Footballguys view: Stefon Diggs matchup gets easier with Hayward out and the Chargers pass rush will rely mostly on Joey Bosa with Ingram sidelined. Josh Allen should have less resistance against this undermanned Chargers defense. |

Jones has also had a good start to the season and his loss will hurt the defensive line. Vigil being out will get Kyzir White on the field a lot for the second straight week. |

Los Angeles Chargers LB Melvin Ingram (hamstring) is expected to miss a few weeks because of the hamstring injury he suffered during the Week 4 game.

Los Angeles Chargers LB Melvin Ingram (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury during the Week 4 game and is considered questionable to return.
Footballguys view: The Chargers tried to rest anyone that wasn't 100% but still didn't escape this one without an injury to a key player. |
Melvin Ingram III player page

Los Angeles Chargers LB Melvin Ingram recorded seven solo stops, two sacks, two tackles for loss and two quarterback hits in the AFC Wild Card playoff game win against the Baltimore Ravens.

Los Angeles Chargers LB Melvin Ingram said he has been lobbying to see some snaps at tight end.
Footballguys view: Ingram is moving to DE this year in Gus Bradley's new defense. He's got enough on his plate just getting after quarterbacks and being a defensive superstar for the Chargers. Ingram has supreme confidence and is one helluva athlete...and the Chargers could use TE help after losing Hunter Henry (knee) for the season. Starting TE Virgil Green has been inconsistent and generally unimpressive for most of his career, and reports out of Chargers camp indicate he's doing nothing to change that perception. It's fun to think of Ingram on offense (and the accompanying MUT card on Madden), but at the end of the day this doesn't seem too likely to happen. |

Los Angeles Chargers LB Melvin Ingram (7.5) and DE Joey Bosa (5.5) are the NFL's top pass rushing duo with a league-high 13 sacks between them and are the only pair of teammates ranked in the top 10 in the league.
Footballguys view: The Chargers defense has had to work through some injuries at the other levels of the defense (linebacker, secondary) but so long as they've got this duo rushing the passer they've got a shot each week. It's fun to watch Ingram and Bosa on a weekly basis, but it's a nightmare for opposing offensive coordinators to scheme around. |

Los Angeles Chargers LB Melvin Ingram is second in the league with 5.5 sacks through three games.
Footballguys view: Ingram is a relentless pass rusher who opponents have to game plan against. He was able to get Chiefs QB Alex Smith sacked three times on Sunday, and Ingram will continue to be one of the most disruptive players in the NFL. "It's good to see a guy go out and work hard every day, and then you see those results on the football field. Because that's the way he practiced." Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said. |

Los Angeles Chargers LB Melvin Ingram signed a new four-year contract Sunday, June 11, worth $66 million, according to a source. The deal includes $42 million in guaranteed money.
Footballguys view: The two sides had up to July 15th to make a new deal happen, and they got this done a month before the deadline for franchise-tagged players. Ingram is going to continue to combine with Joey Bosa to provide the Chargers with great rushers on the edge. He'll move from outside linebacker to "Leo" rusher in Gus Bradley's new 4-3 defense in 2017. |

Los Angeles Chargers LB Melvin Ingram could skip the remaining organized team activities and the upcoming minicamp because he still has not signed his franchise tender, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Like all franchise-tagged players, there is a July 15th deadline to get a long-term deal done. Ingram could also skip the start of training camp if he does not receive a long-term deal. |

Los Angeles Chargers LB Melvin Ingram was given the franchise tag, but general manager Tom Telesco said signing Ingram to a long-term deal remains the goal. 'If we don't have Melvin Ingram, we have a pretty big hole,' Telesco said. 'We like what we've seen from Melvin. I think he still has room to get better, too.'

Los Angeles Chargers LB Melvin Ingram received the franchise tag Monday, Feb. 27.
Footballguys view: It's a non-exclusive tag, so other teams can negotiate with Ingram. He's got 18.5 sacks over the last two years and he's a key piece of what could be a dangerous Chargers defense in 2017. |
Melvin Ingram III player page

San Diego Chargers impending free-agent LB Melvin Ingram is expected to receive the franchise tag before the franchise tag deadline Wednesday, March 1.
Footballguys view: With 18.5 sacks over the last two years, Ingram had to be locked down by the Chargers. He's still yet to play his best football, and the Chargers are wise to tag this up-and-coming pass rusher. |
