The Chicago Bears worked out free-agent RB Javon Ringer (Titans) Monday, April 7.
Footballguys view: The Bears parted ways with Michael Bush earlier this offseason. That created a spot on the depth chart behind starter Matt Forte. Ringer failed to impress during his time with the Titans, and the Bears are likely just updating their emergency list here. |

Tennessee Titans RB Javon Ringer (elbow) and OG Leroy Harris (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 28, and are listed as probable for Week 4.
Footballguys view: Ringer is getting close to 100%, so it will be interesting to see if the coaches mix him into the running game to try to get something going, since Chris Johnson has been beyond ineffective. |

Tennessee Titans RB Javon Ringer (elbow) said Wednesday, Sept. 19, after his first practice in 12 days that he is feeling better, but admitted he needs work from a conditioning standpoint. He is recovering from two surgeries for an elbow infection. 'I didn't do a whole lot as far as getting in with the offense,' Ringer said. 'I feel like I am in OK shape, but definitely nowhere near where I was before this happened.'
Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to watch Ringer's progress. The team may turn to someone else at the RB position if Chris Johnson doesn't start playing better. Ringer failed to impress last year but might be worth a roster spot in deeper leagues. |

Tennessee Titans RB Javon Ringer is looking for an opportunity to become a starting running back in the NFL. With one more year on his rookie contract, Ringer is already thinking about the options he might have to become a starter somewhere else. 'Sooner or later, I hope to get a legitimate chance to prove myself,' Ringer said. 'This is my contract year, so I'm hoping and praying for the best.'
Footballguys view: Ringer has flashed some ability as a rusher during his pro career, but last season he was a disappointment. Averaging only 3.1 YPC he managed a mere 59 carries during a year when starter Chris Johnson struggled. He's unlikely to get much opportunity this year unless Johnson gets hurt. If that happens we feel second-year RB Jamie Harper may be the Titans back to own instead of Ringer. |

Tennessee Titans RB Javon Ringer had just four carries for 11 yards in Week 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He also added one catch for 14 yards.
Footballguys view: Ringer has been outplaying Chris Johnson, but the Titans didn't give him a chance to do that today. He is still worth holding in 20+ man roster leagues. |
Javon Ringer player page

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said he has no plans to even out the carries between RBs Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer. 'There's no rhyme or reason to it right now. If there was, I'd let you know,' Munchak said. 'We're just trying to get something fixed that hasn't been as productive as we'd like, and we're not doing anything different .... We don't feel any different about Chris Johnson. All of the above. Nothing's changing. Our philosophy hasn't changed.' However, Munchak also said he will play whoever gives the team the best chance to win.
Footballguys view: Right now that player is Ringer. The way Johnson's been playing this year his new nickname should be 'CJ2YPC' and no longer 'CJ2K'. Ringer has been more effective with his carries and could be more featured than Johnson as the season goes on. |

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak is making it clear that RB Chris Johnson is still the team's starting running back despite a terrible season to this point. RB Javon Ringer will continue to see work, though.
Footballguys view: Ringer is clearly the better back, and probably even the better fantasy back, even if he gets fewer touches. He should be added in all leagues this week. |

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said the flow of the game will dictate how carries will be split between RBs Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer. 'I think every game will be different,' Munchak said. 'I just think it depends on the flow of the game, how it's going. I don't think we're consciously trying to decide by series who's playing. We know we're a work in progress as a run game. We know we're not where we want to be yet by any means.'
Footballguys view: Going forward we could see more from Javon Ringer. Simply put, Ringer has been more effective with his carries. We could see a 'hot hand' approach to splitting up the carries. |

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said RBs Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer will continue splitting carries moving forward.
Footballguys view: Ringer looks like the better RB right now, so he's probably the better fantasy play next week. There's always the chance that Johnson responds to the quasi-benching and takes his lead back job back soon. |

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said Sunday, Oct. 23, that he might give RB Javon Ringer more carries. 'I think when you lose like that you should re-evaluated everything,' Munchak said. 'But there are only so many things you can do to change it. We like Ringer, but is that the answer? I don't think so. I don't think all of a sudden we're going to block better because of that.'
Footballguys view: Ringer deserves more work, it's just a question of whether Munchak has the guts to take touches away from the team's big money back. |

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said Monday, Sept. 19, that RB Javon Ringer will have a bigger role in the offense going forward. 'We all have confidence that when he is in there, something good can still happen,' Munchak said. 'It is not, 'C.J. is not in the game, we can't run the ball'. I have always been a big Javon Ringer fan.'
Footballguys view: This is nothing to worry about for Chris Johnson owners, but it does make Jamie Harper no longer worth a roster spot. |
