Bengals | John Ross sustained injury while working out at CB    Sat Nov 14, 11:47 AM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (foot) suffered a foot injury during practice earlier this week while working out at cornerback because the team was shorthanded in the secondary, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Footballguys view: That's not what you want to happen when a player is essentially filling in during practice. Ross will not play in Week 10's game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers and could be sidelined beyond that.

The Cincinnati Bengals have declared WR John Ross, PK Austin Seibert, OG Keaton Sutherland, CB William Jackson III, TE Cethan Carter and RB Joe Mixon inactive for Week 7.

  Bengals | Cincinnati's Week 7 injury report    Fri Oct 23, 02:49 PM

Cincinnati Bengals CB William Jackson III (concussion) and RB Joe Mixon (foot) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 7 versus the Cleveland Browns. WR John Ross (illness) was added to the injury report and did not practice Friday, Oct. 23; he is listed as questionable. S Shawn Williams (hamstring) was limited in practice all week and is also listed as questionable. DT Geno Atkins (non-injury), LB Markus Bailey (neck), DE Khalid Kareem (illness), WR Auden Tate (shoulder) and CB Darius Phillips (illness) practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report. DE Carlos Dunlap (non-injury) and WR A.J. Green (non-injury) were not given a practice designation Friday but are also expected to play.

Footballguys view: Jackson is Cincinnati's best cover corner. His absence will help Odell Beckham, who beat him for a long touchdown in the first matchup and the refs miss a hold on another deep target when Beckham was breaking open.

Bengals | John Ross asked for trade    Tue Oct 20, 09:51 AM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross approached the team about a trade. Ross is in the last year of his rookie deal and seeking a fresh start.

Footballguys view: Things just haven't gone well for Ross in Cincinnati. He's been hurt most of his pro career having played just 26 games in four years. Ross has been sick (illness in Week 5) or a healthy scratch for all but three games in 2020. He did play in Week 6 but only got on the field for one snap. We'll see if Ross gets traded away but the Bengals likely won't get much in return.

The Cincinnati Bengals have declared LB Markus Bailey, WR John Ross, RB Trayveon Williams, DE Andrew Brown, PK Austin Seibert and DL Geno Atkins inactive for Week 3.

Bengals | John Ross to ramp things up Wednesday    Tue Aug 25, 02:05 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross is expected to take part in team drills Wednesday, Aug. 26, for the first time since he was activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list Sunday, Aug. 23.

Footballguys view: Ross is super fast and can fly down the field, plus he has a better nose for the end zone than other smaller/faster receivers. He's competing for the no.3 spot on the depth chart behind A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd.

Bengals | John Ross activated    Sun Aug 23, 02:38 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross was activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list Sunday, Aug. 23. The team also placed DT Renell Wren (quadriceps) on the Reserve/Injured list.

Footballguys view: Ross is probably next up after AJ Green, but he has had trouble staying on the field too. He's an early season waiver wire watch list player after a hot start last year.

Bengals | John Ross leaves for family matter    Wed Aug 12, 11:44 AM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross left camp Wednesday, Aug. 12, after his young son and the boy's mother tested positive for COVID-19, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Ross is putting family first as he should. We should see him back in action by the time the regular season rolls around. Ross has speed, speed and more speed to his game. He'll compete for the no.3 spot on the depth chart behind A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd.

Bengals | John Ross dangerous after the catch    Sun May 31, 07:50 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross averaged 7.3 yards after the catch in 2019 - tied for the fourth-highest average in the league among players who amassed 50 targets last season.

Footballguys view: Ross is dangerous after the catch because of his elite-level speed. He has failed to live up to his draft status, largely due to injury. We'll see if Ross can stay healthy, keep showing off the speed, and build strong chemistry with rookie QB Joe Burrow.

Bengals | No option for John Ross    Sat May 2, 05:50 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross will not have his fifth-year option exercised this offseason, according to a source.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. It's been mostly downhill for Ross ever since he set the Combine record in the 40-yard dash. Injuries and inconsistencies have plagued his game, so now he'll be set to hit free agency in 2021. When healthy, Ross is a deep threat with a nose for the big play...and the end zone. It will be interesting to see how he gels with QB Joe Burrow this season.

DT Geno Atkins (non-injury), CB Darqueze Dennard (non-injury), TE Tyler Eifert (non-injury) and WR John Ross (foot) practiced in full.

Bengals | John Ross back on injury report    Wed Dec 11, 03:17 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (foot) was limited at practice Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Footballguys view: Auden Tate is out for the Bengals and A.J. Green is unlikely to play this year. That leaves Tyler Boyd as the top receiver. Behind him, Alex Erickson and John Ross will compete for targets. Ross and his deep speed make him a big-play option and a 'what the heck' flex play for Fantasy GMs.

Bengals | John Ross will have a role    Tue Dec 3, 01:16 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross will have a role in Week 14, and he won't be on a pitch count, according to head coach Zac Taylor. 'I don't know if we'll just start and throw him out there and play him 65 plays,' Taylor said. 'He'll have a role and he'll have a spot on the offense moving forward for sure. He's got speed that people fear. We would like to get that back on the field.'

Footballguys view: Ross will have a role but Fantasy GMs need to proceed with caution his first week back. His big-play ability and deep speed are a nice asset for the Bengals offense, so consider Ross a deep 'what the heck' flex...if you want to trust him...in Week 14.

Bengals | John Ross likely to play Week 14    Mon Dec 2, 03:07 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (clavicle) is expected to come off the Reserve/Injured list this week and be active in Week 14 versus the Cleveland Browns, according to head coach Zac Taylor.

Footballguys view: It will be good to get Ross and his speed out there once again. With Andy Dalton at quarterback, Ross has flex appeal (when at full strength) due to his skill set and connection with the veteran quarterback. Monitor his practice status this week and know that's it's best just to monitor him in the first week back or start him but only as a 'what the heck' flex in Week 14.

Bengals | John Ross to IR    Wed Oct 2, 01:44 PM

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (shoulder) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Oct. 2. WR Stanley Morgan was signed from the practice squad.

Footballguys view: This is the second time in his three-year career that Ross has been on Injured Reserve. He could be 'Designated to Return' after eight weeks but the team might decide to just shut him down for the rest of the year. Ross is super fast and talented but he's never played a full 16-game season in his career. The Bengals move forward with Tyler Boyd as their No. 1 receiver and Auden Tate as their No. 2 receiver. Oh yeah, they're also waiting for A.J. Green to get healthy.

Bengals | John Ross expected to miss about a month    Tue Oct 1, 06:58 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (shoulder) is expected to miss multiple games in the range of a month or so due to injury, sources said Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Footballguys view: We hope you started Ross while you could. He's a fast and talented player but he's banged up quite often. Without Ross, the Bengals turn more to guys like Tyler Boyd and Auden Tate. Tyler Eifert should get plenty of work as well.

Bengals | John Ross has arm in sling after game    Tue Oct 1, 12:32 AM

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (shoulder) had his right arm in a sling after the Week 4 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Footballguys view: Ross has speed and legit talent but he does seem to get banged up quite often. Monitor his status during the week of practice. Tyler Boyd and Auden Tate (with TE Tyler Eifert) are the primary weapons in the passing game right now.

Bengals | John Ross erupts in loss    Sun Sep 8, 11:06 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross caught seven of his 12 targets for 158 yards and two touchdowns in a 21-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1.

Footballguys view: Ross was fantastic on Sunday. His speed and big-play ability were on full display under new head coach Zac Taylor. Ross has legit 4.2 speed but he's either been ineffective or hurt for most of his career. He scored seven touchdowns in 2018 on only 21 catches. It looks like he'll be much more involved this season, providing a great flex play with WR1 upside in certain matchups for Fantasy GMs.

Bengals | John Ross ready to play    Fri Sep 6, 05:41 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 6, and is not on the injury report for Week 1.

Footballguys view: The Bengals need Ross to stay healthy and produce, especially while A.J. Green continues to miss time with his ankle injury. Tyler Boyd is their lead wide receiver and Ross is more of a crazy 'what the heck' flex in Week 1 against Seattle.
