Giants | NYG caps regular season with a victory    Sun Jan 3, 05:54 PM

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones completed 17-of-25 passes for 229 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys. RB Wayne Gallman rushed 11 times for 65 yards, while WR Sterling Shepard had eight receptions for a game-high 112 yards with a touchdown, and he ran twice for 24 yards and a score. WR Dante Pettis added two receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown, while WR Darius Slayton closed the regular season with two catches and 22 yards on four targets. TE Evan Engram was also targeted four times, ending up with two catches and 17 yards. LB Blake Martinez ended up with 11 total stops, a sack, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit, and DE Leonard Williams had three sacks.

Footballguys view: Jones looked sharp and healthy in this one and the Giants offense did enough combined with a heroic performance by the defense. Now the Giants wait to see if Philadelphia can beat Washington and punch their ticket into the playoffs. The Giants would host the Buccaneers.

Former San Francisco 49ers WR Dante Pettis was claimed off waivers by the New York Giants Wednesday, Nov. 4, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Pettis has talent but he fell out of favor with the 49ers staff. Rumblings of poor practice habits and work ethic swirled around Pettis for the last year or so. We'll see if a fresh start works out for the young receiver.

49ers | Dante Pettis done in San Francisco    Tue Nov 3, 05:08 PM

San Francisco 49ers WR Dante Pettis was waived Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Footballguys view: Pettis was a second-round pick for the 49ers in the 2018 NFL draft and he did flash a little bit early in his career. The team has been disappointed with his preparation and practice habits, so Pettis had barely played this season. He's still got speed and is a young receiver some team out there might take a chance on when he clears waivers.

49ers | Dante Pettis primed to bounce back?    Mon Sep 7, 03:33 PM

San Francisco 49ers WR Dante Pettis received additional reps during team drills due to injuries to Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk and he has taken advantage of his opportunities, according to manager John Lynch.'A week into camp, the consistency just clicked and we could see from day one his mentality was different. He was doing the things that were asked of him. The guy that we were so excited to draft and add to our team started to show up on that field. He's got to do it when it counts, but every indication is that he's going to be a big part of what we're doing,' Lynch said.

Footballguys view: Pettis has always had the talent but he's been in the doghouse of the coaching staff for some time. With improved dedication this offseason, Pettis has been letting that natural talent really impress. We'll continue to monitor him in dynasty formats.

49ers | Dante Pettis seizing opportunity    Tue Aug 18, 05:26 PM

San Francisco 49ers WR Dante Pettis is impressing at practice by making catches in traffic over the middle as he competes for a roster spot in 2020, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.

Footballguys view: Pettis has always had the talent but he had yet to find consistency to his game and some thought he was in the coach's doghouse. This year with injuries and WRs opting out for the 49ers, Pettis is making a positive impression. Rookie Brandon Aiyuk should be the 49ers top receiver and Pettis is trying to establish himself in the pecking order somewhere behind him (and Deebo Samuel when healthy).

49ers | Dante Pettis still in the plans?    Sun Mar 8, 09:46 PM

San Francisco 49ers WR Dante Pettis has been criticized by head coach Kyle Shanahan, but Shanahan isn't 'close to giving up' on Pettis, in the opinion of Matt Barrows of The Athletic.

Footballguys view: Pettis has been a disappointment for the 49ers. He has speed and skill as a receiver but he struggles with concentration and needs to learn to get off the line of scrimmage quicker. We'll see if he can finally flash in 2020.

49ers | Pressure on Dante Pettis?    Thu Feb 13, 10:17 PM

San Francisco 49ers WR Dante Pettis needs to show a 'much greater sense of urgency' in 2020, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Footballguys view: Pettis has the natural talent but he's barely seen the field. He only played 317 snaps last year and didn't get any regular season action since Week 12. A knee injury bothered him towards the end of last season. He needs to get healthy, stay healthy and start doing more to earn reps on the field.

San Francisco 49ers DL Dee Ford (quad, hamstring) and WR Dante Pettis (knee) did not practice Friday, Nov. 29, and have been ruled out for Week 13 against the Baltimore Ravens. RB Matt Breida (ankle) and OT Joe Staley were limited Friday and are listed as questionable. PK Robbie Gould (quad) and DT Jullian Taylor (jaw) practiced in full all week and also no longer appear on the injury report.

Footballguys view: Breida could be back this week to downgrade Raheem Mostert's value, but he's not trustworthy yet, especially not against the tough Ravens defense. Staley's return would be a boon for Jimmy Garoppolo as he'll face a tough Ravens secondary and need time to break them down.
