The Buffalo Bills announced linebackers coach Bobby April III, defensive line coach John Blake, quarterbacks coach David Lee, defensive assistant D'Anton Lynn, defensive backs coach Tim McDonald, assistant head coach Chris Palmer, assistant defensive backs coach Ed Reed, special teams assistant Eric Smith, quality control coach Kathryn Smith, assistant quarterbacks coach Jason Vrable and outside linebackers coach Jeff Weeks will not be a part of the coaching staff under new head coach Sean McDermott.
Footballguys view: The Bills are removing almost all traces of the short-lived Rex Ryan era in Buffalo. McDermott will have a chance to put his fingerprints on most of the staff as the team tries to get out of the doldrums of mediocrity. |

The New York Jets likely will not have interest in re-signing free-agent FS Ed Reed unless one of their starting safeties suffers an injury.
Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. Reed is nowhere near the player he used to be. We'd be shocked if any team signed Reed at this point of his career. |

The Pittsburgh Steelers are not expected to show an interest in free-agent FS Ed Reed (Jets), as they already have four safeties with Will Allen, Michael Mitchell, Troy Polamalu and Shamarko Thomas, and Robert Golden also could push for a spot, so there is no room for Reed right now.
Footballguys view: Reed's best days are far behind him. He bounced from the Texans to the Jets last year, and Reed looked old and slow when he was on the field. The Steelers need a youth movement on defense, not a recycled player who has seen better days. |

Free-agent S Ed Reed (Jets) said he's preparing to play in 2014 but doesn't anticipate going to a training camp.
Footballguys view: Reed is getting zero interest as a free agent. He bounced from the Texans to the Jets last year and was incredibly ineffective with both teams. Perhaps after Week 1 of the regular season (when veteran contracts are no longer guaranteed) Reed will get a sniff. |

The Baltimore Ravens will not be making a waiver claim on free agent FS Ed Reed (Texans).
Footballguys view: Many thought the Ravens would make a move for their former star after he was released by the Texans. That's not the case, and Reed will have to look elsewhere if he wants to keep playing football. |

The Houston Texans will release FS Ed Reed Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Footballguys view: Reed is no longer the player he used to be. He failed to make much of an impact with the Texans and the team is moving on without him. The Texans demoted Reed to third-string safety behind Shiloh Keo and D.J. Swearinger. His knee and hip issues were just too much to overcome. Reed should find a new home after he clears waivers. No team wants to take on the rest of his current contract. |
