Free-agent DE Chris McCain (Colts), who was most recently released by the Indianapolis Colts during the 2018 preseason, has opted to begin a career in MMA.
| Footballguys view: McCain was undrafted out of Cal in 2014 and had his best season with the Chargers in 2017 when he tallied 5.0 sacks. He had some legal troubles in the summer of 2018 and was put on Injured Reserve last September. |

Indianapolis Colts DE Chris McCain will be at training camp even though he is dealing with a legal issue in California, according to general manager Chris Ballard. Ballard said the team will allow the legal process to play out.
| Footballguys view: Back in June, McCain was charged with misdemeanor battery against a woman. McCain was arraigned this week on two misdemeanor battery charges. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered by court to stay minimum of 100 yards away from alleged victim. The next hearing is scheduled for August 21st. |

Head coach Frank Reich said this decision was reached in collaboration with general manager Chris Ballard and McCain himself.

DE Chris McCain (quad), PK Nick Novak (back) and C Spencer Pulley each logged a full practice Wednesday and have been removed from the injury report. TE Sean McGrath (finger) was limited in practice Wednesday, but he also no longer appears on the injury report.

McCain has been working with the first-team defense during offseason workouts since franchise free-agent LB Melvin Ingram has stayed away from the workouts.
