Buffalo Bills TEs Shawn Nelson, Jonathan Stupar, Michael Matthews, Derek Schouman and Joe Klopfenstein are competing for the team's starting tight end role, reports Tony Jones, of BuffaloBills.com. Head coach Chan Gailey appears to want more out of the position than just a dynamic pass receiver.
Footballguys view: We like second-year player Shawn Nelson over any of these other guys. Nelson is a strong player who gets up to his top speed in a hurry. He's athletic enough to attack the deep middle seams of a defense, but also shows good effort as a blocker. We'll see how this battle shakes out in training camp. |
