Rams | Darrell Henderson practices in full    Sat Oct 24, 05:12 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (thigh) practiced in full Saturday, Oct. 24, and doesn't carry an injury designation into the game Monday, Oct. 26, against the Chicago Bears.

Footballguys view: The Rams backfield is a mix of Henderson and Malcolm Brown with Henderson usually leading the way. The Bears have only allowed one 100-yard rusher this season (Ronald Jones) and are a tough draw. Consider Henderson a low-end RB2 or flex option in Week 7.

Rams | Darrell Henderson gets into end zone twice    Sun Oct 11, 06:43 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson ran 15 times for 38 yards and a touchdown in Week 5 against the Washington Football Team and he added three grabs for 30 yards and a score on four targets.

Footballguys view: Henderson ran with great initial burst and was a good passing game contributor while leading the backfield in carries. Cam Akers and Malcolm Brown still combined for more carries than Henderson and this backfield remains unpredictable. Henderson was likely on fantasy benches after Malcolm Brown got more work than him last week, and he'll only be a flex play against the 49ers next week despite the momentum.

Rams | Darrell Henderson likely will start    Mon Sep 28, 10:53 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson likely will be the starting running back in Week 4 after two straight strong performances, according to head coach Sean McVay.

Footballguys view: That sounds about right. Henderson had over 100 yards rushing against the Bills in Week 3. Against the Giants on Sunday, Henderson is a solid RB2 with RB1 upside for Fantasy GMs.

Rams | Darrell Henderson goes over 100 yards, TD    Sun Sep 27, 06:48 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson rushed 20 times for 114 yards and a touchdown in Week 3 against the Buffalo Bills and he added one reception for six yards on three targets.

Footballguys view: Henderson ran with great burst and conviction and certainly gave the Rams coaches something to think about even after second round pick Cam Akers is ready to play when he's over his rib injury. He is worth an RB2/Flex start whether Akers is active against the Giants next week or not.

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2. He also caught two passes for 40 yards during the game.

Footballguys view: Henderson's touchdown came during garbage time but he did have his signature burst and looked good after Cam Akers injury gave him more opportunity. He'll face a stout Bills defense next week and should be added on a lot of waiver wires this week.

Rams | Rams RBBC confirmed for Week 1    Wed Sep 9, 12:01 PM

Los Angeles Rams RBs Cam Akers, Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson (hamstring) will be part of a committee for Week 1, according to head coach Sean McVay. Henderson, who missed two weeks due to a hamstring injury, is expected to be ready. 'If (Henderson) is, that's a three-back rotation that you feel really good about,' McVay said. 'Exactly how those carries will be distributed is something we'll determine really as the week progresses and as the game unfolds.'

Footballguys view: McVay has talked about how he admires what Kyle Shanahan does with the 49ers backfield. That sort of three-headed RBBC will be what the Rams implement in 2020. This is a situation largely avoided by Fantasy GMs until we get more clarity on who could have the most fantasy value.

Rams | LAR keeping hope up for Darrell Henderson    Mon Sep 7, 03:47 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (hamstring) is making enough progress in his rehab to make head coach Sean McVay optimistic about his ability to return soon, according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic.

Footballguys view: Henderson, when healthy, will work into the backfield mix. Malcolm Brown is projected as their starter but rookie Cam Akers should get plenty of work too. When Henderson is back, the Rams are likely to go full RBBC and perhaps even use a 'hot hand' approach at the position.

Rams | Darrell Henderson works on side    Wed Sep 2, 09:13 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 2, but he did rehab work on the side.

Rams | Darrell Henderson not ready to practice    Tue Sep 1, 04:12 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (hamstring) wasn't a participant in practice Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Footballguys view: Henderson needs to get healthy to find his way into the RBBC. Cam Akers, rookie second-round pick from Florida State, is set to be the Rams lead back. Henderson will compete with Malcolm Brown to establish a pecking order behind Akers this season.

Rams | Darrell Henderson making progress    Mon Aug 31, 09:53 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (hamstring) is making progress in his recovery, but his status for Week 1 is uncertain.

Footballguys view: Henderson is trying to work his way into the mix of the Rams backfield. Rookie Cam Akers and Malcolm Brown are also in the mix. Akers should lead the way but Henderson can play a reserve role as a runner and receiver out of the backfield.

Rams | Darrell Henderson expected for Week 1    Thu Aug 27, 07:57 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (hamstring) is expected to play in the season opener, according to head coach Sean McVay Thursday, Aug. 27.

Footballguys view: This dampens some of the enthusiasm around Cam Akers after Henderson got hurt, but let's see if he makes through the week of practice and game before we close the book on this injury. It definitely takes some of the appeal of Henderson as a sleeper away because he relies on his speed to make an impact.

Rams | Updates on Darrell Henderson, Taylor Rapp    Sun Aug 23, 08:59 PM

Updating previous reports, Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (hamstring) could miss a few practices with a mild hamstring strain, according to Steve Wyche of NFL Network. S Taylor Rapp (knee) could be back before the end of the week, according to Wyche, who added that neither player looks to be in jeopardy of missing Week 1.

Footballguys view: A few practices is different than the 'McVay hopes he's ready for Week 1' reports from earlier. Keep an eye on this Rams running back situation, and make sure to monitor the ADP of rookie Cam Akers -- the likely lead player in the Rams backfield.

Rams | Darrell Henderson has minor hamstring injury    Sun Aug 23, 07:38 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (hamstring) was diagnosed with a mild hamstring injury Sunday, Aug. 23.

Footballguys view: Head coach Sean McVay told reporters Sunday that the team is hopeful Henderson will be ready for Week 1. This hamstring injury is opening the door even more for rookie Cam Akers to take the lead in the backfield. The Rams are looking at a RBBC when everyone is healthy but Akers might get a healthy workload early on. Akers has a current ADP of RB30 (5.12) but that could rise if Henderson misses the rest of camp.

Rams | Darrell Henderson may be ready for Week 1    Sun Aug 23, 04:16 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (hamstring) has been diagnosed with a low-grade hamstring strain and may be available for the start of the regular season, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Henderson still should drop some on boards as a second half of the draft flier and Cam Akers is now set to get the majority of the workload vs Dallas to open the season, with Malcolm Brown lurking at the goal line. If Henderson can get in a full practice in the week before the opener, then perhaps this will end up not changing his outlook, but we have to be cautious with hamstring injuries for speed players like Henderson.

Rams | Darrell Henderson limps off    Sat Aug 22, 09:45 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (leg) limped off the practice field with an apparent leg injury Saturday, Aug. 22.

Footballguys view: This opens the door for Cam Akers to open the season as the unquestioned starter, although Malcolm Brown could still get goal line carries to lower Akers ceiling. John Kelly could make the team if Henderson isn't ready for Week 1.

Rams | Sean McVay talks up RBBC again    Tue Jul 21, 11:38 PM

Los Angeles Rams RBs Cam Akers, Darrell Henderson, John Kelly and Malcolm Brown will likely be expected to begin the season in a committee, as head coach Sean McVay specifically mentioned the way the San Francisco 49ers used their running backs last season as a model for what he hopes the Rams will attempt to do at the position in 2020.'I think it'll just naturally work itself out. I think if you look at that success San Fran had last year with that running back-by-committee approach. What I thought Kyle (Shanahan) and their players did a great job of is, 'Hey, we're going to have an open-mind approach, we're going to be committed to trying to have some balance and then we'll go with the hot hand or whoever really expresses himself as deserving of the carries,' McVay said on The Helliepod.

Footballguys view: This is a nightmare for Fantasy GMs who are looking for value. The Rams have talented backs who do things each a little differently but they're not going to pick one to lead the way. In addition to a RBBC, this situation could turn into the dreaded 'hot hand' approach which is incredibly difficult for Fantasy GMs to navigate. The rookie Akers is the first Rams running back coming off the board with a current ADP of RB26 (5.06) followed up by Henderson at RB50 (10.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Rams | Darrell Henderson pronounces himself fit    Wed Jun 10, 11:45 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (ankle) told reporters during a Zoom call Wednesday, June 10, that he has fully recovered from surgery to address the high-ankle sprain he suffered late last season.

Footballguys view: Henderson is going to compete to establish a pecking order in the backfield with Todd Gurley moving on to the Falcons. His main competition will be rookie Cam Akers and veteran Malcolm Brown. All three have differing skill sets, and this may end up being some form of a three-headed RBBC.

Rams | Early impact Cam Akers?    Sat Apr 25, 09:40 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Cam Akers 'is in a great spot to compete for carries' with RB Malcolm Brown and RB Darrell Henderson, according to Matt Bowen of ESPN.com, and Bowen believes Akers offers 'upside' in the passing game.

Footballguys view: This has the makings of a three-headed RBBC for the Rams...and a nightmare for Fantasy GMs. Akers is a natural runner and can be used effectively as a receiver out of the backfield. He could win the top job in a committee approach.

Rams | Darrell Henderson draws high praise    Thu Apr 16, 11:47 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson wasn't able to contribute much as a rookie in 2019, but a pair of his teammates were not shy about their feeling about his potential. OT Andrew Whitworth said Anderson displayed elements of 'lightning in a bottle,' while QB Jared Goff described him as 'a special talent.''He's got the ability to be, I think, as time goes on, a top guy. We're going to have to wait and see, but he's got everything you want.' Goff said.

Footballguys view: Henderson is going to split time in the Rams backfield with Malcolm Brown. He didn't do much as a rookie, but when the team moved on from Todd Gurley it opened up a door of opportunity.

Rams | LA Rams likely eyeing committee backfield    Mon Apr 6, 10:08 PM

Los Angeles Rams RBs Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson may end up sharing snaps in 2020, based on comments made by general manager Les Snead on Monday, April 6.'What we do want to be is a team that utilizes more than one workhorse moving the ball, with different skill sets.'

Footballguys view: Both are talented backs and we'll have to wait and see if one of them emerges as the primary back. Brown is more of a power back who can grind it out between the tackles and pick up tough yards. Henderson is more of a well-rounded back who doesn't need to come off the field. He'll need to be better in pass-protection if he wants a larger role. We'll see these two battle in training camp.

Rams | Darrell Henderson to IR    Sat Dec 28, 04:14 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Dec. 28. RB John Kelly was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster.

Footballguys view: A third-round pick out of Memphis in the 2019 NFL draft, Henderson didn't do much in his rookie season working as a backup to Todd Gurley. He finishes his rookie year with 39 carries for 147 yards on the ground with four catches for 37 yards. We appreciate him in dynasty formats still and look to see if he can improve as his career goes on.

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (ankle) likely will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list because of the high ankle sprain he suffered in Week 16.

Footballguys view: Henderson, a third-round pick out of Memphis in the 2019 NFL draft, has appeared in seven games and has rushed for 147 yards and a meager 3.8 yards per carry. Henderson will need to undergo surgery to repair the injury.

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson rushed 11 times for a team-high 49 yards in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals in London and he added two grabs for 20 yards on three targets.

Footballguys view: Henderson looked better than he did last week, although Malcolm Brown has the bye week to get healthy and complicate this running back depth chart. Henderson isn't an essential hold through the bye.

Rams | Darrell Henderson sees 11 rushes    Sun Oct 20, 06:28 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson rushed 11 times for 31 yards in Week 7 against the Atlanta Falcons while adding an eight-yard catch on his only target.

Footballguys view: Henderson was a big disappointment in a game with extra opportunity against a weak defense in a blowout. He's worth holding in deep leagues to see if he can get a similar script against the Bengals next week.

Rams | Malcolm Brown expected to receive bulk of carries    Sun Oct 13, 08:23 AM

Los Angeles Rams RB Malcolm Brown is expected to be the team's featured back in Week 6's game against the San Francisco 49ers, as a result of RB Todd Gurley (quadriceps) being ruled out. RB Darrell Henderson will also likely see an increased number of offensive snaps.

Footballguys view: Brown is facing a very tough run defense and is only a low ceiling flex, better suited for use in nonPPR leagues. Henderson should be added in leagues with large enough benches because he could make enough of an impression to have a larger role going forward.

Rams | Opportunity for Darrell Henderson?    Fri Oct 11, 10:27 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson said he is going to be prepared for whatever role is asked of him if RB Todd Gurley (quadriceps) is unable to play against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6.

Footballguys view: Gurley (quad) is doubtful for the Rams' Week 6 matchup against the 49ers. That means the Rams could turn to Malcolm Brown and Henderson at the running back position. Brown is the power back and Henderson is a good all-purpose back. Brown is a RB2 with upside while Henderson is a 'what the heck' flex.

Rams | Darrell Henderson turns in sub-par effort    Sun Aug 25, 02:18 AM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson ran for 28 yards on 11 carries and added a four-yard reception in the team's third preseason game against the Denver Broncos on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Footballguys view: Henderson has failed to make a big impact in the preseason. He is competing with John Kelly for touches and might not play a big role to begin the season. Henderson can still establish relevance quickly and is worth a bench spot, but his first few games will be key to see if his offseason ADP was too optimistic.

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson rushed six times for 13 yards and lost five yards on his only reception in a 14-3 preseason loss to the Oakland Raiders Saturday, Aug. 10.

Footballguys view: Henderson hasn't popped in camp like Miles Sanders or in the first preseason game like David Montgomery. After being listed 5th on the first depth chart, the air is coming out of his overinflated ADP.

Rams | Light shed on Darrell Henderson's role?    Mon Jul 29, 03:16 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson is expected to be utilized in the same kind of 'flexible mismatch' role Chris Thompson assumed when head coach Sean McVay was the offensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins.

Footballguys view: Chris Thompson flirted with RB1 value in PPR leagues in McVay's offense so this isn't bad news for Henderson's stock, although he's being drafted close to his ceiling if Todd Gurley stays healthy all year. This is enough to justify him at ADP when combined with the Gurley injury upside.
