Former Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette (neck) will announce his retirement Thursday, May 12, according to a source. Lockette suffered a season-ending neck injury last season.
Footballguys view: Lockette is being smart. We wish him well in his future endeavours. |

Free-agent WR Ricardo Lockette (neck) said Wednesday, April 20, that he is taking his recovery 'day by day' after a scary season-ending neck injury in November. He is no longer wearing a neck brace, and said he intends to play again.
Footballguys view: We wish him luck in his continued recovery and hope he is careful about getting onto the field again this season. |

Seattle Seahawks WR Paul Richardson (knee) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, Nov. 14. WR Ricardo Lockette (neck) was placed on Reserve/Injured. 'We're going to jump (Richardson) right back in,' head coach Pete Carroll said. 'Really, we're going to put him right back into it. He's had enough time now, he's been out on the practice field, he looks great, so we're just going to fit him in. How do I see it? We're going to fit him in.'
Footballguys view: Richardson had an A.J. Green-like skill set during his time in college at Colorado. However, he also had more than one knee injury that forced him to miss a lot of time with the Buffs. Now, Richardson is coming back from yet another knee injury he suffered last year as a rookie. If he can ever regain his talent, speed and ability to play above the rim, Richardson is an interesting player to watch in dynasty leagues. |

DE David King (groin) was limited during practice and is listed as doubtful, while TE Luke Willson (toe), OT Russell Okung (toe, ankle) and DE Michael Bennett (non-injury) fully participated in practice and are listed as probable.

Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette (neck) has 'full motion and feeling in all extremities' and is undergoing surgery Monday, Nov. 2, but his playing career is in jeopardy.
Footballguys view: This injury was incredibly severe. We're glad Lockette has all his motor skills, and now he faces a long road to recovery. |

Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette (neck) is not expected to make it make this season. Head coach Pete Carroll said 'there's no way' that Lockette returns in 2015.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. Lockette suffered a scary injury against the Cowboys, and we're glad to hear that he should be okay. |

Seattle Seahawks CB Marcus Burley (hand) and CB Tharold Simon (toe) have been ruled out for Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals. DE Demarcus Dobbs (shoulder, LB Kevin Pierre-Louis (hamstring) and CB Tye Smith (hip) are doubtful, while WR Ricardo Lockette (illness), DT Brandon Mebane (groin) and S Steven Terrell (hip) are probable. Dobbs, Smith, Simon, Burley and Pierre-Louis didn't practice Friday, Oct. 9. Mebane, Lockette and Terrell were full participants.

Seattle Seahawks WR Chris Matthews is seeing plenty of time with the team's top-end receiver rotation including WRs Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse. Matthews looks to be building off his big performance in the Super Bowl last year. WRs Ricardo Lockette and Tyler Lockett could be fighting for a roster spot. WR Paul Richardson (knee) is on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Footballguys view: Matthews could be a downfield/red zone specialist, but it will be hard for him to have consistent enough production to matter for redraft leagues. This does put him on DFS hail mary and best ball late-round flier lists, but probably still behind Kearse. |

Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette signed his exclusive-rights tender Tuesday, April 14.
Footballguys view: Lockette is merely a reserve receiver with little fantasy upside. He'll contribute as a return man as well, but he's only worth rostering in ultra-deep dynasty leagues. |

Seattle Seahawks WRs Phil Bates, Ricardo Lockette and Bryan Walters appear to be finalists for the last one or two receiving positions on the 53-man roster. WR Kevin Norwood (foot) has been out since early in camp due to a foot injury which will sideline him indefinitely. That might mean two spots are up for grabs.
Footballguys view: We like Lockette the best here. He's a speedy receiver who can work well as a return man for the Seahawks. |

Updating previous reports, Miami Police spokesperson Rene Pimental said there is no evidence of a crime or sexual assault involved in the incident involving San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and WR Quinton Patton and Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette. Pimental said the woman involved asked for an incident report. None of the players have been questioned, arrested or charged with any crimes.

Updating a previous report, an unnamed woman said she had an encounter with San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick, WR Quinton Patton and Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette April 1 at a Miami hotel. The woman told police she drank and smoked marijuana with the players and wound up in Kaepernick's room. She told police that she and Kaepernick both removed their closes but didn't have sex. Kaepernick later left the room and the woman said she couldn't remember anything after that. Kaepernick is being investigated for alleged sexual assault, but the investigation is in the 'beginning stages.'
Footballguys view: The marijuana part is something that shouldn't be overlooked as it can land any of the players in the NFL's drug program if they aren't in it already. There's nothing about this that is good. Even if there was no rape, even if there is a logical explanation, this was an enormously dumb position for all three - but especially Kaepernick - to put themselves in. |

Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette is part of an investigation by the Miami police involving an alleged sexual assault.
Footballguys view: Along with Quinton Patton and Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers, Lockette was at a gathering where the alleged incident occurred. Regardless of the outcome of the investigation, reports that marijuana was being used could get the league investigating on it's own. |

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said WR Jermaine Kearse (ankle) will be a game-time decision for Week 17. WR Ricardo Lockette likely would be the third receiver in three-receiver sets if Kearse misses the game.

The Seattle Seahawks placed WR Sidney Rice (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday, Oct. 30. In a corresponding move, the team promoted WR Ricardo Lockette from the practice squad to the active roster.
Footballguys view: Lockette is a fast wide receiver who can get downfield in the blink of an eye. He'll have little fantasy value as a depth receiver for the Seahawks. |

The Seattle Seahawks placed FB Spencer Ware (ankle) on the season-ending Injured Reserve Tuesday, Oct. 22, and re-signed FB Michael Robinson to the active roster in a corresponding move. Also, WR Josh Lenz was released from the practice squad and free-agent WR Ricardo Lockette (Bears) and undrafted free-agent OG Zach Allen were signed to the practice squad.

The Chicago Bears signed free-agent QB Jerrod Johnson (Seahawks), WR Ricardo Lockette (49ers) and re-signed LB Jerry Franklin, CB Demontre Hurst, TE Fendi Onobun, FB Harvey Unga and DE Aston Whiteside to the practice squad.
Footballguys view: Lockette is an interesting speedster to monitor in super deep dynasty leagues. He can get on top of the defense in a hurry and track the ball over his shoulder. |

The San Francisco 49ers have signed free-agent QB Seneca Wallace (Saints). Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also waived WR Ricardo Lockette.
Footballguys view: Wallace was out of football in 2012 and failed to impress during his time with the Saints in training camp. The 49ers have not been happy with the backup QB competition. Wallace will compete with rookie B.J. Daniels (USF), Colt McCoy, and Scott Tolzien to be the primary backup behind Colin Kaepernick. |

San Francisco 49ers WR Ricardo Lockette (hip) left practice Sunday, July 28, due to a right hip injury, although he was able to return.

San Francisco 49ers WR Mario Manningham (knee) is roughly a month away from returning to action on the field, and the competition behind WR Anquan Boldin will be furious. WRs Kyle Williams, Ricardo Lockette, A.J. Jenkins, Quinton Patton and Marlon Moore will be looking to step up in the absence of WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles').
Footballguys view: The 49ers could choose to platoon wide receivers in this role, with Lockette being the fastest, Patton the best after the catch, Williams the most experienced, and Jenkins the biggest investment. Even if one receiver rules the role, they will likely be the third option at best in a run-heavy offense, and that's only until Manningham is ready to resume his role. |

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh was upbeat about WRs A.J. Jenkins, Quinton Patton and Ricardo Lockette, who will line up at split end to compete for WR Michael Crabtree's (Achilles') starting job while he is out injured. 'I feel like they're making a lot of progress,' Harbaugh said. 'I feel good about where that stands right now. Continued competition will continue to be good for our team and those youngsters.'
Footballguys view: The 49ers could use a form of WRBC if no single player emerges from this group. Jenkins was a first-round pick in 2012 but failed to record a catch during his rookie season. Patton was the team's fourth-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft. He's got the size and quickness to beat the jam at the line of scrimmage. Patton is incredibly raw as a route runner and needs to improve that area of his game. Lockette is a downfield receiver who can eat up cushions and get on top of the defense in a hurry. |

San Francisco 49ers WR Quinton Patton has as good a shot as any of his competition, which is believed to include WRs A.J. Jenkins and Ricardo Lockette, for the No. 2 wide receiver job behind WR Anquan Boldin. Patton has good athletic ability, size and speed, as well as energy and eagerness.
Footballguys view: Patton is a strong runner after the catch, and he plays over his middling measureables. He is a competitor and he should keep pressure on Jenkins all summer. |

San Francisco 49ers WR Ricardo Lockette lives with QB Colin Kaepernick, and the two are reportedly good friends. It still remains to be seen if their chemistry off the field will mean results on the field. Lockette is a speedy player who is in the mix for a starting job opposite WR Anquan Boldin.
Footballguys view: The team could easily have a committee approach at WR2, with Lockette providing deep speed on play action passes and in the two-minute drill offense. |
Ricardo Lockette player page

San Francisco 49ers WR A.J. Jenkins appears to have a slight edge over WRs Quinton Patton and Ricardo Lockette for one of the starting wide receiver jobs entering training camp.
Footballguys view: The winner won't be worth targeting except in very deep leagues because Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis will be the top dogs in this limited passing game. Dynasty leaguers who have held onto AJ Jenkins should be pleased that he's ahead, but it doesn't seem that promising that he could only open a slight edge on a fourth-round pick who reportedly showed up with a lot of work to do at rookie minicamp. |

San Francisco 49ers WR Kyle Williams is the pre-training-camp favorite for the 'X' wide receiver spot, ahead of A.J. Jenkins, who holds the slot advantage, and others.
Footballguys view: The 'X' receiver is the split end who lines up on the line of scrimmage furthest away from the tight end. On the line Williams can be jammed by the cornerback at the snap. He'll have to prove he can consistently beat the jam with quickness and speed to get into his route. We'll see Anquan Boldin as the 'Z' receiver (flanker) lined up a yard or two off the line on the opposite side of the field. |

San Francisco 49ers WRs Chad Hall and A.J. Jenkins worked with WR Anquan Boldin during the two-minute drill at organized team activities (OTAs) Tuesday, May 28. So far, however, WRs Ricardo Lockette, Marlon Moore and Quinton Patton have also rotated with Hall and Jenkins during drills, and no one receiver appears to be getting the lion's share of reps opposite Boldin, as the jobs behind the veteran are viewed as wide open.
Footballguys view: We'll see if the added muscle Jenkins put on this offseason will help him stand up to press coverage better. Jenkins was the team's first-round pick in 2012 but failed to record a catch as a rookie. |

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said WRs A.J. Jenkins, Quinton Patton and Ricardo Lockette will compete for the vacant starting wide receiver job during offseason workouts.
Footballguys view: Jenkins has added about 10 pounds of muscle this offseason to help him beat the jam. He was humbled last year with zero receptions after being the team's 2012 first-round pick. Patton was hyper productive in college but has looked rough in minicamp. Lockette may be the sleeper here. He's Colin Kaepernick's roommate and is faster than the other two players. Fantasy owners need to watch this battle unfold in training camp. |

San Francisco 49ers WR Ricardo Lockette, who is roommates with QB Colin Kaepernick, could be an intriguing candidate to step up with WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles') injured. Lockette is 6-foot-2, 211 pounds and constantly is being tutored by Kaepernick since they live together. 'He's one of the fastest guys on the team, and I've been trying to keep up with him,' Kaepernick said of Lockette. Kaepernick has helped Lockette understand and simplify the team's playbook, and he impressed offensive coordinator Greg Roman last year while making impressive catches on the scout team. Lockette, a former track star, considers himself more of an outside receiver that can take advantage of his size and speed. 'I'm sure there's things I can specifically name, but there's just something about him that I'm really fired up about,' coach Jim Harbaugh said. 'He's got something else to him, too, besides just the analytical size, strength, speed.'
Footballguys view: Lockette has incredible downfield speed and can easily track the ball on deep passes. He'll get more of a chance to showcase his ability now that Michael Crabtree (Achilles') is out for the foreseeable future. Lockette is an intriguing prospect for owners in deep dynasty leagues. |

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has high hopes for WR Ricardo Lockette this season.
Footballguys view: The team should have high hopes for Lockette. He's incredibly fast, can change direction without losing much speed, and is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. Lockette has an opportunity for a bigger role after the injury to Michael Crabtree (Achilles'). |
