Arizona Cardinals LB Devon Kennard (calf) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 5 versus the New York Jets. DL Jordan Phillips (illness) did not practice for a second straight day Friday, Oct. 9, while S Chris Banjo (hamstring) was limited for a second straight day; both players are listed as questionable. Footballguys view: Baker's return will help the Cardinals secondary, not that they will need a ton of help against the Jets passing game led by Joe Flacco.

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins (ankle) is pushing to play in Week 4's game against the Carolina Panthers, according to a source. He is expected to test his ankle injury during pregame warmups before a final decision is made on his status.

Footballguys view: As long as Hopkins is active, he's in fantasy lineups. Larry Fitzgerald would get a bump as a possession receiver if Hopkins is a surprise inactive.

Cardinals | Week 4 injury report for Arizona    Fri Oct 2, 04:40 PM

Arizona Cardinals S Budda Baker (thumb) and S Chris Banjo (hamstring) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 4 versus the Carolina Panthers. WR DeAndre Hopkins (ankle) and LB Devon Kennard (calf) also did not practice all week but are listed as questionable. CB Dre Kirkpatrick (head) did not practice Friday, Oct. 2, and is also listed as questionable. OL Mason Cole (hamstring), LB Dennis Gardeck (foot) and WR Christian Kirk (groin) were limited in practice all week and are listed as questionable. LB Tanner Vallejo (illness) returned to a full practice Friday and is also listed as questionable. WR Larry Fitzgerald (non-injury), DT Corey Peters (non-injury) and DE Zach Allen practiced in full for a second straight day Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Footballguys view: Isaiah Simmons should get a lot of run as a safety this week with the two starters at the position out. Kirk could return, but expect Andy Isabella to play a bigger role than him and potentially be fantasy relevant this week if Hopkins is out.

Cardinals | DeAndre Hopkins not seen Friday    Fri Oct 2, 02:26 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins (ankle) was not spotted Friday, Oct. 2, during the open portion of the team's practice.

Footballguys view: Hopkins is going to be a game-time decision and it sounds like a pain tolerance issue that will put the ball in Hopkins court to decide his status. At least he is playing in an early game. Andy Isabella and Larry Fitzgerald could get more targets if Hopkins is out, but it would downgrade Kyler Murray's value this week.

Cardinals | DeAndre Hopkins remains out    Thu Oct 1, 12:18 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins (ankle) missed a second consecutive day of practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

Footballguys view: Two days in a row puts his availability for Week 4 in question. Fantasy GMs need to have other plans at the ready. We'll see if Hopkins can practice on Friday. If he doesn't play, the Cardinals would turn to more Larry Fitzgerald and Andy Isabella. We could also see Christian Kirk return from his groin injury this week.

Cardinals | DeAndre Hopkins agrees to big deal    Tue Sep 8, 12:51 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins agreed to a two-year extension worth $54.5 million in new money, which will make him the highest-paid non-quarterback ever. He receives $42.75 million at signing.

Footballguys view: There are no-trade and no-franchise tag clauses in place as well. Hopkins had three years left on his deal but the Cardinals wanted to make the move to lock him up even longer and get his price tag with the current market. He's a superstar receiver who can further transform the Cardinals potentially high-powered passing attack.

Cardinals | DeAndre Hopkins expected back soon    Mon Aug 17, 08:51 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) is improving and should return to practice in the near future, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

Footballguys view: Hopkins is a seasoned veteran, so he doesn't need a ton of reps in training camp to get ready. However, he is learning a new offense and working with a new quarterback so getting back out there ASAP is important. The Cardinals will be cautious with their superstar receiver.

Cardinals | Three 1,000-yard WRs for Cards?    Thu Aug 13, 02:33 PM

Arizona Cardinals WRs DeAndre Hopkins, Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald all have the chance to post 1,000-yard seasons in 2020, according to QB Kyler Murray.

Footballguys view: That wouldn't be a surprise. We've seen that feat before in the NFL, most notably the Colts with QB Peyton Manning and his three 1,000-yard receivers WR Marvin Harrison, WR Reggie Wayne and WR Brandon Stokley. The firepower the Cardinals have at wide receiver is great news for QB Kyler Murray who could end up being the no.1 fantasy quarterback in 2020.

Cardinals | Kyler Murray works out with teammates    Mon Jun 29, 05:06 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray worked out with a number of his teammates Monday, June 29. WR DeAndre Hopkins, WR Christian Kirk, RB Kenyan Drake, RB Chase Edmonds and TE Maxx Williams are among the players participating in the workout.

Footballguys view: Just like a grip of other quarterbacks around the league, Murray is taking it upon himself to lead workouts. This virtual offseason is going to have an impact on teams, but these workouts can help further build or establish chemistry between a quarterback and his weapons. Murray is a QB1 for Fantasy GMs in 2020 and it wouldn't surprise us to see him finish as a top-5 fantasy quarterback.

Cardinals | DeAndre Hopkins in rare company    Sat Jun 20, 09:37 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins is one of three receivers in NFL history to record over 600 receptions, 8,500 receiving yards and 50 receiving touchdowns in his first seven seasons.

Footballguys view: Hopkins did it with some rough quarterback play early in his career. He might see a significant drop in targets this year, but increased efficiency should make up some of the slack if the Kingsbury offense and Kyler Murray get better in their second year.

Cardinals | DeAndre Hopkins wins at the catch point    Thu Jun 11, 09:33 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins has recorded 56 contested catches since the start of the 2015 season - the fourth-highest total by any receiver over that span - according to Pro Football Focus.

Footballguys view: Hopkins has a fantastic ability to make plays on the ball. Scouts call that 'my ball' mentality, and Hopkins also plays with great body control which allows him to make crazy catches seem routine. We're excited about how the Cardinals offense will implement their new superstar this year.

Cardinals | DeAndre Hopkins expects numbers to go up    Thu May 28, 06:09 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins said Thursday, May 28, he expects his numbers to improve in the Cardinals' pass-happy offense. 'So myself, being a receiver, of course I see my stats going up. ... But I definitely see myself having one of my more productive seasons,' Hopkins said.

Footballguys view: We project him for around the same numbers he posted in 2019. Hopkins had 104 catches for 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns last year and those numbers sound about right for 2020 with his new team. He did have over 1,500 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns in 2018, so we have a good in between projection if you think he'll improve on his 2019 numbers. Either way, he's a superstar and a no-brainer starter every week.

Cardinals | DeAndre Hopkins likely to see drop in volume    Sat May 16, 05:35 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins ranks first in the NFL in targets (487) and receiving touchdowns (31) over the last three seasons. He also ranks second with 315 receptions in that time.

Footballguys view: We'll see how the Cardinals use him in 2020, and they do have other talented WRs on the roster, but Hopkins should still be producing at an incredibly high level. It wouldn't surprise us to see him used as much as he was with the Texans for years.

Ravens | Baltimore tried for DeAndre Hopkins?    Thu Apr 23, 06:37 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins was pursued by the Baltimore Ravens before he was dealt by the Houston Texans, according to multiple sources Thursday, April 23.   Cardinals | Trade no shock for DeAndre Hopkins    Fri Apr 17, 02:01 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins said Friday, April 17, he wasn't caught off guard by the March trade that sent him from the Houston Texans to Arizona, adding that he first started hearing trade rumors in 2019. 'It wasn't a big surprise,' Hopkins said on a media conference call. 'I was preparing for it.'

Footballguys view: Hopkins wanted a new deal with the Texans, and with three years remaining on his contract that just wasn't going to happen. We're sure there was some friction between the superstar wideout and Texans head coach Bill O'Brien, so that likely added to Hopkins preparation for a trade.

  Cardinals | DeAndre Hopkins is a game-changer    Thu Apr 16, 12:35 PM

Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim is excited about the addition of WR DeAndre Hopkins. 'I feel like DeAndre is a game-changer. He's a guy that can play on the perimeter. He's physical. He's got a great catching radius. Strong hands. Really good after the catch. And he's a tenacious competitor. So, to be able to add that type of player to our locker room, to me, gets me really, really excited,' Keim said of the team's new No. 1 receiver.

Footballguys view: Hopkins can make huge plays in the Kliff Kingsbury 'Air Raid' offense. He should be the favorite target for second-year quarterback Kyler Murray and Hopkins' presence should help the young passer avoid the sophomore slump.

Cardinals | Arizona not ruling out WR early in NFL Draft    Thu Apr 16, 11:57 AM

Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim, despite the trade for WR DeAndre Hopkins, isn't ruling out taking a wide receiver with their first-round pick, which is eighth overall. 'If there is a player and it's the right spot and it's somebody we're high on, we'll certainly take advantage of that,' Keim said.

Footballguys view: The trade for Hopkins likely means the team is not going wide receiver in round one. Instead, we think they go with an offensive tackle to help out the offensive line. The pick could be on the move if a team sends enough their way.
