NFL | Jordan Reed retires Tue Apr 20, 08:09 AM
Free-agent TE Jordan Reed (49ers) announced his retirement Tuesday, April 20.
Footballguys view: Reed was a player who had flashes of brilliance when healthy but he struggled with injuries throughout his entire career. A third-round pick out of Florida in the 2013 NFL draft, Reed spent most of his time with Washington but did play for the 49ers in 2020. |

San Francisco 49ers TE Jordan Reed (knee) and CB K'Waun Williams (knee) have been designated to return from the Reserve/Injured list. The team will have 21 days to add them to their 53-man roster.

49ers | San Francisco's Week 4 injury report Fri Oct 2, 04:48 PM
San Francisco 49ers DL Dee Ford (back), QB Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle), LB Dre Greenlaw (quad), CB Emmanuel Moseley (concussion), RB Raheem Mostert (knee) and TE Jordan Reed (knee) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. CB Ahkello Witherspoon (hamstring) did not practice Friday, Oct. 2, and has also been ruled out. CB K'Waun Williams (hip) was limited in practice for a second straight day Friday and is listed as questionable. TE George Kittle (knee) and RB Jerick McKinnon (ribs) practiced in full all week and have been removed from the injury report.
Footballguys view: Deebo Samuel will return this week. That hurts Brandon Aiyuk's outlook but helps Nick Mullens. Samuel is risky in his first game back from foot surgery, but should be a WR3/Flex once he's established and can help teams that need to replace a Steelers or Titans receiver. |

49ers | Jordan Reed going on IR Mon Sep 28, 07:28 PM
San Francisco 49ers TE Jordan Reed (knee) suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament during the Week 3 game and will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Footballguys view: Just terrible news for the veteran tight end...but unfortunately news with him that we've become used to. Reed is talented but he's one of the most oft-injured tight ends in league history. He looked good filling in for an injured George Kittle but now is hurt again. Reed will be sidelined for six to eight weeks. |

49ers | Jordan Reed participates in first practice Tue Aug 25, 06:02 PM
San Francisco 49ers TE Jordan Reed participated in his first practice with his new team Tuesday, Aug. 25. 'We wanted to ease him back in today, give him a couple routes in one-on-one, give him a couple plays in team (drills) - not too much,' head coach Kyle Shanahan said. 'When you're not out for a while, you got to go out and get your first practice in, take that monkey off your back.'
Footballguys view: Reed has always had talent but he is one of the most oft-injured players in the NFL. He's got a fresh start with the 49ers after years in Washington. We'll see if he can stay healthy, impress and win a primary backup job to George Kittle. |

49ers | Two SF players to be limited Saturday Sat Aug 15, 12:52 PM
San Francisco 49ers WR Jalen Hurd and TE Jordan Reed will be limited in practice Saturday, Aug. 15, because the team wants to ease both players back after they missed the 2019 season.
Footballguys view: That makes sense with both players. Reed has talent as a move tight end and if he stays healthy he'll compete for a spot on the depth chart behind starter George Kittle. |

49ers | Jordan Reed contract terms Fri Aug 14, 02:49 PM
Updating a previous report, San Francisco TE Jordan Reed signed a one-year, $1.05 million contract. The deal also includes up to $750,000 in playing-time incentives.
Footballguys view: Reed gives the 49ers a receiving dimension in two tight end sets, but shouldn't be seen as a threat to George Kittle's top two tight end value. If the 49ers can get even a half of a season out of him while the younger wide receivers are getting up to speed and Deebo Samuel is healing from his broken foot, it will be a good deal. |

49ers | Jordan Reed officially part of SF Sun Aug 9, 04:39 PM
Free-agent TE Jordan Reed (Football Team) officially signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, Aug. 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Don't let this change your view of George Kittle. Reed could help patch up the injuries and inexperience at slot receiver as much as he could force his way into two tight end sets and take a few targets away from Kittle. |

49ers I San Francisco lands Jordan Reed Mon Aug 3, 02:47 PM
Free-agent TE Jordan Reed (Washington) reportedly agreed to an incentive-laden, one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, Aug. 3. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Footballguys view: Reed gives the 49ers plenty of veteran experience as a reserve at the tight end position. He'll work as a backup to George Kittle and likely won't see that much playing time or that many targets. Perhaps that would keep him healthy with his new team, something he struggled with as a starter for Washington. |

49ers | Niners looking at Jordan Reed? Wed Jul 29, 09:41 PM
Free-agent TE Jordan Reed (Football Team) has drawn interest from the San Francisco 49ers.
Footballguys view: Reed is a talented player but his best days are behind him. He can't stay healthy and is only a reserve player if he does latch on with a new team in 2020. |

NFL | Jordan Reed has suitors Mon Jul 13, 02:19 PM
Free-agent TE Jordan Reed (Redskins) has three teams interested in signing him, and Reed intends to play in 2020.
Footballguys view: The Rams reportedly had interest in Reed according to Rams Wire writer Cameron DaSilva. They could be one of the three teams, and it's always possible Washington is one of them with their familiarity and need at tight end. Sean McVay coached Reed in Washington, so it's believable that he would make a play for Reed even though the Rams appear to be set at tight end. Reed has played in only 19 games in the last three seasons and it is difficult see him making a fantasy impact or lasting very long on the field if he plays this year. |

NFL | Jordan Reed still committed Fri Jun 19, 09:51 PM
Free-agent TE Jordan Reed (Redskins) reiterated that he still wants to continue his NFL career.
Footballguys view: Reed has only played in 65 of a possible 112 games during his pro career and has several (the number is seven) known concussions. If healthy, he can be a receiving weapon...but he struggles to stay healthy. Reed has been in contact with the Rams and did have a visit with the Seahawks earlier this offseason. We'll see if someone takes a chance on the oft-injured veteran when training camp gets here. |

Seahawks | Seattle meeting with Jordan Reed Thu Mar 12, 02:27 PM
Free-agent TE Jordan Reed (Redskins) is meeting with the Seattle Seahawks Thursday, March 12, according to a source.
Footballguys view: The Seahawks already added Greg Olsen this offseason but are looking for more help at the tight end position. Reed is talented as a receiver but he's hurt often and is not a player you can count on to play a full season. His price tag should be affordable but the chances he misses more time due to injury are high. |

Redskins | Jordan Reed cut Thu Feb 20, 04:51 PM
Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed was released Thursday, Feb. 20, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. Reed just got cleared from the concussion protocol and he hasn't played in over a year. He's a fine player when healthy but he's never played a full 16-game season in his pro career. If he wants to keep playing, some team might give him a one-year 'prove it' deal. |

Redskins | No future for Jordan Reed in Washington? Sat Feb 8, 09:48 PM
Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) has yet to make a final decision on playing in 2020, but he will likely be cut to save $8.5 million even if he does decide to continue his career, according to John Keim of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: Reed just can't stay healthy. We all know that he has talent and is a dangerous starting tight end, but Reed has been bitten by multiple injury bugs over the course of his career. Washington may just decide it's time to move on from the talented but oft-injured veteran. |

Redskins | Jordan Reed could return in 2020 Thu Jan 30, 09:38 PM
Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) could attempt to play in 2020, according to a source.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) on Saturday, Oct. 12, was placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a concussion. In a corresponding move, S Jeremy Reaves was activated from the practice squad.
Footballguys view: Reed has a chance to return later in the year but there may not be much of a reason to with the team in a massive rebuilding mode. With Vernon Davis (concussion) banged up and missing the game against the Dolphins in Week 6, Washington turns to Jeremy Sprinkle at the tight end position. |

Footballguys view: Robert Davis, Kelvin Harmon, and Steven Sims will get more play with McLaurin out and we shouldn't consider him a sure thing for next week's game vs. New England. Scherff and Rouiller being out means Washington only has 2 of their projected starters on the offensive line healthy for this game. |
