Buccaneers | O.J. Howard put on IR    Tue Oct 6, 05:45 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (Achilles) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Footballguys view: Now the move is official. It's bad news for the young tight end who will be entering a contract year in 2021. We've seen him flash during his pro career but never quite put it all together. We'll see if Howard can finally do that next year. The Buccaneers move forward with Rob Gronkowski and Cameron Brate at the position.

Buccaneers | O.J. Howard not on field    Mon Oct 5, 06:22 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (Achilles) did not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 5.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Howard is likely done for the season after suffering an Achilles injury. We should see him shut down officially in the near future.

Buccaneers | O.J. Howard may miss rest of season    Sun Oct 4, 07:02 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (Achilles) suffered an Achilles tendon injury during the Week 4 game, and head coach Bruce Arians said the team is concerned that Howard may miss the rest of the season.

Footballguys view: Rob Gronkowski and Cameron Brate would potentially get more targets if Howard is out long term, but this offense doesn't look like it will support a fantasy relevant tight end.

Buccaneers | Bucs to use two TEs in base offense    Thu Jun 4, 08:48 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TEs Rob Gronkowski, O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate will all spend plenty of time on the field in 2020, according to head coach Bruce Arians. 'That's our base offense,' Arians said when asked about the Buccaneers using 12 personnel with one running back and two tight ends, according to Greg Auman of The Athletic.

Footballguys view: This makes a lot of sense, as the Bucs have maybe the best tight end room in the league. 2020 Bucs game scripts should be lower scoring than the wild and wooly ride with Jameis Winston last year. That could lower passing numbers for this offense, but create more wins. This change would also push Chris Godwin to outside receiver more often, but he was winning inside and outside with equal aplomb.

Buccaneers | Tom Brady throws with teammates at prep school    Tue May 19, 12:03 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady conducted an on-field throwing session Tuesday, May 19, with several teammates at a local-area prep school. The session lasted about two hours, and Brady was seen walking through routes, including demonstrations of precise foot placement for making breaks. Brady was joined by WR Mike Evans, TE O.J. Howard, TE Cameron Brate, QB Blaine Gabbert, C Ryan Jensen, QB Ryan W. Griffin, WR Scott Miller and RB Dare Ogunbowale.

Footballguys view: It's going to be different to see Brady playing for a new team in 2020. The weapons are there for him to be quite productive this season. Fantasy GMs are taking him off the board at QB11 (8.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Buccaneers | O.J. Howard's option picked up by Bucs    Wed Apr 29, 04:02 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers picked up the fifth-year option on TE O.J. Howard, which should pay him $6 million in 2021.

Footballguys view: The option is guaranteed only for injury. There was buzz about the team trading Howard away but that never came to fruition. Instead, they keep him and pick up his option for 2021. We'll see Howard mixed in with Rob Gronkowski and Cameron Brate in the Bucs TEBC.

Buccaneers | O.J. Howard won't be fleeced away    Wed Apr 22, 08:59 AM

Updating previous reports, Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard won't be traded unless the team is blown away with an offer. The Buccaneers say they're comfortable lining him up in sets with two tight ends.

Footballguys view: Howard has underachieved in his first three years under two different coaches, but this is a weak draft for tight ends and the Ravens got a second for Hayden Hurst, so perhaps the Bucs could get a second-day pick for Howard, or send him to Washington in a trade for Trent Williams. Cameron Brate could also be dealt during the draft to help clear the depth chart for Rob Gronkowski.

Buccaneers | O.J. Howard not close to being traded    Tue Apr 21, 04:47 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard is not subject to a pending trade following the Bucs' acquisition of TE Rob Gronkowski Tuesday, April 21.

Footballguys view: The Bucs now have Gronkowski, Howard and Cameron Brate in the tight end room. That's a jam-packed group for now, but we imagine Howard will get dealt. There were rumblings about him already getting traded before Tampa added Gronkowski.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard is a possibility to be traded within the next week, according to comments made on The GM Shuffle podcast by former NFL executive Michael Lombardi on Wednesday, April 15.

Footballguys view: We'll see if that happens. Howard would be a huge benefactor from the acquisition of QB Tom Brady. The Bucs to have Cameron Brate at the position if they do move on from the former first-round pick.

Buccaneers | O.J. Howard ready to rebound?    Sun Mar 29, 09:46 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard's 'eyes should light up' at the opportunity to play with QB Tom Brady, according to head coach Bruce Arians. 'You have a quarterback who throws to the tight end, go earn it and get balls thrown to you,' Arians said.

Footballguys view: Arians doesn't feature tight ends in his offense. However, with Tom Brady at quarterback we could see a significant bunch of targets for Howard.

Buccaneers | Bucs still excited about O.J. Howard    Tue Feb 25, 04:11 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard has the coaching staff 'more than excited' about what he can do in his second year under head coach Bruce Arians, according to general manager Jason Licht Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Footballguys view: Tight ends don't do much under Arians, and that's the case with Howard. He's super talented but also on a team with a quarterback question as we don't know who their starter is going to be. Also, Cameron Brate takes away time and targets at the tight end position from Howard as they share snaps.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (hamstring) should be back in action in Week 10, according to head coach Bruce Arians Monday, Nov. 4.

Footballguys view: Both Cameron Brate and Antony Auclair are banged up right now and may miss Week 10. If Howard can start against the Cardinals on Sunday he would be a TE2 for Fantasy GMs based on his potential and the fact that Arizona's defense gives it up to the tight end position.
