The Detroit Lions brought in four players for workouts this week, including S DeJon Gomes (Redskins/Lions), CB Brandon Ghee (Titans), WR Skye Dawson (Buccaneers) and WR Colin Lockett (Bengals). Gomes and Dawson were eventually signed.

The Detroit Lions have waived P Drew Butler, QB James Franklin, CB Jonte Green, FB Chad Abram and CB Aaron Hester. The team also placed SS DeJon Gomes (undisclosed) on the Reserve/Injured list.

Detroit Lion SS DeJon Gomes replaced SS James Ihedigbo (leg) with the first-team Thursday, Aug. 7, when Ihedigbo missed a portion of practice after being kicked in the leg. Gomes has also practiced with the first-team special teams unit throughout camp.

| Footballguys view: Williams lost out to Evan Royster for a spot in the backfield behind Alfred Morris and Roy Helu. He can line up at running back or fullback and could latch on with another team in the near future. He can also contribute on special teams. |
