NFL | Rob Gronkowski considering return in 2023    Sun Dec 25, 12:23 PM

Free-agent TE Rob Gronkowski (Buccaneers) won't come out of retirement in 2022, but he is leaving the door open for a possible return in 2023 after speaking with multiple teams this season, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Sunday, Dec. 25.

Buccaneers | Rob Gronkowski reached out to Tampa Bay recently    Fri Dec 23, 01:58 PM

Retired TE Rob Gronkowski contacted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers about a possible return to the team in November.'It was more of a conversation than anything else. Usually, when you have to think about playing, you probably don't want to play. When it's just a discussion, I didn't think much of it at the time,' Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said.

Footballguys view: Gronkowski tweeted that he was bored this week, setting off speculation that he could return. It's still not out of the question that we have him for our playoff fantasy leagues, but highly unlikely.

Buccaneers | Gronk reiterates desire to stay retired    Wed Jul 20, 11:52 AM

Retired TE Rob Gronkowski once again stated his desire to remain retired in an interview with 'Good Morning America' published on Wednesday, July 20. 'I won't go back to football,' Gronkowski said. 'I'm all set.' Gronk's girlfriend and agent recently stated they thought he would come out of retirement to play again, but Gronkowski clearly disagrees.

Footballguys view: There have been too many reports in conflict with the idea that Gronkowski is retired for good to take his word at face value.

Buccaneers | Gronk's girlfriend thinks he'll play again    Tue Jul 19, 09:25 PM

Retired TE Rob Gronkowski's girlfriend, Camille Kostek, believes he will play again. 'I am a honest lady, and honestly, I don't feel like this one is the forever one,' Kostek. 'So, I think maybe he'll come back again. I feel like him and Tom are just having fun, like, 'retired, not retired, retired, not retired.''

Footballguys view: Let's just say if Gronkowski unretires during the season or playoffs, none of us can say we weren't warned. Depending on how deep your tight end premium dynasty league is, you might want to hold onto him.

NFL | Rob Gronkowski doubles down on retirement    Tue Jul 12, 01:54 PM

Retired TE Rob Gronkowski (Buccaneers) told ESPN.com's Mike Reiss that he is 'done with football' ... and will remain retired even if Tom Brady tries to convince him otherwise.

Footballguys view: Gronkowski has retired and it seems like he might stay retired this time. If we get late in the season and Brady needs him to get the team over the hump, then perhaps he'd strap on his helmet once again for his best friend. For now, the Buccaneers (and Fantasy GMs) should consider Gronkowski done.

Buccaneers | Mike Evans: Gronk is 'done'    Wed Jul 6, 11:58 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans believes retired TE Rob Gronkowski will stay retired. 'I feel like he's done,' Evans said. 'He takes a pretty big beating; I've seen his body after some of them games and I understand why [he would retire].'

Footballguys view: Gronkowski is retired...for now. Many feel if QB Tom Brady gives him a call at some point later in the season, Gronkowski would answer the call. Apparently, Evans thinks his former teammate is done. Never say never, but Gronkowski is retired and may choose to stay that way.

Buccaneers | Gronk's agent leaves door open    Tue Jun 21, 09:49 PM

Retired TE Rob Gronkowski's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, says he wouldn't be surprised if the tight end came out of retirement, either in 2022 or 2023. 'It would not surprise me if Tom Brady calls him during the season to come back and Rob answers the call,' Rosenhaus said. 'This is just my opinion but I wouldn't be surprised if Rob comes back during the season or next season.'

Footballguys view: Gronkowski is done...for now. He's been retired before, and then Gronkowski received a call from Brady and was back in the league. We'll see if he stays retired or returns at some point during the regular season.

NFL | Rob Gronkowski calling it a career?    Tue Jun 21, 02:20 PM

Free-agent TE Rob Gronkowski (Buccaneers) reportedly will announce his retirement in the near future, according to Jordan Schultz.

Footballguys view: Gronkowski has retired...for now. Many speculate - including Gronkowski's own agent - that if QB Tom Brady calls sometime during the season that the future Hall of Fame tight end will answer the call. Cameron Brate is now the unquestioned lead tight end for the Buccaneers with Gronkowski calling it a career...for now.

Buccaneers | Rob Gronkowski won't be at minicamp    Sun Jun 5, 10:16 AM

Free-agent TE Rob Gronkowski (Buccaneers) will not take part in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' mandatory minicamp during the upcoming week but the team remains cautiously optimistic that he will re-sign with them before training camp begins in late July.

Footballguys view: If Gronkowski is going to play it's going to be for the Buccaneers. Most around the league feel that he will re-sign with the team for one more season. He and QB Tom Brady can make one more run at a Super Bowl with the Buccaneers this season. Gronkowski may not be the same player he used to be, but Fantasy GMs know that TE1 production can come from him (he's been the no.5 and no.8 fantays TE over the last two seasons in Tampa). It's not only because of his connection with Brady but it's his presence in the red zone that helps his fantasy production.

Buccaneers | Gronk hinting at retirement?    Sun May 15, 04:17 PM

Free-agent TE Rob Gronkowski (Buccaneers) might have hinted at retirement in a response to a social media post from Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Leonard Fournette on Sunday, May 15. 'I wonder how many 7 jerseys I'm going to see in the stands this year,' Fournette posted, to which Gronk replied, 'I'll represent a 7 jersey in the stands for ya!'

Footballguys view: Gronkowski has yet to make a decision on playing in 2022. He says it would only take two weeks for him to get up to speed, so any decision may not come until later in the summer.

Buccaneers | Rob Gronkowski still undecided    Sat May 14, 02:48 PM

Free-agent TE Rob Gronkowski (Buccaneers) remains undecided about playing in 2022 and there is no timetable for his decision, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said on Friday, May 13.

Footballguys view: Gronkowski doesn't need to make a decision anytime soon. In fact, we might get to training camp and the preseason before he makes a decision to play football .Gronkowski has admitted himself that it would take him only a couple of weeks to get ready to play. If he does play this season it will be for the Buccaneers with his best buddy QB Tom Brady - so now we wait (some more).

NFL | TE Gronkowski Only Needs 2 Weeks to Be Ready    Sun May 8, 04:01 PM

Gronkwoski believes it won't take long for him to get up to speed if/when he comes out of retirement. "I feel like I can get ready at any time for football, like it'll take me two weeks only, so, I'm not really worried about it," he said. "It's just cool just to be doing other things and enjoying them."

Footballguys view: In this interview, Gronkowski also confirmed that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the only team he'll play for. Once QB Tom Brady decided to come out of retirement, it was only going to be a matter of time before Gronkowski decided to play again as well. He hasn't officially said what he's going to do, but everyone expects Gronkowski to sign with the Buccaneers at some point before training camp.

Buccaneers | Gronkowski To Return or Retire?    Thu May 5, 03:55 PM

Greg Auman, from The Athletic, believes it's more likely that tight end Rob Gronkowski returns to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers than retire from football.

Footballguys view: When Tom Brady came back from his one-month retirement, many thought that Gronkowski would follow him. That's not yet the case, but the door is always open for Gronkowski to stay with the Buccaneers. They spent a fourth-round pick on TE Cade Otton and currently have Cameron Brate at the top of the depth chart.

NFL | Rob Gronkowski noncommittal to 2022    Tue Apr 5, 01:10 PM

Free-agent TE Rob Gronkowski (Buccaneers) is 'not ready to commit to the game of football right now,' Gronkowski recently told TMZ in an interview.

Footballguys view: Gronkowski is likely to play for only one team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, if he decides to play another season. With QB Tom Brady coming back for one more season, we imagine Gronkowski won't pass up that temptation to catch passes from his best buddy for another season.

Free-agent TE Rob Gronkowski (Buccaneers) has 'given some indications' that he will return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022 season, according to CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora.

Footballguys view: This news should surprise nobody. Gronkowski loves playing with QB Tom Brady, and so long as Brady is playing we'll likely see the veteran tight end stay with him. Gronkowski is unlikely to consider playing for any other organization if he decides not to retire.

Footballguys view: Brady has retired, officially, but he's also said "never say never" when it comes to a potential return. We think Gronkowski sticks around in the NFL so long as his best buddy Brady keeps playing. Stay tuned.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent TE Rob Gronkowski said that he would like to play with Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow if he isn't able to play with QB Tom Brady. If I had to pick a quarterback it'd be the young buck Joe Burrow.'

Footballguys view: Gronkowski is done playing because QB Tom Brady has retired. He's likely going to TV to be an analyst, but if there was somehow/someway we could get more Gronkowski in 2022 on the field we are all for it.

Buccaneers | Rob Gronkowski leaning toward retirement?    Wed Jan 26, 03:12 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Rob Gronkowski said he probably would retire if he had to make a decision now but believes he could change his mind in a few weeks.

Footballguys view: Gronkowski's future is tied to Tom Brady. If Brady comes back for another run in 2022, Gronkowski will likely join him. If Brady calls it a career, then Gronkowski will as well. No hurry on this decision, but keep an eye on Brady's status if you want to know what's happening with Gronkowski.

Buccaneers | Rob Gronkowski will take a few weeks to decide future    Mon Jan 24, 04:18 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Rob Gronkowski will take a few weeks to see where he's at, he said Monday, Jan. 24, before deciding his playing future.

Footballguys view: Gronkowski's future seems tied to Tom Brady. If Brady continues to play, and that is a big unknown right now, then Gronkowski will join him. If Brady hangs up his cleats, then Gronkowski will be back on TV somewhere breaking down football and getting paid to be himself. We're good either way, so long as football fans get to keep watching Gronk do his thing.

Buccaneers | Rob Gronkowski would consider returning    Mon Jan 24, 12:43 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Rob Gronkowski said he'd consider returning to the Bucs even if QB Tom Brady retires.

Footballguys view: The Buccaneers could have Leonard Fournette out there as the lead back in the Wild Card Round but he's a game-time decision. Behind him, Gio Bernard and Le'Veon Bell could work into the mix with Bell getting the most work if Fournette can't play. Gronkowski is just getting rest before the playoffs, but he should be good to go this weekend.
