Chiefs | Travis Kelce agrees to extension    Thu Aug 13, 03:17 PM

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension with the Chiefs Thursday, Aug. 13, worth between $14 million to $15 million per season.

Footballguys view: The tight end market is completely reshaped in one day with the big-money deal for George Kittle and this extension for Kelce. While he's not making as much per season as Kittle, this is a big raise for Kelce who was set to make $8 million this year. Kelce will once again be a must-start every week for Fantasy GMs at tight end.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce caught 71 passes that resulted in either a first down or a touchdown during the 2019 season, which ranked first among tight ends.

Footballguys view: Kelce is still the clear #1 tight end and will cost you a second round pick if you want him. George Kittle was closing in before getting hurt last year and should go soon after Kelce in fantasy drafts.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce no stranger to big plays    Tue Jun 9, 09:02 PM

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has gained at least 15 yards on 100 plays since 2017 - 31 more than any other tight end over that span - according to Pro Football Focus.

Footballguys view: The Chiefs know how to use Kelce at his best. These numbers and big plays will continue as the team brought back 10-of-11 starters from the offense that won the Super Bowl.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce always a friendly target    Mon Jun 1, 09:52 PM

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has caught no fewer than 83.5 percent of his catchable targets over the last five seasons, and quarterbacks have recorded a passer rating no worse than 105.8 over that stretch. In 2019, he hauled in 84.3 percent of his 115 catchable targets and his quarterbacks recorded a 112.2 passer rating when targeting him.

Footballguys view: Kelce is a dominant force and that's going to continue in 2020. He is consistent and can take over a game. Kelce is difficult to match up with because he's too fast for linebackers and too big for safeties to cover.

49ers | George Kittle a nightmare in the open field    Sun May 31, 06:48 PM

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle has compiled two of the three best seasons for a tight end in terms of producing yards after the catch since at least 2015 over the last two years. His 871 receiving yards after the catch in 2018 are the most by any player over the last five seasons (and 208 more yards than second-place Travis Kelce compiled in 2016), while his 623 receiving yards after the catch in 2019 led all tight ends and trailed only Chris Godwin (629) among all players last season.

Footballguys view: Kittle is just a nightmare...no matter where the offense is at. He's arguably the best tight end in the game and is a TE1, must-start for Fantasy GMs every week.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce best outside?    Thu May 21, 08:07 PM

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce led the NFL with 2.8 yards per route when lined up outside in 2019, according to Pro Football Focus.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce a monster in the red zone    Thu May 7, 11:46 PM

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has caught 17 touchdowns in the red zone since the start of the 2017 season - the second-highest total by a tight end over that span.

Footballguys view: And yet he only had five scores last year. He's a positive touchdown regression candidate and clear TE1. Don't hesitate to spend a second round pick on him.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce in rare company    Thu Mar 26, 10:47 PM

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce recorded 1,229 receiving yards in 2019, becoming only the fifth tight end in NFL history to top 1,000 yards four times in his career. However, he is the only one ever to do so in four consecutive seasons.

Footballguys view: Kelce is in rare company because he's a rare tight end. The Chiefs are set to keep making Super Bowl runs for years to come and Kelce will be a big part of what they do on offense because he is so difficult to stop.

Chiefs | Kansas City wins Super Bowl LIV    Sun Feb 2, 10:16 PM

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 26 of his 42 passes for 286 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, and he rushed nine times for 29 yards and a touchdown in a 31-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV Sunday, Feb. 2. RB Damien Williams rushed 17 times for 104 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 29 yards and a score. WR Tyreek Hill caught nine of his 16 targets for 105 yards, WR Sammy Watkins hauled in five passes for 98 yards, and TE Travis Kelce caught all six of his targets for 43 yards and a touchdown. SS Bashaud Breeland finished with a team-high seven tackles, including two tackles for loss, and a pass defensed.

Footballguys view: Mahomes was cold for three and a half quarters, but a third and long conversion against a tired 49ers pass rush seemed to light the fuse. Williams had a strong finish to the game with a clinching score, and Watkins redeemed himself after a quiet season except for a huge Week 1. Kelce was also important when the offense needed a conversion. The Chiefs completed a thrilling postseason that saw them come back from double digit deficits in every game.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce excels as deep threat    Thu Jan 30, 02:50 PM

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce this regular season paced all tight ends with 274 yards on receptions 20-plus yards downfield.

Footballguys view: Kelce is going to be a huge threat for the 49ers on Super Bowl Sunday. The Chiefs will use 'sail' concepts with Kelce running corner routes to beat the 49ers Cover 3 zone defense with middle field closed. He should have a big game in the Chiefs biggest contest.

Chiefs | Kansas City advances to AFC Championship Game    Sun Jan 12, 06:36 PM

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 23-of-35 passes for 321 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's AFC Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans. He also led the team with 53 rushing yards on seven attempts. RB Damien Williams ran 12 times for 47 yards with two touchdowns, while adding two grabs for 21 yards and a third score. TE Travis Kelce had a monster game with 10 grabs, 134 yards and three touchdowns. WR Sammy Watkins had two grabs for 76 yards and he added 14 rushing yards. WR Tyreek Hill ran three times for 41 yards with a four-yard run and one lost fumble. WR Mecole Hardman was good for two receptions and 19 yards, while WR Demarcus Robinson ended his day with one catch for four yards on four targets.

Footballguys view: Mahomes was a cool customer and the Chiefs got even more special teams and defense breaks than the Texans by the time the game was over. The Chiefs offense is clicking at the right time although the Titans beat them earlier this year. Kelce had a record-breaking performance as the first player to catch three touchdowns in a quarter in the postseason.
