Saints | Michael Thomas comfy in close quarters    Mon Mar 8, 10:30 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas has recorded a league-best 73 contested catches - four more than second-place Mike Evans, DeAndre Hopkins and Julio Jones - since the start of the 2015 season, according to Pro Football Focus.

Footballguys view: Thomas is a big body who defenders have trouble getting around. That's not going to change, and he's always had incredible 'my ball' mentality dating back to his days in college.

Buccaneers | Mike Evans open to reworking deal    Mon Feb 8, 01:26 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans has told the team that he is willing to restructure his contract if the team needs salary cap this offseason because he wants to keep the team together, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Footballguys view: Evans wants the team to stay intact so they can make another run. That means he'll be willing to renegotiate his contract so teammates who are free agents can stick around.

Buccaneers | Mike Evans on track to play    Fri Feb 5, 03:59 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Feb. 5, and is not on the injury report for Super Bowl LV.

Footballguys view: Back in Week 12 against the Chiefs, Evans had just three catches for 50 yards...but two of those catches were for touchdowns. He's a favorite target of QB Tom Brady, and should be a key player for the Buccaneers offense in the Super Bowl.

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV injury report    Fri Feb 5, 02:21 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (back) did not participate in practice Friday, Feb. 5, and is listed as questionable for Super Bowl LV on Sunday. WR Antonio Brown (knee) was a full participant in practice Friday, and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game.   Buccaneers | Mike Evans practices in full    Thu Feb 4, 06:29 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Feb. 4.

Footballguys view: Evans will be at full strength for the Super Bowl...or as close as you can be at this time of year. We'll see how much QB Tom Brady goes after the star receiver and how much time he'll have to throw. The quarterback who deals with pressure better will likely be the victor on Sunday.

NFL | Two elite deep threats squaring off in Super Bowl    Tue Feb 2, 04:34 PM

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill (107) and WR Mike Evans (90) rank first and second in the league, respectively, in most targets on 20-yard throws since 2018, according to Pro Football Focus.

Footballguys view: This should be a fun game, for many reasons, and these two wide receivers are just part of that. Hill should be able to attack that young Buccaneers secondary, while Evans will do his best to work against the Chiefs defense. Both teams have other options, but these two are some of the best in the game and just fun to watch work.

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay's Friday practice report    Fri Jan 29, 04:56 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Antonio Brown (knee) and S Jordan Whitehead (shoulder, knee) did not practice all week and are listed as doubtful for Super Bowl LV versus the Kansas City Chiefs. LB Lavonte David (hamstring) and S Antoine Winfield Jr. (ankle) also did not practice all week but are listed as questionable. LB Jason Pierre-Paul (knee) did not practice all week, while DL Steve McLendon (non-injury) did not practice Friday, Jan. 29; both players no longer appear on the injury report. WR Mike Evans (knee) and DL Vita Vea (ankle) were limited in practice all week and have also been removed from the injury report. WR Chris Godwin (elbow) practiced in full all week and was taken off the injury report as well.

Footballguys view: The Bucs won't miss Brown as Scotty Miller adds more of a vertical element as the #3 receiver anyway. Whitehead will be missed as he forced two fumbles in the NFC title game and David and Winfield are obviously crucial to the defense. Neither team is close to 100% heading into the big game.

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay headed for Super Bowl LV    Sun Jan 24, 06:10 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady completed 20-of-36 passes for 280 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Jan. 24. It will be his 10th Super Bowl appearance, and the Bucs are the first team to play the game in their home stadium. RB Leonard Fournette ran 12 times for 55 yards and a touchdown while adding five receptions for 19 yards, RB Ronald Jones rushed 10 times for 16 yards, WR Chris Godwin racked up five receptions for a team-best 110 yards on nine targets and WR Mike Evans added three receptions for 51 yards and a score on eight targets. WR Scott Miller also cashed in his three targets for two catches, 36 yards and a touchdown, while TE Rob Gronkowski was limited to one catch for 29 yards on his lone target. TE Cameron Brate picked up three grabs for 19 yards and a score, while WR Tyler Johnson rounded things out with one catch for 16 yards. LB Devin White led the way defensively with a staggering game-high 15 total tackles, including nine of the solo variety.

Footballguys view: Brady wasn't the reason the Bucs won, but he did have two good long passes to offset his three interceptions, which his defense did a great job of minimizing in the story of the outcome of the game. Leonard Fournette goes to the Super Bowl with Tom Brady after his 2017 Jaguars team was ousted by Brady. Godwin had great hands deep on his key play early, while Evans hands were more suspect, although the interception off of his hands in the red zone was more on Brady than him. Tampa Bay will be the first team to play the Super Bowl in their home stadium.

Buccaneers | Mike Evans ready for NFCCG    Fri Jan 22, 05:21 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (knee) was limited in practice all week but no longer appears on the injury report for the NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers.

Footballguys view: Evans has a tough time shaking free against Saints CB Marshon Lattimore. He'll have a better time this week against the Packers, but the last time these two teams played (Week 6 2020) Evans only had one catch for 10 yards. Let's see if he can do more with a trip to the Super Bowl...in Tampa...on the line.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 21.
