While Tennessee Titans WR Harry Douglas is expected to be the primary slot receiver in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings, head coach Mike Mularkey said Thursday, Sept. 7, that WRs Andre Johnson, Rishard Matthews and Marc Mariani might also see time in the spot in various packages.
Footballguys view: This makes it nearly impossible to start a guy like Douglas, who is inconsistent anyway. In fact, rotating guys in like this could hold them all down. We'd avoid this whole mess if at all possible. |

Free-agent WR Marc Mariani (Bears) signed an undisclosed deal with the Tennessee Titans Monday, Sept. 5. WR Tre McBride was released.
Footballguys view: Mariani was a seventh-round pick for the Titans back in 2010. He played a few seasons with the Titans before moving on. Now he's back, and Mariani will resume his role as a return man for the team. |

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (concussion) continues to miss time with a concussion, and it may end up costing him a spot on the final roster according to Hub Arkush. It could come down to two spots between Royal, Marc Mariani and rookie Daniel Braverman, who the team may not want to risk putting through waivers.
Footballguys view: Braverman has had a good summer and should be pushing ahead of Royal on the depth chart. He's a player to track in deep dynasty leagues. |

Free-agent WR Marc Mariani (Bears) is a hot property, as sources indicate at least four teams are interested in in his services.
Footballguys view: He didn't do a ton, but stepped up due to injuries and performed ably. We don't think he will be a big factor but keep an eye on where he lands. |

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (knee) did not practice all week but is questionable for Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers. However, it's unusual for a player to suit up after missing an entire week of practice. With WR Marquess Wilson (foot) also out, WRs Josh Bellamy, Marc Mariani and Cameron Meredith might be asked to contribute more.

The Chicago Bears are unlikely to use the seventh overall pick of the NFL Draft on a wide receiver, but the upcoming class of receivers gives them many options to complement WR Alshon Jeffery. They could look to University of Miami WR Phillip Dorsett, who ran a 4.33-second 40-yard dash in the second round. The Bears also hosted free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) for a visit this week. After trading WR Brandon Marshall, the current roster features WRs Josh Bellamy, Marc Mariani, Josh Morgan and Marquess Wilson. Jeffery may be moved to the No. 1 receiver role, but he averaged just four catches in the last three games with Marshall injured in 2014.
Footballguys view: Jeffery is the WR1 now, but the Bears still might add a big-name wide receiver through the draft or free agency. |

The Tennessee Titans could be interested in re-signing impending free-agent WR Marc Mariani to a one-year deal this offseason.
Footballguys view: If he does return, there's no guarantee the special teams ace would make the final roster. Mariani likely would have to compete for a roster spot during training camp. |

The Tennessee Titans have placed WR Marc Mariani (shoulder) on Injured Reserve, ending his 2013 season.
Footballguys view: We'll see Darius Reynaud once again serve as the Titans return man. Mariani is a free agent next year and will be coming off two major injuries over the last two years (compound leg fracture 2012, shoulder 2013). |

Tennessee Titans WR Marc Mariani (shoulder) will not be ready for the regular season opener Sept. 8, against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to his shoulder injury. Head coach Mike Munchak will not commit to Mariani for the 53-man roster.
Footballguys view: Mariani is a quality return man but offers little as a wide receiver. This shoulder problem will hurt his chances of making the final roster. |

The Tennessee Titans would like to carry five wide receivers, though six wouldn't be out of the question. If they keep five, WRs Kenny Britt, Justin Hunter, Nate Washington, Damian Williams and Kendall Wright are likely to be kept, although that would mean WRs Marc Mariani (leg), Michael Preston and Kevin Walter would be on the outside looking in.
Footballguys view: Walter is a veteran presence who could be valued with the inexperience of Hunter and Wright and inconsistency of Britt in mind. If Tennessee does keep six wide receivers, Jalen Parmele, currently the third running back, could be a casualty. |

Tennessee Titans WR Marc Mariani (leg) has made tremendous progress after suffering a broken leg last August, and he might be able to participate in organized team activities (OTAs) in some capacity. 'I am sure he feels limited,' head coach Mike Munchak said Tuesday, May 28, 'but he has been amazing. I know he is not feeling 100 percent yet, but he is pushing through it.'

Tennessee Titans WRs Lavelle Hawkins and Marc Mariani likely will have to compete for roster spots during training camp because of the addition of WR Kevin Walter.

Tennessee Titans WR Marc Mariani (ankle) said Saturday, June 30, that he battled a high ankle sprain for most of last season, and that injury suffered in preseason limited his effectiveness. He is fully recovered, and battling for a receiver job in camp. 'I feel kind of rejuvenated,' Mariani said. 'Instead of wearing down, I'm getting strong and feeling better. A high ankle sprain isn't an easy thing when you have no rest (during the season). It was tough, but it will never be an excuse.'

Tennessee Titans WR Marc Mariani is expected to compete for a roster spot during training camp but his improvement at wide receiver during offseason workouts in addition to his return abilities could help his chance to make the final roster. Head coach Mike Munchak said he was impressed with how Mariani performed with the offense during practices. Mariani said he is feeling healthier and stronger this offseason and believes the additional time he has spent with wide receivers coach Dave Ragone has helped his receiving skills.
Footballguys view: Mariani is a fantastic return specialist because of his speed and moves in the open field. While he could make the final roster and see some time at WR we don't see him as much of a fantasy factor in traditional leagues that don't reward points for return yards. |

Tennessee Titans WR Marc Mariani impressed during offseason practices, particularly on deep routes. Mariani may be competing with WR Michael Preston for the final receiver spot on the roster. 'He's one of those guys when the ball went up, it seems like he came down with it,' head coach Mike Munchak said. 'He found a way to get open; his routes were sharper.'
Footballguys view: Mariani has added value as he can contribute as a return man as well. He'll compete with Lavelle Hawkins and Damian Williams to be the team's 4th WR. |

The Tennessee Titans may decide against using WR Kendall Wright as a kick and punt returner because WR Marc Mariani has experience in those roles.
Footballguys view: Mariani is a good returner but we think Wright would be a good fit as well. Wright plays fast with good pad speed and quickness in the open field. He's also very elusive in the open field and can make defenders miss one on one. |

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said Tuesday, Oct. 18, that the team 'looked hard' at WR Brandon Lloyd, who was eventually traded from the Denver Broncos to the St. Louis Rams. 'We've looked at every opportunity,' Munchak said. 'We're always looking to upgrade and we lost (WR Kenny Britt). We have young guys we know can step up - (WRs Damian Williams and Marc Mariani and Lavelle Hawkins).'
Footballguys view: This isn't the biggest vote of confidence in Williams and company, and we wonder why the Titans didn't offer a fifth round pick for Lloyd based on what he could do for the passing game with Matt Hasselbeck playing at a high level. |

Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Chris Palmer said he expects WRs Damian Williams and Marc Mariani to step up their play and contribute on offense this season.
Footballguys view: Mariani is a tough player who fits well as a reserve receiver. Williams has good upside because of his ball tracking ability and deep speed. Both could be featured more than some think, especially if the team or the league suspends WR Kenny Britt for his offseason trouble. |

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said the team may use WR Marc Mariani as a slot receiver next season.
Footballguys view: Mariani is a tough, hard-nosed player who has surprising later agility. We think he could be a decent slot receiver because he is fearless when running routes over the middle of the field. |
