Broncos | Bernard Pierce to miss a few days    Sat Jul 29, 05:36 PM

Denver Broncos RB Bernard Pierce (hamstring) will miss a few days of practice because of a hamstring injury.

Footballguys view: Pierce is competing for a spot on the 53-man roster but he's only got an outside shot of making the team. This injury doesn't help, and it opens the door for newly signed Stevan Ridley.

Broncos | Denver signs plethora of players    Mon Jan 2, 08:04 PM

Denver Broncos RB Zac Brooks, C Dillon Day, DE Iosia Iosia, OT Justin Murray, LS Jeff Overbaugh, RB Bernard Pierce, DL Travis Raciti, TE Steven Scheu, WR Hunter Sharp, LB Kevin Snyder and TE Austin Traylor were signed to Reserve/Futures contracts Monday, Jan. 2.

Footballguys view: Brooks is the most interesting player to watch. A seventh-round pick (Seahawks) out of Clemson in 2016, Brooks is a swift runner with decent ability as a receiver in the open field. He'll compete for a spot in the RB corps next year for the Broncos, but his best role is that of a change-of-pace back.

Jets | Bernard Pierce works out for NYJ    Wed Dec 28, 11:41 PM

The New York Jets worked out free-agent RB Bernard Pierce (Ravens) Wednesday, Dec. 28. The team had him in training camp, and might need him in Week 17 with both RBs Matt Forte (knee) and Bilal Powell (knee) banged up and RB Khiry Robinson (leg) on the Reserve/Injured list.

Jets | New York works out Bernard Pierce    Tue Dec 13, 08:17 PM

Former New York Jets RB Bernard Pierce worked out for the Jets Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Footballguys view: It is a sign that Matt Forte's knee may give the team reason to sign another back. Keep an eye on Forte's practice status, and go to the waiver wire to get Bilal Powell if at all possible.

Broncos | Denver works out several players    Tue Dec 6, 06:11 PM

Free-agent QBs Sean Renfree (Falcons) and T.J. Yates (Texans), free-agent RBs Bernard Pierce (Jets) and Zac Brooks (Seahawks) and free-agent WR Keshawn Martin (49ers) worked out for the Denver Broncos Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Footballguys view: The Broncos are just updating their emergency list here. Working out both quarterbacks is an interesting sign since Trevor Siemian is ailing from a foot injury. We'll know more about Siemian's availability later this week in practice as the Broncos prepare to travel to face the Titans in Week 14.

Jets | Bernard Pierce joining Jets    Wed Jul 27, 11:31 AM

Free-agent RB Bernard Pierce (Jaguars) will sign with the New York Jets Wednesday, July 27.

Footballguys view: Pierce is suspended for the first two weeks of the 2016 season, but the Jets wanted to add him as a camp body. Even if he does make the team, we don't see any fantasy value unless the guys in front of him on the depth chart get decimated by injury.

Jaguars | Bernard Pierce placed on IR    Mon Dec 7, 07:02 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Bernard Pierce (calf) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Dec. 7.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have declared WR Allen Hurns, RB Bernard Pierce, LB Chris Smith, LB Dan Skuta, C Luke Bowanko, CB Nick Marshall, WR Rashad Lawrence inactive for Week 13.

Jaguars | T.J. Yeldon to be workhorse back    Fri Sep 25, 11:47 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon had 25 carries in Week 2 and could reach that number again in Week 3 against the New England Patriots. Offensive coordinator Greg Olson has no doubt that his rookie running back can handle a heavy workload. RB Denard Robinson (knee) is out for several weeks and RB Toby Gerhart (abdomen) may not be able to play this weekend. Yeldon will likely be relied on more than he was in the first two weeks. Olson also said he expects RBs Bernard Pierce and rookie Corey Grant to see more work after combining for only five yards on four carries and two catches for nine yards so far.

Footballguys view: The only problem with Yeldon this week is the chance the Patriots jump out to a big lead and make the running game irrelevant. He does have a three down skillset and should get enough volume to merit an RB2 start anyway.

Jaguars | Bernard Pierce on outside looking in?    Wed Jun 24, 10:38 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Bernard Pierce is not projected to make the 53-man roster, according to beat writer Ryan O'Halloran. Pierce is believed to be in the running for the No. 4 job with RBs Storm Johnson and Corey Grant behind RBs T.J. Yeldon, Toby Gerhart and Denard Robinson.

Footballguys view: Pierce was released by the Ravens back in March after he was arrested for drunk driving. His court date has been moved back to late July. Off-field issues aside, Pierce just isn't that good. His plodding style as a runner isn't inspiring, and he offers nothing in the passing game. He could be out of a job when roster cuts start to happen in camp.

Jaguars | Bernard Pierce could face suspension    Fri Mar 20, 01:27 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Bernard Pierce will face a suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy with his DUI arrest this week. Pierce will be given a chance to compete for playing time with RBs Toby Gerhart, Denard Robinson and Storm Johnson in 2015. Pierce has struggled in the NFL since his rookie season in 2012, and he's mainly been hampered by a list of injuries including back, ankle, knee, shoulder, thigh, toe and head ailments.

Footballguys view: Pierce has a chance to be part of a three-man rotation, especially if the Jaguars use Gerhart more as an H-back.

Jaguars | Bernard Pierce claimed by Jags    Thu Mar 19, 04:33 PM

Free-agent RB Bernard Pierce (Ravens) was claimed off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens by the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday, March 19.

Footballguys view: Some wondered if recent off-the-field issues might lead teams to pass on Pierce, but clearly the Jaguars figured that he could be a cheap option with upside. The backfield is so-so, and if he can stay out of trouble, there is the chance he might return to his form from 2013 and before. Pierce could work in a RBBC with Denard Robinson. The Jaguars are moving Toby Gerhart to more of an H-back role.

Ravens | Fitzgerald Toussaint was backup    Tue Dec 23, 02:14 PM

Baltimore Ravens rookie RB Fitzgerald Toussaint served as the backup to RB Justin Forsett in the team's Week 17 loss to the Houston Texans over RB Bernard Pierce. Toussaint relieved Forsett in the fourth quarter when he injured his ankle and ran four times for 11 yards and also caught two passes for 20 yards on five targets. Pass protection may be the reason why Pierce was overlooked.

Ravens | Bernard Pierce practices in full    Thu Dec 18, 05:15 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Bernard Pierce (back) practiced in full Thursday, Dec. 18, after being limited Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Footballguys view: Remember when everyone thought Pierce was going to be 'the man' in this offense and Justin Forsett was an afterthought? That was adorable. Now, Forsett is a rock-solid RB2 with upside and Pierce is no more than an RB5, which means he is really not worth having in a starting slot during Championship week.

Baltimore Ravens RB Bernard Pierce was a healthy inactive in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach John Harbaugh explained Sunday, Oct. 27, that he felt others gave the team a better chance to win. 'We're just doing what we try to do as far as our personnel and getting guys up that we felt gave us the best chance to win the game,' Harbaugh said. 'We were jammed up.   Ravens | Will continue to mix RBs    Thu Oct 16, 09:45 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett has thrust himself into the lead running back role for the team. He is fourth in the NFL with 408 rushing yards and leads the league with 6.4 yards per carry. The team still wants to use RB Bernard Pierce as an important part of their running game.

Footballguys view: Forsett is still going to be the bigger part of the gameplan than Pierce is and we see him as a solid RB2 this week, while Pierce remains a streaky RB4.

Ravens | Bernard Pierce expected to play    Fri Oct 3, 03:04 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Bernard Pierce (thigh) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 3, and is probable for Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Footballguys view: Things just got a lot messier in the Baltimore backfield. Pierce will split time with Justin Forsett and rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro. Forsett is a RB2, Taliaferro is a RB3 and Pierce in his first game back is a desperation flex play in super deep leagues.

Ravens | Bernard Pierce fully participates    Thu Oct 2, 04:37 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Bernard Pierce (thigh) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 2.

Ravens | Justin Forsett earning his keep    Mon Sep 29, 10:32 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett has done everything he can to own the starting running back job, in the opinion of beat writer Jamison Hensley. 'He's making yards after the hit on his own,' head coach John Harbaugh said. 'That's kind of how you measure a back.'

Footballguys view: We love the way that Forsett runs the ball. He is not the biggest back, but he's willing between the tackles. Forsett can slice and choose where he wants to go in traffic, and he has a quick burst when there's a rushing lane. He's not going anywhere, and will remain the top option for the Ravens at running back. Rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro and Bernard Pierce will work as reserve runners.

Ravens | Bernard Pierce sits as precaution    Sun Sep 28, 09:44 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Bernard Pierce (thigh) was active in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers, but he said Sunday, Sept. 28, that he did not play as a 'precaution.'

Footballguys view: It's hard to know if this is a cover for giving Lorenzo Taliaferro another chance to impress before re-installing Pierce, or honest prudence on the Ravens part. Pierce hasn't really impressed in a while anyway, so Taliaferro is probably the back to own of the two.

Ravens | Two RBs split carries in win    Sun Sep 28, 09:36 PM

Baltimore Ravens RBs Justin Forsett and Lorenzo Taliaferro nearly split the carries in half in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers with RB Bernard Pierce (thigh) held out as a precaution. Forsett carried 14 times for 66 yards and a touchdown, while the rookie Taliaferro had 15 carries for 58 yards and a score. Forsett also added three grabs for 31 yards.

Footballguys view: Forsett got most of the early work and Taliaferro dominated touches as the game went on. Forsett is the safer weekly play, especially in PPR leagues, and Taliaferro should hold off Pierce if the coaches are being rational. Next week against the Colts brings a vulnerable defense for the Ravens offense to stay hot.

Ravens | Ravens RB situation muddled    Fri Sep 26, 08:07 PM

Baltimore Ravens RBs Bernard Pierce, Justin Forsett and Lorenzo Taliaferro have each led the team in rushing in a game this season. The Ravens are the only team to have a back with at least 90 rushing yards, giving them the eighth-ranked rushing attack despite having no one in the Top 12 among leading individual rushers. The backs each say they are uncertain who will get the ball in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers, and offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak only indicated Friday, Sept. 26, that all three will play. 'They're all going to play,' Kubiak said. 'We're going to keep a fresh guy on the field - that's what we're going to go - and if we feel like one guy has the hot hand, so to speak, then obviously he's going to go back out. I want them all to prepare as if they're starting.'

Footballguys view: None of these guys are worth starting as more than a what the heck flex until one emerges, and that may not happen.

Ravens | Bernard Pierce expected to play    Fri Sep 26, 02:57 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Bernard Pierce (thigh) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 26, and is listed as probable for Week 4.

Footballguys view: The big question is whether Pierce goes back to being a full-fledged lead back, or if Lorenzo Taliaferro's Week 3 performance forces a three-way committee, leaving no Ravens back with considerable fantasy value.

Ravens | Bernard Pierce fully participates    Thu Sep 25, 04:23 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Bernard Pierce (thigh) participated fully in practice Thursday, Sept. 25.

Footballguys view: We aren't confident about any of the three backs here - Pierce, Justin Forsett or Lorenzo Taliaferro. All of them are flex starts/RB3s at best and could eat into each other's carries.
