Free-agent WR Chris Matthews (Ravens) re-signed with the Baltimore Ravens Monday, Sept. 4, on an undisclosed deal. CB Maurice Canady (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list designated to return.
Footballguys view: The Ravens need depth at the WR position and that's why they go back to Matthews. He's a big-bodied receiver who had a big game (four catches, 104 yards, one touchdown) in Super Bowl 49 with the Seahawks but has seen his career outlook plummet after that. There's no fantasy value here as Matthews is buried on the Ravens depth chart. |

Baltimore Ravens exclusive rights free-agent WR Chris Matthews signed his tender offer Wednesday, April 19. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: He was an exclusive rights free agent, so Matthews didn't really have a choice. Matthews is a big-bodied wide receiver (6'5" 228 pounds) but he's no lock for the Ravens 53-man roster even though they are incredibly thin on talent at the position. |

Baltimore Ravens QB Josh Johnson, WR Daniel Brown, WR Jeremy Butler and RB Stephen Houston were released Saturday, Sept. 3. The team also placed WR Michael Campanaro (undisclosed) and WR Chris Matthews (undisclosed) on the Reserve/Injured list.

Baltimore Ravens OT Ronnie Stanley (undisclosed), WR Michael Campanaro (undisclosed), WR Chris Matthews (undisclosed) and WR Chris Moore (leg) are out of practice Monday, Aug. 8.
Footballguys view: Moore was building momentum as a deep threat with Mike Wallace getting in the mix and Breshad Perriman still out, but that has come to a halt with his leg injury. This Ravens offense could have a revolving door of top RB and WR options as players get healthier and younger players start to come on as the season progresses. |

Baltimore Ravens restricted free-agent WR Chris Matthews signed his exclusive-rights tender Thursday, April 7.
Footballguys view: There's room for someone to step up - both short term and long once Steve Smith retires - but Matthews hasn't built much on the success of his Super Bowl XLIX success and we're not betting heavily on him. |

Baltimore Ravens QB Bryn Renner and WR Chris Matthews were promoted from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Dec. 12.
Footballguys view: Renner should give the team depth behind likely starter Jimmy Clausen. Matthews failed to build off the big game he had in the Super Bowl last year, and he'll give the Ravens some depth at wide receiver. |

Seattle Seahawks WR Chris Matthews was released Tuesday, Nov. 17.
Footballguys view: Things change quickly around here. Matthews was a stud in the Super Bowl back in February. He had four catches for 109 yards and a touchdown against the Patriots in that game, but so far this season he only has four catches for 54 yards. |

Seattle Seahawks WR Chris Matthews (shoulder) has a slight shoulder sprain, according to head coach Pete Carroll Monday, Aug. 17. Matthews has a chance to be back in 10 days.
Footballguys view: The big man is an interesting target to watch in Seattle. Matthews exploded onto the scene during the Super Bowl, and he could carry that momentum into the regular season. In the preseason opener against the Broncos, Matthews was targeted one time and had one catch for eight yards. |

Seattle Seahawks WR Chris Matthews (arm) injured his left arm against the Denver Broncos in the preseason Friday, Aug. 14.
Footballguys view: Matthews was a Super Bowl stud, but he has had an uneven camp and the team is wanting more from him. This injury could put his roster spot in jeopardy. |

Seattle Seahawks WR Chris Matthews is seeing plenty of time with the team's top-end receiver rotation including WRs Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse. Matthews looks to be building off his big performance in the Super Bowl last year. WRs Ricardo Lockette and Tyler Lockett could be fighting for a roster spot. WR Paul Richardson (knee) is on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Footballguys view: Matthews could be a downfield/red zone specialist, but it will be hard for him to have consistent enough production to matter for redraft leagues. This does put him on DFS hail mary and best ball late-round flier lists, but probably still behind Kearse. |
