Detroit Lions impending free-agent DE Everson Griffen said in a telephone interview with Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press Thursday, Jan. 7, that he is interested in returning to the Minnesota Vikings, where he spent the bulk of his NFL career. 'You tell them, I said, 'If you want it, go get it,'' Griffen said. 'You can put that.' Griffen had dropped hints on Twitter earlier this week about wanting to join the Vikings by retweeting Minnesota fans clamoring for his return, as well as retweeting a quote by head coach Mike Zimmer stating that getting more pass rushers is a priority for the team.

Dallas Cowboys DE Everson Griffen was acquired by the Detroit Lions Tuesday, Oct. 27, in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Footballguys view: The Lions need pass rush help and here comes Griffen. The Cowboys signed him to a one-year deal but decided to move on since their season is in the tank since the injury to Dak Prescott. Griffen has 3.0 sacks so far this season and will give the Lions a boost in that department. |

Dallas Cowboys DE Everson Griffen was traded to the Detroit Lions in exchange for undisclosed draft pick compensation Tuesday, Oct. 27, according to sources.
Footballguys view: We learned on Monday that Griffen was on the trade block and just one day later he's dealt to a new team. The Cowboys are calling it a year after the loss of Dak Prescott and that's why they sent the veteran pass rusher packing. |

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys DE Everson Griffen agreed to a one-year deal with a $3 million base salary and includes $3 million in potential roster bonuses.
Footballguys view: There were more than a few teams that were rumored to be interested in Griffen but nobody got a contract worked out with him before the Cowboys did. He's a savvy veteran who can get pressure on the quarterback regularly. His skill set may be in a decline based on how 2019 fell off as the season went on, but Griffen is a solid signing for a revamped Cowboys defense. |

Free-agent DE Everson Griffen (Vikings) agreed to terms with the Dallas Cowboys Wednesday, Aug. 12, according to a source.

Free-agent LB Clay Matthews (Rams) and LB Everson Griffen (Vikings) have received interest from the Seattle Seahawks.
Footballguys view: The two have a history with Seahawks coach Pete Carroll from their days together at USC. Seattle has been thinking about bringing back LB Jadeveon Clowney but his asking price might be too rich. Griffen has reportedly been getting interest from the Packers for some time but no deal has yet to materialize. Matthews hasn't gotten much interest on the open market but that could change with camps opening up around the league. |

Free-agent DE Everson Griffen (Vikings) and the Green Bay Packers have mutual interest as Griffen narrows down his choices for 2020.
Footballguys view: The Packers interest is ...interesting to say the least due to the logjam of talent they have in the front seven of their defense. Griffen could end up back with the Vikings and earlier reports indicated the Cardinals might have interest as well. Entering his 11th season as a pro, Griffen is coming off an 8.0 sack season in 2019. |

Free-agent DE Everson Griffen (Vikings) is a player that Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer would like to re-sign, but Zimmer said he is not sure if the two sides are talking at this time.
Footballguys view: Earlier in the offseason it looked like Griffen wasn't going to come back to the Vikings, but his price might have dropped enough to make him more palatable to Minnesota and the lack of interest could motivate him to return to a known situation. If Griffen does return, he'll close the door on a Ifeadi Odenigbo breakout opposite Danielle Hunter. |

Free-agent DEs Jadeveon Clowney (Seahawks), Everson Griffen (Vikings) and DE Markus Golden (Giants) likely will not receive interest from the New York Jets because the team wants to move their unspent salary cap space to next season, in the opinion of the New York Post's Brian Costello.
Footballguys view: The Jets are still looking to the future and don't want to invest to upgrade the leagues' most underwhelming edge rush group. Golden is likely to return to the Giants, Clowney could still end up with the Seahawks, but Griffen is almost certainly not coming back to the Vikings. |

Free-agent DE Everson Griffen (Vikings) does not appear to be an option for the Cleveland Browns at this time, in the opinion of The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot.
Footballguys view: Griffen is now 32 years old and his market has been cool to say the least. There was speculation earlier this year that Griffen could end up staying with the Vikings. We should see something develop for the veteran before the start of the regular season. |

Free agent DE Everson Griffen and the the Minnesota Vikings could be reunited this offseason -- a situation Vikings general manager Rick Spielman is refusing to rule out. 'It is hard to say right now where everything is at and where we are at, (but) until things become more normalized I will never say never on a player,' Spielman said. 'I know it will be very hard on a salary cap standpoint. I don't want to get into the business side of it, but right now I know where our roster is.'
