The Buffalo Bills cut LB Xavius Boyd, DT Landon Cohen, TE Dominique Jones, CB Kamaal McIlwain, CB Sam Miller, P Brian Moorman, QB Jordan Palmer, FB Evan Rodriguez, WR Naaman Roosevelt and OL Jared Wheeler Friday, Aug. 29.
Footballguys view: None of these should come as a surprise. Without Palmer, the team will need to add a veteran backup. They currently only have Jeff Tuel as the primary backup behind E.J. Manuel. |

Buffalo Bills FB Evan Rodriguez has worked mostly at fullback throughout training camp, but he took some reps at tight end Friday, Aug. 1, and could see time on the field during the preseason.

Buffalo Bills FB Evan Rodriguez could receive practice time at tight end because of the injuries to TEs Scott Chandler (groin), Tony Moeaki (hamstring) and Chris Gragg (cramps).
Footballguys view: Rodriguez can do both. He's big, agile and a good receiver. We can't see the switch being permanent, but Rodriguez is more like an H-back than he is a true fullback. |

Buffalo Bills FB Frank Summers and FB Evan Rodriguez split reps at the position during offseason workouts and likely will continue to split time during training camp.
Footballguys view: We'd love to see Frank "The Tank" win the fullback job in Buffalo. Rodriguez is more like a TE/H-back while Summers is your classic battering ram fullback and receiver out of the backfield. |

The Buffalo Bills have released QB Matt Flynn. The team also signed free-agent FB Evan Rodriguez (Dolphins). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. It's not a good sign when Jeff Tuel gets the start over him in Week 9 against the Chiefs. With E.J. Manuel cleared to resume practice the Bills don't need Flynn. |

The Miami Dolphins have been using tight ends as the lead blocker when lining up in the I-formation during practice. The team has also been lining up in a one-back formation with three wide receivers and a tight end. FBs Jorvorskie Lane and Evan Rodriguez have not received any snaps with the first- or second-team offense.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins are interested in signing free agent fullback Vonta Leach (Ravens) but no agreement has been reached. They may de-emphasize the position if they don't add Leach. |

The Miami Dolphins claimed TE Evan Rodriguez (Bears) off waivers Tuesday, June 11.
Footballguys view: Rodriguez is a versatile player who can line up at Fullback, H-back, or Tight End. He's essentially a similar player to Charles Clay. The 2012 fourth-round pick was bounced from the Bears roster after two offseason arrests. |

The Chicago Bears will release TE Evan Rodriguez Monday, June 10, following the 2012 fourth-round pick's second offseason arrest a few weeks ago.

The Chicago Bears have no intention of cutting FB Evan Rodriguez because of his DUI arrest Friday, May 31.
Footballguys view: Some thought Rodriguez would be on the roster bubble this year after two offseason arrests. The Bears would like to keep him around and see if he can have a better season than he did as a rookie last year. |

Chicago Bears FB Evan Rodriguez was ticketed for DUI, speeding and improper lane usage Thursday, May 31.
Footballguys view: This won't help Rodgriguez make a positive impression on the new regime. It's his second arrest of the offseason. He's no lock to make the final roster. |
