New York Jets FB Tony Richardson said Thursday, Feb. 3, he is considering two options heading into 2011 -- play for the Jets, or retire, reports Jenny Vrentas, of The Star-Ledger. 'I really haven't spent too much time thinking about it, just because I know that sometimes things are a little bit out of your control,' Richardson said.

New York Jets second-year RB Shonn Greene will likely start at tailback and veteran FB Tony Richardson will start at fullback during Week 1, head coach Rex Ryan announced Friday, Sept. 10, reports Randy Lange, of NewYorkJets.com. Ryan said Greene will probably get the ball ahead of RB LaDainian Tomlinson. 'We'll probably start Shonn,' Ryan said, 'but both those guys are going to be heavily involved in every week's game plan. I'm sure they'll be in there about the same amount of time.'
| Footballguys view: Tomlinson should still have a sizable role in this offense as the complementary back behind Shonn Greene. The Jets should use Tomlinson as the primary receiver out of the backfield, and he could get double digit carries as the team tries to control the clock. |

New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis and FB Tony Richardson participated in their first practice Tuesday, Sept. 7, after missing the entire preseason, according to ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini. Revis participated in 15 to 20 defensive snaps and said he felt fine. He reported about four to five pounds overweight, but head coach Rex Ryan said he was not concerned.

Updating a previous report, the New York Jets will re-sign FB Tony Richardson Tuesday, Sept. 7, and he will be added to the 53-man roster, reports The Associated Press. Richardson will also play in the team's game Sunday, Sept. 12. Richardson was released Sunday, Sept. 5, because the Jets needed depth at cornerback with CB Darrelle Revis still unsigned. However, when they signed him later Sunday, the Jets were able to drop a cornerback and re-sign Richardson.
