Dolphins | Miami roughed up in finale at Buffalo    Sun Jan 3, 05:11 PM

Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa completed 35-of-58 passes for 361 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions while running for 28 yards in a 56-26 loss at Buffalo in Week 17. RB Salvon Ahmed led the way on the ground with 29 yards and a touchdown, while RB Myles Gaskin had 20 rushing yards on seven attempts with a score. WR DeVante Parker topped the charts with seven grabs for a game-high 116 yards on 14 targets, while Gaskin had 57 receiving yards. TE Mike Gesicki added five catches for 47 yards on his 10 targets, while WR Lynn Bowden Jr. registered 44 yards on eight snags with 12 targets. WR Malcolm Perry also found the end zone with a 25-yard score on his only catch. LB Andrew Van Ginkel led the defense with five solo stops, a sack, three tackles for loss, a pass defensed and a quarterback hit.

Footballguys view: At the beginning of the season, making the playoffs seemed like a worthy but likely unreachable goal for the Dolphins. They were one win from making it this year, but certainly will have a playoffs or bust approach next season. Tagovailoa didn't exactly impress despite a good win-loss record and the Dolphins should at least do their due diligence on the draft quarterbacks since they are holding the #3 pick thanks to Houston and the Laremy Tunsil trade.

The Miami Dolphins have declared DE Jason Strowbridge, WR DeVante Parker, TE Mike Gesicki, OG Ereck Flowers, WR Jakeem Grant and FB Chandler Cox inactive for Week 15.

Dolphins | Mike Gesicki upgraded    Thu Dec 17, 06:19 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki registered five receptions for 65 yards and two touchdowns in Week 14 against the Kansas City Chiefs on six targets.

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki registered game highs with nine catches, 88 yards and 11 targets while also posting a touchdown in Week 13 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Footballguys view: Gesicki had a top notch highlight on his one-handed catch over the middle and appears to be Tua Tagovailoa's favorite target. Gesicki has given us quite the rollercoaster ride this year, but he is a solid play against the Chiefs next week.

Dolphins | OC discusses Mike Gesicki's recent production    Tue Oct 6, 05:20 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki has been limited to one catch on three targets for 15 yards in each of his last two games following a Week 2 outburst in which he amassed eight catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey attributed the recent downturn to tighter coverage from opponents and not wanting to force the ball to him when it looks like he is double-covered.'A few times it's looked like they were double-covering him and they ended up single-covering him; but to the quarterback on his first look, it looked double covered, so (Ryan Fitzpatrick) got off of him. We just have to pay closer attention to how they are actually playing him during the course of the game. I think hopefully now that we've put the ball in other places, things will start to come back his way,' Gailey said.

Footballguys view: Fantasy GMs may have a decision to make on whether or not to keep Gesicki on their roster. He had 11 receptions in the first two games of the 2020 season only to have one catch in back-to-back games. A quarterback change is coming soon for the Dolphins, and perhaps rookie first-round pick Tua Tagovailoa will favor Gesicki as a security-blanket target.

Dolphins | Mike Gesicki makes lone reception count    Fri Sep 25, 12:53 AM

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki caught one pass for 15 yards and a touchdown in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Footballguys view: Gesicki showed his leaping ability and length on his score to salvage something on a night that the Dolphins only passed 20 times. He's still a TE1 play but may see a lot of Jamal Adams against the Seahawks next week.

Dolphins | Mike Gesicki posts 130 yards, score    Sun Sep 20, 06:13 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki exploded for a career-high 130 receiving yards on receptions in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills. In fact, it was his first-ever 100-yard game.

Footballguys view: Gesicki was a big part of the comeback effort in the second half. It's great to see the chemistry between him and Ryan Fitzpatrick heading into a matchup with the Jaguars defense that just gave up a huge game to Jonnu Smith.

Dolphins | Mike Gesicki catches three passes    Sun Sep 13, 04:42 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki caught three passes for 30 yards against the New England Patriots in Week 1.

Dolphins | Mike Gesicki is a good spot?    Tue Aug 18, 09:16 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki believes he will see a lot of single coverage this year because of the attention WR DeVante Parker and WR Preston Williams will demand. 'When you get your man-to-man or single coverage you have to win your matchup,' Gesicki said.

Dolphins | Mike Gesicki popular in red zone    Sun May 31, 10:26 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki was one of four tight ends to see double-digit end zone targets during the 2019 season.

Footballguys view: Gesicki is a huge target and can make plays 'above the rim' in the end zone. He took a huge leap forward in 2019, finishing as the no.11 fantasy tight end in standard-scoring leagues. He is at least a low-end TE1 with upside for Fantasy GMs in 2020 as he continues to develop.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph showed off hands in 2019    Sun May 17, 06:44 PM

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph did not record a drop in 2019, allowing him to join Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki as the only tight ends to achieve that feat while seeing at least 40 targets.

Footballguys view: Rudolph is a favorite target of QB Kirk Cousins and the Gary Kubiak offense is quite tight end friendly. Rudolph will continue to split time at the position with Irv Smith. He was the no.15 fantasy tight end in 2019 but Rudolph is going late in drafts at this time if he's even getting picked at all.

Dolphins | Mike Gesicki to stay involved?    Sun Feb 23, 09:18 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki will likely be used as a slot receiver in sets featuring three or more receivers in offensive coordinator Chan Gailey's system, according to Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com.

Footballguys view: Gesicki had a better-than-expected season in 2019. We'll see who is the QB for the Dolphins in 2020, as they could begin with Ryan Fitzpatrick and then end with someone like Tua Tagovailoa. Either way, Gesicki should be heavily involved in what they do through the air. He was the No.11 fantasy tight end last year and has low-end TE1 upside again for this season.

Dolphins | Week 17 final stats for Dolphins    Sun Dec 29, 04:11 PM

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 28-of-41 passes for 320 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions while running for 15 yards and a score in a stunning Week 17 road upset of the New England Patriots. RB Patrick Laird was the leading rusher with just 21 yards on 11 carries, while WR DeVante Parker led the way with a game-high 137 receiving yards on eight catches for 11 targets. WR Isaiah Ford managed seven grabs for 54 yards on nine targets, WR Albert Wilson was good for five catches for 59 yards on eight targets and TE Mike Gesicki posted a touchdown while totaling 34 yards on four receptions. CB Eric Rowe also had a 35-yard interception for touchdown.

Footballguys view: Fitzpatrick created fantasy value in the most improbable place this year, and helped both Parker and Gesicki arrive in fantasy leagues. The Dolphins 2020 quarterback situation is up in the air, but both Parker and Gesicki will be drafted and Parker could be as high as a WR2 after this performance against Stephon Gilmore punctuated his breakout season.
