Football Team | Dwayne Haskins fined    Sat Oct 24, 08:44 AM

Washington Football Team QB Dwayne Haskins was fined $4,833 by the National Football League for violating the team's COVID-19 protocols. According to a source, he made a reservation for a family friend at the club's hotel, which is strictly prohibited.

Footballguys view: This fine is unlikely to heal any sort of fractures the relationship Haskins may now have with the organization. Washington is set to dress two quarterbacks (Kyle Allen, Alex Smith) and that means Haskins will likely be a healthy scratch again in Week 7. There's a chance he could be dealt before the trade deadline.

Washington Football Team QB Dwayne Haskins (illness) is out of practice Wednesday, Oct. 14, due to an illness. He has tested for COVID-19 repeatedly, and all tests were negative.

Footballguys view: Haskins has not requested a trade per reports but there is speculation that the team could be shopping the 2019 first-round pick. They have Kyle Allen as their starter when healthy and veteran Alex Smith as a backup. Haskins may not be able to see the field again this year for Washington.

Football Team | Dwayne Haskins could be moved    Sun Oct 11, 11:09 AM

Washington Football Team QB Dwayne Haskins could be moved before the trade deadline, according to source.

Footballguys view: It appears the new regime has no interest in Haskins starting and Haskins should want a fresh start somewhere else. Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Indianapolis, and Tampa Bay are logical destinations with aging starters.

Football Team | Dwayne Haskins struggled to grasp offense    Thu Oct 8, 02:46 AM

Washington Football Team QB Dwayne Haskins had trouble learning the new offense, according to MMQB's Albert Breer, which was a big reason the team decided to bench him.

Footballguys view: Haskins was not drafted by this regime, so the 2019 first-round pick cannot be considered their quarterback of the future. He'll have to prove himself in practice and get an opportunity later in the year. Kyle Allen takes over as the team's starter this week, although Washington will examine that decision on a weekly basis.

Football Team | Alex Smith the backup    Wed Oct 7, 09:47 AM

Washington Football Team QB Alex Smith is the backup to QB Kyle Allen after QB Dwayne Haskins was benched.

Footballguys view: We'll see if Smith is the next in line to get a chance to start. Dwayne Haskins was benched and Kyle Allen is the new starter for Washington. Smith has worked diligently to get back on the field and could be in line for snaps if Allen is benched or banged up.

Football Team | Dwayne Haskins throws for 314 yards    Sun Oct 4, 04:52 PM

Washington Football Team QB Dwayne Haskins went 32-for-45 for 314 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4. He also rushed for three yards and one touchdown on three carries during the game.

Footballguys view: Did Haskins play well enough to keep his job? He didn't have any huge mistakes and he wasn't really the reason Washington lost, but he wasn't going to be able to help them win either. The Rams defense next week is no pushover so expect Haskins to get further out on the plank if he didn't walk to the end this week.

Football Team | Dwayne Haskins could be on thin ice    Sun Oct 4, 08:22 AM

Washington Football Team QB Dwayne Haskins could be removed from his starting role in favor of QB Kyle Allen if he turns in another lackluster performance in Week 4's game versus the Baltimore Ravens, according to multiple sources.

Football Team | Dwayne Haskins Jr. makes many mistakes    Sun Sep 27, 05:01 PM

Washington Football Team QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. completed 21-of-37 passes for 224 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in the Week 3 game against the Cleveland Browns and he also fumbled twice, losing one.

Footballguys view: Haskins turnovers were the difference in the game. It's fair to ask how much longer Ron Rivera will tolerate games like this before he installs Kyle Allen as the starter.

Football Team | Dwayne Haskins named starting QB    Wed Sep 2, 02:02 PM

Washington Football Team QB Dwayne Haskins will be the team's starting quarterback this season, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Footballguys view: The team has to see what Haskins has as a starter. Even though the last regime drafted him in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft, Haskins could be the franchise quarterback for Rivera and company. We'll see what he can do as the starter, but he's not guaranteed the job for the entire season. If he struggles, the team could turn to Alex Smith or Kyle Allen. Haskins is mostly a low-end QB2 or QB3 for Fantasy GMs in 2020.

Football Team | Coach keeping QB timeline secret    Fri Aug 28, 12:51 PM

Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera says he has a timeline on when he'll make a starting quarterback decision from candidates Dwayne Haskins, Alex Smith and Kyle Allen, but refused to share the specific details of that timeline Friday, Aug. 28, during a media videoconference.

Footballguys view: Haskins is going to be the starter, no matter how much gamesmanship Rivera wants to employ.

Football Team | Dwayne Haskins showing well    Thu Aug 27, 08:01 PM

Washington Football Team Dwayne Haskins has created a great deal of space between himself and Kyle Allen to begin the season as the starting quarterback, in the opinion of Washington Wire's Zachary Neel. Haskins has reportedly looked much improved in camp and displayed a solid grasp of the new offense.

Footballguys view: Haskins should be better than last year, and while that probably only amounts to an emergency play in 1QB leagues and QB3 in superflex/2QB leagues, he should have more volume this year and can support at least two viable wide receivers and maybe Logan Thomas's fantasy value too.

Redskins | Dwayne Haskins still shedding weight    Fri Jun 12, 09:35 PM

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins said he is down to 218 pounds after weighing 237 pounds at the start of last season. 'I'll be more dynamic,' he said.

Footballguys view: Haskins flashed as a rookie last year but he needs to be more consistent in 2020. He's going to compete with Kyle Allen for the starting job and we believe he should win. We'll see if reduced weight can help his athleticism and help Haskins flash those tools that made him a first-round pick last year.

Redskins | Dwayne Haskins working out with teammate    Sat Jun 6, 08:16 PM

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins recently worked out with WR Steven Sims.

Footballguys view: Sims had a very strong finish to the season and Washington didn't add anyone significant at wide receiver. He is a good deep league late round sleeper and should be on dynasty rosters and redraft waiver wire watch lists.

Redskins | Dwayne Haskins took a huge step forward late    Sun May 31, 04:13 PM

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins took a combined three sacks and went 31-of-43 (72 percent) as a passer for 394 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions over his final two starts of 2019. In his first seven appearances as a pro (five starts), he was sacked an average of 3.7 times and went 88-for-160 (55 percent) as a passer for 971 yards, three touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Footballguys view: There is no doubt that Haskins flashed ability as a rookie...he just didn't get much time to prove himself. He'll compete in training camp with Kyle Allen for the starting job. The last coaching regime brought in Haskins as a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft. He'll have to prove himself to new head coach Ron Rivera, and if he plays like he did late last year then that shouldn't be a problem.

Redskins | Dwayne Haskins finished strong    Fri May 29, 01:50 PM

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins ranked 10th among quarterbacks in terms of Pro Football Focus passing grade over Weeks 9-17 of the 2019 season.

Footballguys view: Haskins did flash at times during his rookie season. He appeared in nine games and mostly struggled due to a lack of talent around him. Haskins has a strong arm and the ability to extend plays, making him an interesting developmental prospect. He will compete with Kyle Allen for the starting job in training camp.

Redskins | Dwayne Haskins impressing his OC    Wed May 27, 09:54 PM

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins has spent the last few months throwing with WRs Terry McLaurin and Kelvin Harmon and is 'doing a great job' so far this offseason, according to offensive coordinator Scott Turner.'We're putting a lot of work in, obviously abiding by the rules that the NFL has set forth - four days a week, two hours a day. We're kind of throwing a lot at them. In the beginning of every meeting, we do some quizzes. Just test their retention. When we're talking to him, he is speaking the language. It's pretty easy to tell if they get it or not. Dwayne's doing a great job. You can tell he's putting the work in away from the meeting time, and he's working at it and doing as much as he can. ... The time he's putting in with the receivers, Terry and Kelvin, they all have been throwing together for some time now. That's all positive. Obviously as a coach and with me, coming in new and putting in this new offense I'd love to have more time with him, but it is what it is. I think that we're doing a great job with making the most of the situation,' Turner told the writers during a video call Wednesday, May 27.

Footballguys view: Haskins was the team's 2019 first-round pick but that was the last coaching regime. We'll see if Ron Rivera likes him more than Kyle Allen in training camp. Haskins has tools and did flash just a bit last year as a rookie in limited action.

Redskins | Dwayne Haskins drops weight    Fri May 15, 07:46 PM

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins said he has dropped 11 pounds this offseason.

Footballguys view: Haskins may feel the weight loss will make him quicker on the move. He was the team's first-round pick in 2019 and he did flash a bit in limited playing time as a rookie. However, this new staff led by head coach Ron Rivera has no ties to Haskins and he will have to compete for the starting job with Kyle Allen in training camp.

Redskins | Dwayne Haskins to open camp as starter    Mon Mar 30, 02:16 PM

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins will open training camp as the No. 1 quarterback but will have to compete for the job during the preseason, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Footballguys view: Kyle Allen was added for competition and he will push Haskins for the starting job. Haskins flashed as a rookie in 2019 but he was not picked by the current staff so he could have a short hook as the starter -- if he even wins the starting job in camp.

Redskins | Dwayne Haskins will begin as QB1    Sat Feb 8, 04:00 PM

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins will begin the era of head coach Ron Rivera as the team's No. 1 quarterback, according to senior vice president of player development Doug Williams Friday, Feb. 7. 'The new staff knows that Dwayne Haskins is the starting quarterback here,' Williams said. 'The only thing that can happen is for Dwayne to give it back to them. It's up to him to learn the playbook, wear the coaches out. He's got to stay at the facility until they run him out of the building. ...'Dwayne has a long way to go. But like I told him, he was doing what we expected him to do. He was ascending. Hopefully the way he goes now, he keeps going up. All eyes are going to be on him. At the same time you've got a new coaching staff and they're not married to him.'

Footballguys view: Rivera didn't go on and on about Haskins at his introductory press conference earlier this year. That being said, Haskins is their guy and the quarterback they will try to build around. He did show some flashes last year as a rookie under the old coaching staff, but Haskins will have to show growth and improvement even more this year or else Rivera will have cache to find himself another quarterback.

Redskins | Dwayne Haskins not locked in as QB1    Thu Jan 9, 01:40 AM

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins will need to earn the starting job leading up the 2020 season, according to comments made by head coach Ron Rivera, who said that, 'We won't know until we get ready to open up in September,' while also mentioning that the team has 'good veteran quarterbacks that [will] get some opportunities to play.'

Footballguys view: A most....interesting...news item here. While we don't need Rivera to do cartwheels when talking about Haskins, most did expect him to declare with certainty that Haskins was their guy...at least for 2020. At the end of the day this is likely just coach-speak and Rivera doesn't want to overstate anything. Haskins needs better weapons around him and he can build on what he flashed in his rookie season.
