Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson finished with five catches for 59 yards and a touchdown on six targets in Week 7 against the Atlanta Falcons, his third straight week with a score.

Footballguys view: Hockenson caught the game-winner on the last play of the game to keep the Falcons a must start matchups for tight ends, although Ian Thomas probably doesn't qualify on Thursday night.

Lions | T.J. Hockenson finds the end zone    Sun Oct 18, 05:31 PM

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson posted two catches for 17 yards and a touchdown on five targets in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Footballguys view: Hockenson was targeted for a score on the previous play but the fullback Jason Cabinda broke up the pass when he thought he was the target. Hockenson is doing enough to stay in lineups against Atlanta, but we're waiting for the ceiling game.

Lions | T.J. Hockenson finds end zone    Sun Oct 4, 06:45 PM

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson caught two passes for nine yards and one touchdown against the New Orleans Saints in Week 4.

Footballguys view: Hockenson added a two point conversion but was a small time fantasy performer in a matchup that had been producing big numbers for tight ends. The Saints top two corners were out and their quality may have funneled targets to tight ends, but Hockenson was a top 10 pick and should be a more foundational piece of this pass offense. He's a low ceiling TE1 going into his bye.

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson (ankle) said Thursday, Sept. 10, that he is back at '100 percent' following ankle surgery at the end of the 2019 season.

Footballguys view: Hockenson had expressed some hesitation about his ankle at the beginning of camp, but he is a full go this week and could get a lot of targets with Kenny Golladay ailing and possibly out.

Lions | T.J. Hockenson's ankle still an issue    Mon Aug 17, 02:12 PM

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson (ankle) told reporters Monday, Aug. 17, that the ankle injury that caused him to finish his rookie season on injured reserve has been an issue for him this offseason and that it is still not quite 100 percent.

Footballguys view: That was the last update we got on Hockenson too. He's not yet 100 percent, so we're waiting for a time with the talented second-year pro is at full strength. Hockenson flashed as a rookie early in the 2019 season and then fell off. We'll see if he can get as close to full strength as possible and play up to expectations.

Lions | T.J. Hockenson back on roster    Sat Aug 8, 05:17 PM

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson was activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, Aug. 8.

Footballguys view: Hockenson had some big-time flashes last year as a rookie. He's got the talent to be one of the best tight ends in the league, but Hockenson needs to stay healhty and gel further with QB Matthew Stafford. Hockenson played in 12 games last year before an ankle injury ended his first pro season. In mid-June, Hockenson was back to running routes but was not 100 percent healthy. We'll know more about his status as camp rolls on. Hockenson has breakout potential in 2020 with a current ADP of TE14 (13.03) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Lions | T.J. Hockenson on COVID list    Wed Jul 29, 06:18 PM

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, July 29.

Footballguys view: Hockenson will have to pass tests after a quarantine period in order to get on the field for practice. He's got plenty of upside but only flashed for a game or so as a rookie in 2019. Hockenson is a TE2 for Fantasy GMs as we all wait for him to play up to that potential.

Lions | T.J. Hockenson not fully healthy    Thu Jun 18, 04:34 PM

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson (ankle) has been able to start running routes a part of his rehab but has not completely recovered from his ankle injury, according to offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.

Footballguys view: The team likes where Hockenson is at in his recovery, he just has some more time to go. Hockenson is a fantastic talent but that ankle injury last November ended what was largely a disappointing rookie season (outside of Week 1) for the 2019 first-round pick. We'll see how much he gets eased into action when training camp gets here.

Lions | Growth expected from T.J. Hockenson     Fri Jun 12, 12:40 PM

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson was hurt more than most Lions pass-catchers following Mathew Stafford's season-ending injury in 2019, but Hockenson has the talent to blossom in his second pro season and should be a key part of an improved Lions offense, in the opinion of one NFL analyst.

Footballguys view: Hockenson had a lot of chances to score touchdowns early in the season but had trouble converting them. Tight ends are often slow starters in their NFL careers, even the best prospects, so Hockenson is a good candidate to target if you want to wait on tight end in drafts this year.

Lions | Detroit needs TEs to step up    Thu Apr 16, 11:58 AM

The Detroit Lions expect second-year TE T.J. Hockenson, according to The Detroit News' Justin Rogers, to take a big step forward in 2020. Hockenson exploded onto the scene during Week 1 last year, catching six passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. After that, he and TE Jesse James combined for just 42 catches, 378 yards and one score.

Footballguys view: Detroit offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will need to find a way to make Hockenson a bigger factor while also utilizing James in a complementary role.

Lions | T.J. Hockenson inspires confidence    Wed Feb 26, 08:43 PM

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson did enough in his 12-game rookie season to inspire hope for his future with the team, according to general manager Bob Quinn Tuesday, Feb. 25. 'I think we have a really good tight end that had a really strong rookie season,' Quinn said. 'Ended with an injury, but he's fighting back so we're extremely happy to have him on our team and expect big things going forward.'

Footballguys view: Hockenson's rookie season was a disappointment because it was cut short by injury. He finished with 32 catches for 367 yards and two touchdowns, with most of that production coming in Week 1 against the Cardinals when he had six catches for 131 yards and a touchdown. Hockenson is a dangerous weapon who can win in the deep middle seam and could be a key cog for the Lions offense in 2020 and beyond.

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson (leg) left the stadium in a walking boot and a scooter Thursday, Nov. 28, after being seen using crutches following the end of the game against the Chicago Bears.
