yards and a score in Week 11 against the Denver Broncos.

Footballguys view: Rudolph had the go ahead score and has delivered on extra opportunity with Adam Thielen out. Thielen could return after the bye and Rudolph will become a low ceiling streamer but with a good matchup against Seattle coming out of the bye.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph to be more involved?    Thu Oct 24, 12:03 AM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph and TE Irv Smith Jr. could be a larger part of the offense in Week 8 against the Washington Redskins with WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) sidelined. Rudolph and Smith combined for 10 grabs, 118 yards and a touchdown in Week 7 against the Detroit Lions with Thielen out.

Footballguys view: Thielen isn't going to miss much time but the Vikings are passing the ball more in recent weeks. That automatically means more for the tight ends, including Rudolph, on the team. If there wasn't a split here at the position, Rudolph would have higher fantasy value.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph on track to play    Wed Oct 23, 02:22 PM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (thumb) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Footballguys view: Rudolph scored his first touchdown of the season last week. As the Vikings passing game has more punch, Rudolph has more fantasy value. He's worth considering as a streaming tight end option.

Vikings | Kirk Cousins learning to trust his TE    Wed Jul 31, 11:05 PM

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins said Wednesday, July 31, he's feeling much more confident working with TE Kyle Rudolph in their second training camp together. 'I've done a better job this camp ... of just trusting him more and throwing it to him even when he's covered,' Cousins told reporters Wednesday. 'I think today there were probably two or three examples of him catching the ball with the defender draped over him or pretty close to him. He is just such a trustworthy target, so little things like that, building a chemistry with him, you would've loved to say I did that last year, but I don't think I did enough.'

Footballguys view: Rudolph may not be flashy, but he's one of the most consistent tight ends in the league. His current ADP (TE19, 14.01) is something he could easily outperform. Rudolph is not a high-end TE1 but posting low-end TE1 numbers is quite possible again..especially with better chemistry with Cousins.

Vikings | More on Kyle Rudolph's deal    Tue Jun 11, 09:35 AM

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph received an additional $1.625 million this year to his $7.625 million base salary, according to a source. He received $9 million fully guaranteed and $16.025 million in total guarantees.

Footballguys view: Rudolph had zero remaining in dead money and a $7.6 million cap hit before this new deal. Now, Rudolph ranks as the fourth-highest paid tight end in the league.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph inks four-year extension    Tue Jun 11, 12:18 AM

The Minnesota Vikings signed TE Kyle Rudolph to a four-year extension worth $36 million on Monday, June 10.

Footballguys view: It was unknown earlier this offseason if Rudolph was going to get released, get traded or get a new contract. The Vikings opted for the latter with the veteran tight end. Rudolph is their lead tight end and now on the books for the Vikings through the 2023 season. He's been a top-10 fantasy tight end each of the last three seasons (No. 9 in 2018), but Rudolph's role with the team could be changing with the addition of 2019 second-round pick Irv Smith Jr. Rudolph has a current ADP of TE15 (13.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Vikings | Coach thinks Kyle Rudolph will stay    Wed May 22, 03:22 PM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph said he has received a five-year contract extension offer from the Vikings, and head coach Mike Zimmer is confident that Rudolph will remain with the team since the two sides are talking.

Footballguys view: Rudolph doesn't want to take a pay cut because he's 'too young' and the Vikings want to lower his cap number. They did select Alabama TE Irv Smith Jr. in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft to perhaps be Rudolph's eventual replacement, but they shouldn't be rushing the veteran out the door. There are rumors about what Rudolph wants and how the team may not give him that price, but we'll sit back and wait to see what happens here. It feels like it could go either way but at least Zimmer is optimistic.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph to practice Tuesday    Mon May 20, 06:10 PM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph said he plans to participate in practice Tuesday, May 21, even though his future with the team is uncertain.

Footballguys view: There are reports that the Vikings have not asked Rudolph to take a pay cut. Last week, Rudolph exclaimed that he wouldn't take a pay cut because he's 'too young' to do so. With a cap number of $7.6 million in 2018, the final year of his deal, we expect the Vikings to re-work that number in any way possible -- whether that be through extension or release.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph has received contract offer    Fri May 17, 05:55 PM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph has been offered a five-year contract extension, but the two sides have not made much progress in talks, according to a source. Rudolph would be paid among the top tight ends in the NFL if he signed the extension.

Footballguys view: Rudolph refused to take a pay cut because he said he was 'too young' to do that. With an extension being offered we could see a resolution to this in the near future. Rudolph is in the final year of his deal and has a cap number of $7.2 million in 2019. An extension for Rudolph would be a negative hit on the dynasty stock of second-round rookie TE Irv Smith Jr.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph declines pay cut    Thu May 16, 10:22 AM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph declined to take a pay cut, but he hopes to remain with the team. 'No, I won't,' Rudolph said. 'I'm too young for that.'

Footballguys view: Rudolph is on the books for $7.2 million in 2019. The Vikings don't want to extend him or they would've done that already. They're making plans for the future as they selected Alabama TE Irv Smith Jr. in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft. We'll see if the Vikings can resolve this situation by trading or releasing Rudolph. Stay tuned.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph hopes to stay    Mon May 13, 09:37 PM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph said he hopes to remain with the Vikings but would like a decision on his status with the team in the near future.

Footballguys view: Rudolph has one year left on his contract with the Vikings. He's on the books for around $7.6 million and there is zero remaining in dead money. The Vikings selected Alabama TE Irv Smith Jr. in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft, and he should be groomed to be the eventual starter. That doesn't bode well for Rudolph sticking in Minnesota.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph extension talks end    Fri May 10, 01:43 PM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph has been discussing a contract extension with the team, but those talks broke off Friday, May 10, according to sources. Trading Rudolph very much remains a possibility for the Vikings, and there is interest around the league.

Footballguys view: Irv Smith was the team's second round pick and he might have more to offer than Rudolph does right now. Tyler Conklin was coming on as a receiving option late last year and David Morgan is a quality blocker so the team could easily more on from Rudolph. The Patriots were a possibility, but it sounds like they will sign Ben Watson assuming he comes out of retirement.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph could remain a factor    Wed May 1, 10:21 AM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph could remain a factor in the offense after the team selected TE Irv Smith with the 50th selection in the NFL draft. Last season, the team ran 20 percent of its plays out of 12 personnel (one running back, two tight ends, two receivers), and the team thrived in it. QB Kirk Cousins had a 120.8 passer rating, and the team rushed for 4.2 yards per carry. Rudolph had 13.8 percent of Cousins' targets last year while notching 64 receptions for 634 yards (9.9 yards per catch) and four touchdowns.

Footballguys view: The Vikings did field calls to trade Rudolph during the 2019 NFL draft but no deal came to fruition. Rudolph is in the final year of his contract and can still be a pass-catching threat for the Vikings offense. Tight end can be a brutal position for Fantasy GMs, and Rudolph does have TE1 upside even with a limited role. He's been a top-10 fantasy tight end over the last three seasons and has a current ADP of TE8 (7.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph may rework deal    Sun Mar 10, 04:21 PM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph is believed to be in talks with the team about a possible pay cut, but it is not known if Rudolph would accept a reduced salary.

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph and Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate could be options for the Denver Broncos if they are cap casualties this offseason, according to Bill Barnwell, and Barnwell also believes the Broncos could target a tight end with an early pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
